Tell Me How To Fix You
Chapter 43
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: Hey guys! So when you don't get two short chapters a week, I do one long chapter, so here it is. Sorry for the wait. And sorry for any and all mistakes! Oh and xPrometheus Thanks for your review, I'm going to get back to you ASAP!
Anna sat at the kitchen table, fidgeting, as Elsa washed their breakfast dishes. She had to tell her. She had to tell Elsa of her plans. In a way it kind of involved her too right? Ugh! 'How am I going to break this to her after the amazing morning we've been having… Well amazing after the whole… you know.' Anna sighed and put her head down on the table.
Earlier, after Elsa's recommended shower, Anna had walked into the blonde's room in nothing but a towel, wondering what she was going to wear. She definitely wasn't going to put that extremely tight and uncomfortable evening gown back on. But she couldn't go back to her apartment in just her towel to pick clothes up. Maybe Punz could… no… she didn't want Punz over here yet. She wanted to spend more alone time with Elsa. She chewed on her bottom lip, thinking, when out of the corner of her eye she spotted a pile of clothes neatly folded on the immaculately made bed. On top of the clothes was a note in Elsa's hand writing.
'I didn't think you would want to change back into your gown, so I hope you won't mind wearing some of my clothes until you can get to your own. I'll be in the kitchen when you're finished. Are crepes ok? –Elsa'
Anna smiled brightly at the note. Setting it down, she grabbed the soft teal sweater that was sitting on top of the pile. Now that fall was here it, was getting cooler, and Elsa had thought enough about that to give her a sweater to wear. Since Elsa was a little taller than her, it sagged on the redhead a bit, and she love it. Next, she tugged on the light blue jeans and the pair of socks. Anna looked at herself in the mirror and couldn't help smiling wider.
She was standing in her girlfriend Elsa's room.
She was wearing her girlfriend Elsa's clothes.
Elsa was her girlfriend.
Something about this entire morning felt like a dream. One of those dreams that start off as a nightmare, and then gradually turn pleasant. Anna grabbed the top the sweater and brought it to her nose, inhaling the scent.
It smelled just like her girlfriend Elsa.
Leaving out of the room, she ignored the buzzing of her cell on the side table and went straight for the kitchen. Because, really, whoever it was could wait. She had Elsa AND crepes waiting for her.
Walking into the kitchen, she saw Elsa focusing on plating the crepes. She hadn't noticed Anna yet, and the redhead took this as her opportunity to sneak up on the blonde. Slowly creeping up behind her, Anna quickly brought both arms around Elsa's waist, laying her head against the blonde's back. Elsa yelped in surprise and dropped the strawberries she was holding. She heard Anna giggling from behind her and brought a hand up to her chest.
"Anna, you scared me half to death." Elsa told the redhead as she tried to pull away to clean up the strawberry mess. Anna continued laughing as she tightened her grip around the blonde's waist.
"I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself." Was Anna's reply. Elsa rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the smile that stretched across her face.
"You don't sound very sorry." Elsa replied in a dead pan. Anna lifted up on her tippy toes to place a kiss on Elsa's cheek. Then whispered in her ear.
"Well I am."
The blonde's face was on fire and she quickly cleared her throat, finally getting out of Anna's hold and grabbing a dish clothe. She began to wipe up the mess as Anna continued laughing.
After that, Elsa refused to make eye contact with the amused redhead until they finally sat down to eat. And even then, Elsa couldn't take her eyes off Anna in her clothes. The redhead looked incredibly breathtaking.
They talked about any and everything all through breakfast. When Elsa informed Anna that she was heading up a big project for work, Anna's eyes had instantly lit up in excitement and she'd grabbed Elsa's hand from across the table and held it. Elsa's blush returned at the redhead's reaction and she smiled.
"Elsa! That's great! I'm so proud of you for taking the initiative. It sounds like this is something you're actually interested in doing." Anna cheered. Elsa looked away in slight embarrassment.
"It is. It proves to be a bit of a challenge. Mostly dealing with some of the council members. But… I think I like the challenge." Elsa confessed. She looked back up when she felt a light squeeze of her hand. Anna was smiling at her with slight tears in her eyes. Elsa's eyebrows raised.
"Anna what's wrong?" she asked in concern. Anna began quickly shaking her head and bringing her other hand up to fan her eyes.
"It's nothing. Just, I really am proud of you Elsa. Look at how far you've come in such a short amount of time! You know, Kristoff and I were planning on visiting Olaf soon. I was thinking… maybe you'd like to try…" Anna trailed off when she saw Elsa's smile fading. She knew where Anna was going with this. The redhead wanted to smack herself in the face. God. Too fast Anna.
