Tell Me How To Fix You

Chapter 39

By: The Duchess of Arendelle

AN: Sorry for any and all mistakes. I was kind of trying to hurry up and get this chapter out. At least it's nice and long! Enjoy!

Anna closed Elsa's door with a sigh, locking it behind herself. Returning the key to its hiding spot, she placed one hand longingly on the wooden frame. She stood there for a second, wondering if she should just call the whole thing off and go back inside to comfort the broken blonde that she was still madly in love with.

She was seriously considering going back in. Her hand had even began to creep back up the door in search of the key, when her phone started buzzing. It was an email from her boss. He had been emailing her a lot lately. He was inquiring about the progress of her story, wanting to know details that she didn't have. She had to do this. Her job depended on it. She hated saying it, but Elsa would just had to wait. At least for a few hours.

She closed her eyes and looked up towards the worn ceiling, sending a quick prayer to the Universe that Elsa would be find until she returned.

****************FROZEN*********************

The elevator dinged and the old doors slowly opened. Anna stepped off the death trap and into the lobby. She breathed a sigh of relief. It was always a miracle when you made it to your destination without the piece of rust breaking down on you. Looking around, she didn't immediately spot Hans. She bit her bottom lip, worrying the sideburned young man might have already left without her.

Just as she was about to berate herself for her tardiness, she jumped in surprise as she felt a hand grab her shoulder. Flashes and memories hit her. Hot breath on her face. Tears running down her cheeks. Hard panting in her ear. Someone's hand gripping her shoulder, hard. She slammed her eyes shut and forced herself to remember that that was the past. She was safe now. Far away from that place. She wasn't in any danger. Focusing back in on her surroundings, she heard someone calling her name. Turning around, she saw the face of a concerned Hans. Both hands were now on her shoulder as he stared at her, confused.

"Anna, are you alright?" He asked sweetly. Anna shook her head a bit, ridding herself of the lingering thoughts before answering.

"Hans! Ah- yeah no, I'm fine. Sorry, you just- you startled me is all." She half lied. Hans stared at her skeptically but nodded his head.

"Alright, if you say so." He then paused and looked her over. A large smile slowly formed on his face as he let out an amazed, "Wow." Under his breath. Anna looked at him shyly, running her hand subconsciously through the white streak in her hair.

"What?" she asked, rubbing her arm nervously. Hans looked her in the eye as he grabbed one of her hands.

"Nothing. It's just… you look stunning." He complimented, placing a light kiss on the back of the redhead's hand. Anna blushed a bright red and smiled. She slowly pulled her hand out of his as she responded.

"Oh, well.. th- thank you. You look very handsome yourself." She returned nervously. Had this been a few months earlier, she would have probably passed out from the compliment the gorgeous auburn haired man had given her. But looking at him, accepting his proffered arm, all she could think was, "I wish Elsa was here…"

Hans escorted Anna outside the apartment complex to the waiting car. The car was extremely nice. It was all black with tinted windows. It looked very luxurious, and for the second time Anna wondered how he could hire such a lavish car on his salary. The redhead filed that assessment in the back of her head to be thought over later. She smiled in thanks as Hans chivalrously opened the car door for her.

The car pulled off as the two settled in. Hans turned and smiled at Anna as he spoked in a low voice.

"Thanks again for agreeing to accompany me tonight. You're really something special you know that?"

Anna blushed and looked away a bit. "It's no problem. I'm glad you asked me. I mean, you could have probably asked any girl and she would have said yes. But, now you're stuck with just plain ol' me." Anna joked nervously. Hans smiled a bit in disbelief.

"Just you?"

Anna let the statement linger as the car drove down the mostly emptied streets.

*********************FROZEN*********************

The car finally stopped in front of a large building. Anna admired the architecture as Hans helped her out of the car. She looked around in amazement at all the flashing lights and beautiful people dressed to the nines. They walked the length to the front entrance, reporters yelling at them for pictures. She could have sworn she heard a few of them call Hans's name, but she dismissed the thought.

A doorman opened the large glass doors for the two and they walked to the ballroom. If she thought the outside was beautiful, the interior was breathtaking. A large crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling directly in the middle of the room. Fine art adored the wall; Picassos, Van Goghs, Matisses, Monets, all gorgeous paintings hanging in golden frames. Anna just knew all of them were the real deal.

