Tell Me How To Fix You
Chapter 42
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: Sorry for any and ALL mistakes! Was busy all this week, but still wanted to get an update in. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
20 minutes passed and Anna's sobs had finally started to subside. Now they just laid there in Elsa's bed, neither talking. Anna listened to the steady beats of Elsa's heart and let it calm her. She'd never told anyone besides Rapunzel that story. Her parents didn't even know the entire truth.
The redhead remained still and let Elsa hold her. She didn't want to break the embrace. She was terrified of what Elsa would think of her now after knowing her past. She didn't want to see pitying gazes or hidden disgust.
Anna sighed lightly. She didn't go through the trouble and pain of telling Elsa her past just to hide from her reaction. Slowly she began to sit up. Elsa sat up with her. They didn't speak for a while. Anna's mind was running at a million miles per hour. She was trying to think of something to say. Anything. She was used to being the stronger one in her and Elsa's relationship. She was used to being the shoulder Elsa cried on. And now here she was, a complete broken mess, sitting beside the women she promised to help and care for. With another sigh, Anna finally turned towards Elsa. She avoided looking into the blonde's eyes, afraid of what she'd find. The redhead began speaking in a low voice.
"…So um… I guess I'm not as strong as you thought, huh?" she tried to joke nervously. Elsa furrowed her brow. Grabbing Anna's hand, the redhead finally turned to look at the blonde. She thought she was going to be met with the same pitying gazes she had become use to, but instead Elsa's eyes shone with love and adoration.
"You're wrong Anna. You are so much stronger than I could have ever imagined. I… I just can't even believe…. Anna, I look up to you. Even more so now." Elsa told the redhead with complete honesty. Anna shook her head in disbelief, eyes watering again.
"How can you look up to me? I'm pathetic. I wasn't strong enough or brave enough to stick up for myself. To get out of the relationship when it first turned sour. I was weak, and I still am. Because here you are, having to comfort me and wipe away my tears, when that's my job. I'm supposed to be helping you, comforting you, encouraging you!" Tears fell from Anna's eyes and she tried to look away. Elsa brought her other hand up to rest on Anna's cheek, stopping the redhead.
"Well… maybe that's the problem. Maybe you shouldn't be taking care of me. Maybe we should be taking care of each other." Elsa responded as she cradled Anna's face in her hand.
"Anna… I don't want you worrying about me, but not letting me worry about you. I care for you so much. It's not fair that you help me while neglecting your own feelings. Your own needs. I want us to be together, you know that. But it's going to end in disaster again if you don't let me help you and take care of you as well." Elsa rubbed the pad of her thumb lightly across the back of Anna's hand.
"I promise to start opening up to you more, if you start opening up to me more." Elsa told the redhead with a small smile. Anna returned the smile and nodded her head. Elsa was right. She had been so busy trying to force the blonde into opening up, when she'd neglected to do the same.
"It's a deal." Anna told the blonde, smile growing larger. Elsa smiled back and pulled the redhead into a tight hug. Anna laughed and brought Elsa closer.
"So did we just enter the Twilight Zone or something? Did our roles just reverse? Since when does Ms. Elsa Frost, ice queen extraordinaire, initiate physical contact and emotional discussions?" Anna joked. Elsa broke the contact and lightly hit Anna on the arm.
"Hey, I was just kidding! Geez." She said with a fake pout. Elsa rolled her eyes but her smile never faltered.
"So, does this mean we're a couple again?" Elsa asked unsurely. Anna stared at their intertwined hands. Nodding her head, she looked back into glacier eyes.
"There are still a lot of things we need to talk about, and change, on both our ends, but… yes. We're an item again." Anna said proudly with a grin. Elsa sighed slightly in relief and nodded her own head in understanding.
"So… who's going to be the one to tell Rapunzel?" Elsa asked with wide eyes. Anna shook her head.
"Not me. I'm emotionally exhausted and I don't feel like hearing Punz's naggy lectures." Anna respond with a grimace at the thought. Elsa shrugged a bit.
"Well… maybe she doesn't have to know just yet."
Anna nodded vigorously at the suggestion. "Sounds perfect." She agreed, then shot Elsa a sly smile.
"Sooo… since we're a couple again, doesn't that mean we can…" Anna had been moving closer to Elsa's face, but the blonde had put a hand up to Anna's mouth.
"Anna, I love you, but you reek of alcohol and morning breath. The answer to that is no." Anna began pouting for real as she huffed and crossed her arms. Elsa leaned over and pressed a light kiss on the redhead's cheek.
"But after a shower and a vigorous teeth brushing session, absolutely." She said, getting up from the bed and walking towards the door. Anna stared after the blonde, amazed at how much they had both changed in such a short amount of time. Elsa seemed, calmer, more at ease with herself, more confident, and she felt lighter, like the secrets she had been keeping from Elsa had literally been weighing her down.
At that thought Anna closed her eyes and cursed quietly under her breath. Secrets. Damn it. Hans. Fiske. She had a lunch meeting with them today. She fell back on the bed, eyes staring at the ceiling. What was she going to do? She had just promised Elsa that she would start opening up to her more, start being more honest and up front with her.
She was going to lunch with her girlfriend's company's main rival to possibly get hired by them to spy on her so she could spy on them. Fuck.
What was she going to do?
AN: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I feel like they needed to come to the realization that they both need to be there for each other for the relationship to work. And I'm glad Anna's finally starting to accept that. Plus it gave Elsa a confident boost knowing that she could be a shoulder for Anna to lean on, just as much as Anna was her shoulder to lean on.
BUT! Now we come to the problem at hand. HANS. Should Anna tell Elsa what's going on, what she's up to and planning, or should Elsa be left in the dark about this because Anna doesn't want to get her involved?
Thank you guys telling me your thoughts and opinions on this story! It really gives me inspiration to write knowing how you all feel.