"Hey? I'm sorry. I just got so excited at how much progress you've made. I'm told I like to get ahead of myself by Punz… and everyone else I've ever met." Anna joked. Elsa gave a small laugh and shook her head.
"I think you're just an optimist. Which is good, someone in this relationship has to be, right?" Elsa responded, standing up and beginning to clear the table.
"Let me help you with those." Anna said, beginning to stand up.
"No. No I've got them." Elsa insisted.
"No really, you cooked I should do the dishes." Anna pushed.
"Anna please. I… you know I… I need to…" Elsa struggled and Anna sat back down, nodding her head.
"Ok. Knock yourself out." Anna tried to joke. Elsa threw a small smile at the redhead and turned to walk into the kitchen.
"Baby steps Anna." The redhead whispered to herself, reminding herself of her own words.
After that, they spent a few minutes idly chatting, and they soon arrived at this moment. The moment where Elsa asked her of her plans for today. She'd told Elsa of the fact that she was working on something big at work, but she had left out quite a few details. Now was the moment where she needed to either elude or spill the beans.
She'd chosen to knock the entire can over as she told the blonde that she needed to speak with her about that. Elsa had distractedly agreed as she continued scrubbing a clean plate.
And now Anna's head was on Elsa's table because she didn't want to have this conversation.
Reluctantly lifting her head, she got up from the table and migrated into the living room to wait for the blonde. Twenty minutes later, Elsa had finally finished cleaning everything. Sitting down next to Anna on the couch, they both watched the news as Anna tried to think of how to word what she needed to say. It was obvious even to drunken Anna that Elsa had a problem with Hans. Which confused her because she had never even met the guy. Maybe jealously because she was going out with him?
"So what did you need to talk with me about?" Elsa asked as a commercial came on. Anna jumped, startled out of her thoughts.
"Oh… yeah…" Anna cleared her throat and grabbed the remote control. Turning off the t.v. and turning her body towards Elsa.
The blonde looked immensely confused and worried. Anna closed her eyes and steeled herself. Here we go.
"So… you remember how I told you I was working on this big, like huge, I mean like really career defining project for work?" Anna asked. Elsa nodded, still confused.
"And you know, since I'm a journalist, I sometimes I have to meet up with certain people…" Elsa nodded again.
"And you know, sometimes journalist have to say or do things they don't really mean in order to get the best possible story… to… to, you know, bring intrigue or attention to an issue or something."
"Anna…"
"And you know, sometimes you may have to go into the hypothetical lion's den just so you can-"
"Anna."
"-get the most information. Like detectives. Yeah, like detectives! They do it all the time. Going under cover and stuff-"
"Anna!" Elsa spoke up louder and stopped the redhead's rambling.
"Yes?" Anna squeaked out.
"Just tell me what's going on." Elsa sighed.
"I' ." she said quickly in one breath. Elsa arched an eyebrow.
"….What? I didn't catch any of that. Maybe try it a little slower?" Elsa suggested.
Anna took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"I'm going to lunch with Mr. Fiske from the Southern Isle Industry today."
Elsa stared blankly at the redhead for a long moment. She then frowned as she digested what Anna said.
"Wait. Mr. Fiske? As in, Johann Fiske? Johann Fiske, President and CEO of SII? Johann Fiske the man that tried to buy out Frost Industries the day after my parents deaths were announced. That Johann Fiske?" Elsa asked angrily. Anna winced. She'd heard Elsa upset. She'd heard Elsa sad, annoyed, and distressed. But she'd never really heard Elsa angry.
"Yeah that's the one…" Anna trailed off sheepishly.
Elsa stood up.
"Anna! Why would you-" Anna quickly cut her off, grabbing both of the blonde's hands and trying to bring her back down to the couch.
"Wait, just hear me out." Anna pleaded. Elsa's frown remained as she sat back down on the couch, further away from Anna than previously.
"Like I said, I'm doing this big story for work. It involves the Southern Isle. They're disposing of their chemical waste illegally, paying garbage companies under the table to dump the waste in lakes instead of going through the proper chemical waste management procedures. Some of those lakes run off into the water supply of smaller towns outside of the city. Not only that, but years ago SII came under questioning over ethical and political issues but all charges and mentions of the incidents were dropped out of nowhere. It's suspected that judges and witnesses were paid off, victims threatened, and certain political leaders were somehow involved. I'm… hopefully going undercover to work for Fiske, and investigate SII to find out what's really going on behind those doors. That's why I'm going to lunch with Fiske, to talk about 'My future at SII.' It's just about getting the story Elsa and trying to do what's right. I would never betray you by actually working for that man, I thought you knew me better than that." Anna finished, voice lowering at the end.