'Rapunzel would have loved to see this.' She thought as Hans ushered her around the room. His hand was placed on her lower back as someone stopped to talk to him. She felt very uncomfortable but decided not to move it. She didn't want to be rude, but she'd make sure to remind him they were just friends. The redhead tuned back into their conversation just in time to hear,

"…your girlfriend?" the blonde man that was speaking to him asked as his eyes lecherously ran over her body. Anna frowned in disgust and Hans laughed bringing her a bit closer.

"Oh no. This is Anna Summers, she's a co-worker and a good friend of mine. She was nice enough to accompany me as my date tonight. Anna, this is Mark Holland, a friend of mine from college." He introduced the two, hand moving lower on her back. The blonde smiled and approached Anna closer.

"Not your girlfriend? Well in that case, you may want to keep her close old friend, I might just steal her away." He said seriously, then winked and laughed 'good naturedly.'

At that Hans's smile dropped a bit. It looked more strained as he practically gritted out,

"Hahaa. I'll never give you the chance." Laughing back. The two talked a bit more before Mark's wife came up to them. "Hello darling, we should really mingle." She said, staring at Anna with distain. At least, Anna thought it was distain. The woman had so much Botox she wasn't sure. The man barely looked at her as he took Anna's hand and placed a kiss on it.

"I hope to see you again before you leave tonight Miss Summers." He said charmingly. Anna forced a smiled and nodded once. The redhead was completely disgusted at the man's shameless flirting, even when his wife was with him. As the two walked away, Mark's wife turned around to… glare? At her one last time before sashaying away.

"I'm sorry about Mark. I know he can be a little… eccentric… but he's really a pretty ok guy deep down." Hans apologized as they set off around the room again.

"Oh it's fine. You said he was your friend from college? Which one did you go to?" she asked as Hans smiled and waved at party goers like he born to into the posh setting.

"Hmm? Oh… we went to uh, C- Corona University…" he quickly made up. Anna smiled brightly.

"Really? That's amazing! My cousin will be attending CU soon. That's so cool. Tell me all about it." Anna rambled excitedly. Hans cursed quietly under his breath. He'd gone to Stanford and Princeton, graduating with a business and poly-sci degree from two of the best Ivy League schools in the country. He didn't know anything about second rate regular people universities. He cleared his throat to stall, and was saved an answer when he heard a familiar voice call his name. A shiver ran down his spine and his face took on a friendly yet despondent look. He turned around and greeted the person.

"Ah, hello Mr. Fiske. Anna, this is Mr. Johann Fiske, CEO and founder of the Southern Isle Inc, and my… former boss. Mr. Fiske, this is Anna Summers, a promising young reporter at Mirror Mirror, and my coworker." Hans introduced. Anna's eyes widened a bit. Mr. Fiske. This was it. Show time. Anna smiled brightly and stuck out her hand.

"Mr. Fiske, a pleasure to meet you sir." Anna said with pseudo confidence. Fiske smirked and took her hand, kissing the back and bowing a bit. Anna wondered for a second if all rich men did that to women.

"Miss Summers, please believe me when I say the pleasure is all mine. I've been following your articles. They're good." He complimented, finally releasing her hand. Anna smiled shyly.

"Thank you so much for saying so." She then paused. Time to play it up. Time to talk her way into a job offer. "I'm sure you're just saying that to be polite though." She said in slight disappointment. Fiske's eyebrows narrowed in confusion.

"And why would you say that dear?" he asked in true curiosity. Anna sighed.

"Well, I feel like I'm under used at Mirror Mirror if I was to be honest. I mean I… never mind." She ended with a self-conscious shrug. Fiske's and Hans's eyes seemed to light up at this.

"No dear, please continue. You were saying about feeling under used?" he asked, somewhat eagerly. Convincing her to leave Frost and come to him was starting to look easier than anticipated. Anna shrugged again, looking down.

"Well it's just… I've been there for a few months now. I've written big articles before. I went to journalism school for 4 years. Yet Phillips still has me writing about bake sales and garbage protest. And… no… Maybe I shouldn't say…" she trailed off, rubbing her arm nervously.

