One more chapter coming right up.

It had been a week since Connor and Kira had gotten together at prom and over that time they had discussed what kind of relationship they were in and agreed to become exclusive and this may have been met with rousing acceptance from their friends but now it came time to tell their parents.

It was a bright sunny Saturday and Connor had just arrived at Kira's house. In any normal situation they would've told their parents about their relationship first but they had agreed to tell their fellow rangers first.

Connor looked at Kira's house, the Ford family although not descended from Henry Ford still were quite successful, Kira's father jack Ford was head mechanic at a successful body shop and her mother Marissa worked as head chef at one of Reefside's most extravagant restaurants- The Elaborate Rose.. Connor nervously rang the doorbell and the large door was opened by Jack, he wasn't the largest man just slightly taller than Connor and thanks to his day job was rippling with muscle and the fact that he had a fu Manchu mustache did not make him less terrifying.

'' Yeah''? he said.

'' H-hi Mr. Ford I'm C-Connor'' Connor held his hand out trembling.

'' Oh you're the guy huh''? Jack glared at him, Connor felt paralyzed with fear and thought he may wet himself.

'' Dad''! Kira shouted from behind him. '' leave him alone''.

Jack smiled and let Connor in.

Connor was led to the den where he sat on what was probably the most comfortable chair he'd ever sat on.

Soon Kira's mother emerged from the kitchen, '' Oh hello, you're Kent right''?

'' Connor actually, nice to meet you '' he said more confidently, Marissa exuded comfort instead of fear like Jack did. She pulled him in for a bear hug and was interrupted by her daughter clearing her throat.

Eventually the Fords and Connor were all seated.

'' so, Kira says you've got something to tell us'' Jack said still glaring.

Kira put her hand on Connors. '' Well dad, you see, when we were at prom a song came on and we both realized that we loved each other and we agreed that we were in an exclusive relationship''.

'' Yay, my Kiki finally has a boyfriend'' Marissa said clapping.

Jack who currently had a beer in his hand crushed the bottle and shouted. '' What! No way, not happening, my Kira's too god for this delinquent''.

'' Didn't think you knew that word'' Kira muttered.

Marissa turned to her husband. '' Jack, they love each other and that's all that matters''.

'' But its him, he's no good''.

'' Hey, I don't remember asking you for your permission to date your daughter'' Connor said standing up.

'' Don't you dare speak like that in my house boy'' Jack snarled.

Jack looked furious, then smiled confidently. '' Twenty minutes, meet me in the backyard''.

Jack stood up to go clean his hand which was still bleeding.

'' oh no'' Kira and Marissa said in unison.

'' why what's wrong ''? Connor asked.

The two girls looked at each other then at Connor. Kira spoke up. '' You're going to have to fight him''.

'' As in fist fight''? Connor asked.

Kira nodded. Marissa piped up '' A while ago Jack decided that the only way he'd ever let a boy date Kira was if they could beat him in a trial by combat''.

'' Isn't that a bit 15th century?''

'' I tried to reason with him by saying how stupid that was but he was too stubborn to listen, so I humored him, I never actually thought he'd go through with it'' Marissa explained.

Connor sighed and walked to his car and opened the trunk.

Kira followed him. '' What're you doing ''? she asked.

Connor pulled out a duffel bag and asked for directions to a bathroom so he could change out of his jeans and leather jacket into his workout clothes.

'' Are you seriously going to fight him''? Kira asked.

'' Look, I know its not exactly the smartest option but I love you and if fighting a middle aged man who looks like he's on steroids is the only way then so be it''.

Kira chuckled. '' Well after fighting with you for nearly a year I should know better than to try reason with you''.

Connor emerged into the backyard wearing a red muscle shirt, black sweatpants, black shoes and red gym gloves.

Jack had changed too. He was now wearing a yellow vest, black shorts and that was it.

Kira and Marissa just stood on the lawn watching to see who would win.

'' You're boyfriend's pretty passionate'' Marissa said.

'' Thanks, I just hope dad doesn't out him in the hospital''.

Jack looked at Connor.'' You're either that into my daughter that you'd risk your life or you're that stupid'' Jack taunted.

'' Let's find out'' Connor bit back.

Jack charged at him and Connor dodged. Connor then proceeded to roundhouse him and made contact with Jack's face. Jack threw a punch and thanks to his experience with super speed Connor had learnt how good his reflexes were and quickly dodged and countered with a hook to his jugular.

'' Aggh'' Jack said coughing 'you'll pay for that'' Jack jumped into the air to perform an uppercut but seeing a clear shot Connor proceeded to kick him in the nuts at full force, this sent Jack to the ground and he curled into a ball.

'' So am I good enough''?

'' I'll say this, you're passionate but not good enough'' Jacks stood up and got into a fighting stance.

'' Jack just give up'' Marissa said.

'' No, who knows what this kid'll do to Kira, I'm not having another Bella situation''.

Connor looked confused. '' Who's Bella''?

'' Bella's my sister, she was dating this guy called Curtis until he broke her heart by cheating on her with her best friend Jaqueline'' Kira explained. '' She became goth and almost killed herself over him, we got her help but we were almost too late''.

Connor walked up to Jack. '' Look Mr. Ford I know after that you must not trust boys but trust me I'll never hurt your daughter''.

Jack eased up '' I'm not happy about this kid but Kira seems to trust you do I guess I'm inclined to as well''.

For the first time that day Connor got not only a handshake for him but also a smile.

Connor got into his car and drove home happy, knowing that next weekend Kira would have to meet his parents an experience he was not looking forward to.