Elsa's anger faded and she started to feel guilty for jumping to conclusion. What did she think Anna was planning to do anyway? She should have known that Anna would never betray her trust like that. She sighed and gripped Anna's hands harder.
"I do know that… it's just… If I can truly say I hate one person in this entire world, it would be Johann Fiske. I truly loathe that man. He's a deceitful, underhanded, slimly creep who preys on the innocence, fear, and stupidity of others." Elsa huffed out. Anna's mouth dropped. Ok, now that the anger wasn't directed towards her, she could really appreciate the sight of an irate Elsa. It was really kinda seriously hot. After a second of silence, Elsa's face took on realization.
"Oh… so that's why you went with Hans last night. You were trying to get to his father through him." Elsa said in a contemplative voice. Anna shook the inappropriate thoughts of angry Elsa out of her head and zeroed in on what the blonde had just said.
"Sorry. What did you just say?" Anna asked her to repeat. Elsa looked confused.
"Um. I said, so that's why you went on out with Hans last night. Because you were trying to use him to get to his father Fiske?" Elsa repeated unsurely. It was now Anna's turned to stare blankly at Elsa as the wheels of her mind tried to turn, but keep getting stuck on that one realization.
Was Elsa telling her that Hans was Fiske's son? Hans Hans? Like, Hans Anderson Hans? Hans from work? Sweet Hans that she use to actually have somewhat of, ok, a huge crush on? Hans? Was Fiske's son?
"…and you didn't know that did you?" Elsa asked, already knowing the answer.
Anna frowned and didn't respond as she remembered the things Hans had said to her. How he was a little too excited at the prospect of her working for the Southern Isle. How he could have afford to have a black card and hire $100,000 cars to escort him to a 'Former boss's banquet.' And, how he seemed to be right at home amongst the wealthy socialite snobs. He had been playing her like a fool, and she'd been falling for it. Even after people tried to warn her how bad of a person he really was. Even after all those clues and hints that seemed so glaringly obvious to her now. Ugh! What really infuriated her the most was, even after everything she'd been through, she was still stupid enough to fall for a nice smile and a silver tongue! Just like with Aleck.
"Anna…?" Elsa called out to the fuming redhead when the girl went 5 minutes without saying a single word, just glaring a hole in the wall behind Elsa's head. Anna snapped her head towards Elsa and her face softened slightly at the blonde's concern. Only slightly.
"…are you ok?" she asked hesitantly.
"I'm going to fucking ruin them Elsa. Hans and his father. I'm going to expose them for the lying, stealing, polluting, money grubbing bastards they are." Was Anna's determined reply. Elsa tried to hold a smile back at those words but she was losing the battle. The blonde truly believed that the Fiske family had finally crossed someone that they would soon regret ever meeting. And she was pretty sure she had just fallen a bit more in love with Anna at the redhead's vindictiveness, if that was even possible.
"Do you need any help?"
AN: It's all out there now. And Anna is really none too pleased. Han's little house of cards are about to start falling. Now we just need to see if Eugene is truly friend or foe. Elsa on the other hand is all too please to let Anna handle her business. She really, really, REALLY, doesn't like Fiske or Hans. And you will see why soon, if you don't already see why from what she said earlier. We'll go more into that later because,
*I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS ABOUT FUTURE CHAPTERS*
Since classes are starting back like really soon, like 2/3 weeks, I really want this story to start moving before then. It's over a year old and it hasn't even come close to a climax yet. I still have SO much planned for this story, I just love writing. SO. That being said, Elsa has slowly started to make progress, but I feel Anna, even with all the love and support she gives Elsa, is not qualified to give her the help she really truly needs. That's why I'm going to be bringing in a psychiatrist into the story for her soon. Love can go a long way, but it can only go so far, especially when it comes to mental illnesses. Which Elsa does have. She's still very obsessive compulsive with her cleaning and having to have everything perfect, and she's agoraphobic to the point that she probably wouldn't leave her home even if it was on fire. This is also how you'll probably be finding out a lot more of Elsa's past. Through sessions. So yeah, just wanted to inform you guys about that for some reason. I want to bring in a Disney character as the role of psychiatrist, but I have no clue which one. Suggestions?
Thanks for reading and reviewing and sending me your opinions and suggestions, really it means a lot to me you guys! :)