"Please do say." Fiske urged, grabbing a flute of champagne off a passing tray and handing it to Anna. She thanked him and took a long sip. She cleared her throat and looked at the handsome older man. His brown hair slicked back and greying on the sides. His salt and pepper 'Tony Stark' style mustache. His chiseled jaw and green eyes that looked so familiar. She continued to speak while in the back of her head she thought of who the man reminded her of.

"Well… promise this will stay between just us?" she asked 'naïvely'. They both nodded, looking like hungry dogs drooling over a steak.

"As an inside source, I can tell you that the father company, Frost Industries, are having some management problems… Apparently the daughter of the founder and current CEO has taken an interest in getting involved in the company for the first time. I mean… I've actually become very close friends with her. And I guess her taking over would be okay and all, but I don't know if she's even capable of doing it..." she wanted to close her eyes and slam her head into a brick wall at what she was saying. She shouldn't be telling him this stuff. It's not like she really thought any of it about Elsa. And it was only a tidbit. Enough to hook him and get him to offer her the job. Eugene had told her that she should never ask for the job, she had to wait to be asked. She hoped that she wasn't betraying Elsa by saying this.

"Interesting…" he said to himself.

Fiske straightened up and smiled brightly at the redhead.

"Miss Summers, I do not wish to seem too forward, but I'd like to speak with you privately about a potential career opportunity. Hans here has been considering coming back to SI as well. How about both of you meet me for lunch tomorrow, say around 2? I'll have my people phone you with the details." He finished as a woman with white hair, dark black frames and clad in a skin tight a black dress came and whispered something in is ear.

"I understand." Was all Anna could hear from the exchange. Fiske then turned back around with an apologetic smile.

"It seems I'm needed elsewhere. I'm sorry our meeting was so short, but hopefully this won't be the last we see of each other. Anna. Hans. Enjoy the rest of your evening." He then slightly bowed his head and turned, walking away with the mysterious white haired woman. A secretary perhaps?

Hans turned to Anna with a huge smile.

"Anna!" he said excitedly. "Congratulations. You're about to move on to bigger and better things." He exclaimed. Anna smiled back. She was happy. She was excited. But not for the reason Hans was thinking. She basically had phase one of her mission complete. She was pretty sure that job was as good as hers. She then thought of something.

"I had no idea you were thinking of leaving Mirror Mirror too." Anna asked curiously. Hans nodded his head.

"Yes, I've been thinking of leaving for a while now. I feel like Mirror Mirror is a sinking ship. Might as well get the life jackets and reserve a spot on the shipboard while you can, right?" Hans joked with a laugh. Anna smiled uncomfortably.

"Heh… yeah." She trailed off. She was starting to think Hans wasn't the all-around nice guy she thought him to be. She made a mental note to do a little background check on him at some point.

Hans grabbed two more glasses of champagne, handing one to Anna.

"To new beginnings and better opportunities." Hans offered as a toast, lifting his glass. Anna smiled and lifted her glass as well, clanging it against his.

"Sounds fantastic." She said, taking a small sip. Hans downed his in one go, feeling accomplished. Anna had to be dumber than he thought. This was turning out to be way easier than her imagined. Hans felt a hand lightly tap his shoulder. He turned around and smiled suavely at the blonde bombshell that was trying to get his attention.

"Anna, I need to speak with Miss Madison in private. I'll be right back." He told the redhead. Anna smiled and nodded her head.

"Of course. Go ahead."

The two disappeared in the crowd and Anna was left alone, drinking her champagne.

"You know, you did pretty good out there for a rookie." She heard a voice whisper in her ear. The redhead jumped and almost screamed when she turned around and saw who it was.

"Eugene! You asshole! You scared the bejezzus out of me!" she whispered harshly, hitting his arm, hard.

"Ow! Geez! First of all it's Flynn. Flynn Ryder! And secondly, can't you take a joke? That's probably going to leave a bruise." He pouted as he rubbed his sore arm. Anna rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. Where have you been anyway? I looked for you when we first got here and I didn't see you anywhere." Anna asked. Flynn cleared his throat. He had only just arrived when Hans had introduced her to Fiske. His date with Rapunzel had run later than either of them had anticipated. But he couldn't tell her that.

"I, uh, I was here the entire time. I was hiding in the shadows like any good spy. Duh. That's rule number one of espionage, always blend in with your surroundings." He told her in a mysterious whisper. Anna stared at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Uh huh. And tell me how a red suede jacket with your black dressed pants and bow tie is, 'Blending in.'" she asked, using air quotes.

"Yeah, well. You know I look hot." He responded. Using the smolder. Anna crinkled her face. "Ew."

"Anyways, I heard everything using my little doohickey here." He pointed to the ear piece and the transmitter that was tucked in his jackets pocket.

"It's not official yet, but dropping those hints about Frost made Fiske want you. He's probably going to try and hire you as an inside source. Which is great. You'll be like, a double agent… or a triple agent. I don't know, we'll work out the details later. Point is, you did it. Now what?" he asked as they walked to a corner of the room away from eavesdroppers.

"How do you know about Elsa?" she asked suspiciously.

"Anna. Come on, really? Like I wouldn't know who the CEO of Frost Industries is. Everyone knows her name, she's practically our boss, duh. Now answer my question. What's next?" Flynn deflected.

"Well, if I get the job, I'll pretend to quit Mirror Mirror. Phillips knows what's going on so I'll still technically have my job. Then I'll start discretely asking questions about what's really going on at SI." Anna explained, but Flynn quickly cut her off.

"Wrong. Your cover is already blown. You think you're just going to waltz in there on your first day and start, 'Discretely asking questions'? Yeah, nobody is going to be suspicious of the new girl sticking her nose in everyone's business. You have to build up a trust first Anna, then you can start 'discretely' asking around. Damn you are so lucky to have me." He complimented himself. Anna rolled her eyes. She'd never ever EVER, admit it, but he was right. She was lucky to have his help with this.

"So now what do I do for the rest of the night?" she asked as they walked over to the buffet table. Flynn smiled mischievously.

"Well. I suggest you take this drink and have a good time with your man friend over there. This is probably going to be the last free night you have to yourself for a while. Enjoy it." He told her with a wink, walking away as Hans approached.

"So, how about a dance?" Hans asked with a smile.

************FROZEN************

5 hours later

It was around 1:50 in the morning when Hans and Anna stumbled through the doors of their apartment building, swaying and trying to stifle their giggles. Anna didn't even know what she was laughing at. After their dance, more and more champagne had started flowing until she'd lost count of how many she'd actually had.

"Sshhh. Sshhhh. P-people are… tryin to sleeppp." Anna slurred, putting a finger over Hans mouth. That only made them both laugh louder as they climbed into the elevator.

"Anna, nobody can hear us from the lobby!" Hans laughed. Anna laughed too, nodding her head.

"Yeah, but, but, but they might. Right? They could like, hear us maybe…"

They both dissolved into giggles again as the elevator stopped on their floor.

"Yay we're here! We made it! We didn't die!" Anna cheered as she skipped off the elevator, dragging Hans behind her.

By the time they reached Anna's door they had finally calmed down a bit.

"This was so much fun, thank you for inviting me, I had a wonderful time." Anna giggled. Hans smiled.

"No, thank you for agreeing to come with me." He responded.

They both stood there looking at each other for a long while, not knowing what to do next. Hans took this as his opportunity and slowly started to move forward. As he was closing in for a kiss, the small part of Anna's mind that wasn't drowned in alcohol whispered 'What about Elsa?' and she turned her head at the last moment, kiss landing on her cheek. She smiled apologetically at Hans and shrugged a bit.

"I'm sorry, I- I already have someone... G'night Hans." She told the disappointed man. He smiled sadly back and nodded, mumbling a goodnight before stumbling down the hall to his apartment.

Anna began trying to put her key in the hole, failing horribly. "Ughh!" she groaned loudly after her 8th failed attempt. She then stopped and looked around like she'd forgotten where she was.

"W-wait… I'm, I was 'supose to be at Elsa's…" she mumbled to herself as she swayed on her feet.

"Up. Up. Up the elevator I goooo." She sang as she got back on to the elevator and pressed 5 for the 5th floor. She stumbled off, almost falling on her face as she waltz over to Elsa's door. She stared at it for a second before she reached for the knob. She frowned as she tried to turn it but it wouldn't budge.

"It's broken…" her drunken mind came to the conclusion. She then raised her right hand and began to bang on Elsa's door.

"Elsssaaaa! Your door won't let me in! I t-think I think it's broken! Elsssssaaaaaa!" she continued to beat on the door as she leaned against the frame. She saw a light flick on under the door and a shadow appear. The person on the other side hesitated before cracking the door open.

"Elsssaaa. H- hey. Are you gonna let me in?" she asked smiling happily. Elsa frowned as she smelled the alcohol on Anna's breath. She opened the door wider. Anna's smile grew as she took in Elsa's short silk night dress.

"You- you look gorgeous." Anna told Elsa as she walked into the blonde's apartment. Elsa said nothing as she walked into the kitchen. Leaning against the counter, she stared at the redhead. For a long time the two stared at each other, neither speaking a word.

"What are you doing here Anna? I thought I told you I didn't want to see you anymore. And why are you drunk?" Elsa finally spoke. The smile dropped from Anna's face and she began to walk over to the blonde.

"Don't. Don't say that Elsa. I can't stay away from you. I could never, not even if you tried to make me." She began to close in on the blonde. Elsa remained still as Anna brought her hands up to rest lightly on thin shoulders.

"Anna…" Elsa began warily. The redhead quickly cut her off. Talking over her.

"I l-ove you Elsa. I'm, I'm still in love with you, you know? And I'm tryin to be a good person, a good friend, Because that's what you need right now, a friend right? Right? Y' need a friend right now, not a girlfriend. B- but, can't I be both? I mean, I think I can be both. I just, I, I really miss you Elsa…" Anna started crying. She wrapped her arms around Elsa's neck and began to sob into her shoulder. If this was anyone else in the world, Elsa would have thrown them off of her and ran into the shower. But this wasn't just anyone. This was Anna. And she was in her arms. Drunk and crying and clinging to her and telling her how she was still in love with her. How she still wanted to be with her.

But what about Hans?

"Hans?" Anna asked in confusion through her tears. Elsa shut her eyes. Had she said that out loud? She felt warm hands on her face as slowly opened her eyes.

"Is that why you were so cold to me earlier? Because of Hans?" she asked, tears still running down her face. Elsa's silence was all the answer she needed.

"Hans is, Hans is nothing to me, He's only a friend. He tried to kiss me…" at that Elsa tried to break away from the embrace but Anna held on tight. Drunken Anna was very stubborn. And strong. "but I didn't let him. 'Cause the only thing I could think about was you." She finished, pulling the blonde closer. Elsa finally allowed herself to sink into the hold.

After a long moment of silence, Elsa heard light snoring coming from the redhead. She looked to see Anna had fallen asleep standing up in her arms. The blonde rolled her eyes but smiled. They'd have a lot to talk about when she woke up. She bit her lip, hoping that this wasn't just a drunken ramble. That Anna had actually meant all that she said.

As the blonde changed Anna into a pair of her own nightclothes, the redhead stirred a bit, opening her eyes and smiling groggily.

"heeyyy…snowflake…" she mumbled leaning up and pressing a kiss to the blonde's lips. She then instantly fell back into oblivion as Elsa brought a hand up to touch her still tingling lips.

Yep. A lot to talk about.

AN: A couple of weeks ago I had to have my appendix removed. So I was trying to recover from that. I'm glad this story is finally moving along.. Sorry it took so long to update. I hadn't realized how long it had been since my last update. It's now 1:34 a/m/ and I am finishing up this chapter. I regret nothing!

So Anna and Elsa could possibly become a couple again. It's barely been a week, but that is such an Anna thing to do. Of course she wouldn't be able to hold out. So what do you guys think? Yes to getting back together? or No they should wait a little longer? Ohh, this feels like a Mass Effect or Dragan Age multiple choice moment! Be careful, the decision you make affects the rest of the story, FOREVER. (Just kidding!)

One more thing. So you guys can get one or two long updates a month, or I can start writing much sorter chapters way more frequently. Like, two short chapters a week. Leave a review or PM telling me which you prefer.
