"See you tomorrow Anna. Be safe." Wasabi waved as he and Anna walked through the glass doors of the building. The redhead waved back and took off down the sidewalk, heading towards the nearest subway station.
Earlier, after the redhead was dismissed by Fiske, she'd made her way back to Honey's office, where she was promptly introduced to everyone in her department by the excitable blonde. Anna had thought her SII co-workers seemed nice enough. Which made her wonder; did they even know what was going on right under their noses? Or maybe Fiske had them trained just that well as to appear nice and friendly. Either way, Anna planned on mining for more information.
"Well, well. If it ain't Miss Anna Summers. What a surprise to see you here." Anna heard a familiar voice sound from behind her. Quickly turning around, the redhead's eyes widened when they landed on the person speaking.
"Tia? Is that you, wh- Hi! Hey, what are you doing here?" she asked, smile growing on her face. Tiana raised a perfectly arched brow as well as a bag.
"I was finishin' up on some shopping at the boutique across the street when I saw you coming out of the Southern Isle Incorporated building. Care to explain what you were doing there, and why you haven't been to work or answerin' any of our calls for weeks?" Tiana asked, folding her arms, waiting for an explanation. The smile dropped from Anna's face as the redhead began to fidget nervously.
Shit.
What explanation could she possibly give? She didn't want to lie to her friend. But, she also couldn't tell her about her assignment. It could possibly put the entire operation in jeopardy. Anna cleared her throat and looked away.
"Well, I've been very busy and, I- I can't really explain anything right now."
The redhead felt a hand land on her shoulder and she looked up. Tiana was looking at her with concerned eyes.
"Everyone's been worried sick about you. We've all been wonderin' where you've been. You promised Aurora you'd meet with us, then you stood us all up. You refused to answer our calls or respond to our messages, and Phillips wouldn't tell us a thing about what you were workin on." Tiana paused and looked at her phone with a heavy sigh.
"Listen, I need to be on my way home, but this conversation ain't over. Meet me and the girls at Oaken's tomorrow for lunch. 3 o'clock. For real this time. And bring an explanation with you." the southern beauty told her as her phone pinged with a text from Lottie. Tiana hurried away before Anna could even accept or deny, simply throwing a "You better show." over her shoulder.
Anna sighed loudly in frustration and ran a hand through her hair. Great. As if she didn't have enough on her plate, now she has to think of what to tell four very high strong, worried, and pissed off women the reason behind her hiatus, without actually telling them the reason behind her hiatus. This was going to be fun.

7:41 P.M.
Elsa quickly snatched the ringing cell phone off of the coffee table. Not even bothering to look at the number she answered it, thinking it was Anna informing her she was on her way up.
"Hello?" she asked knowingly, preparing to hear Anna's cheerful 'Hi.' back.
"Hello, is this Miss Elsa Frost?" the voice on the other end asked.
Elsa's smile faltered as her brows furrowed in confusion.
"Um, yes, this is she…"
"Miss Frost, hello. My name is Dr. Jon Hennrich. I'm your brother Olaf's physician. I couldn't reach your former guardians Kai and Gerda at the moment so I decided to call you. There's been a development in Olaf's condition that I'd like to speak with you about." the man explained to the silent blonde.
Elsa's heart dropped into her stomach and she could feel her chest tighten. Telltale signs of the beginnings of a panic attack.
"Miss Frost?" the doctor asked after a long moment passed with no response from the blonde. Elsa tried to swallow past the hard lump in her throat as she responded.
"I um, I don't think I'm the person you should be talking to about this. I suggest trying Kai and Gerda again…" Elsa trailed off nervously.
"But it says here in Olaf's charts that you are his next of kin and his closest living relative, correct?"
"Yes, but I-" the doctor cut the blonde off midsentece.
"Then it's fine if I speak with you." he stated, pushing forward.
"As you may know, Olaf's condition has remained relatively stable over these past few months. Now that wasn't a good thing, but it also wasn't a bad thing." he paused for a second and Elsa could hear papers shuffling in the background followed by a heavy sigh.
"However, I'm afraid I have bad news. Sometimes our comatose patients are at a higher risk of developing certain illnesses due to their weakened immune systems. Their bodies aren't producing enough leukocytes or white blood cells if you will, to fight off certain infections." he paused again.
"It seems… it seems Olaf has contracted double pneumonia, meaning the infection is in both of his lungs. This is very common and it's not impossible to recover from, but in Olaf's condition…" Hennrich trailed off as if he were looking for the right words to say. Elsa clutched the phone tighter in her hand. What was he trying to tell her?
"W-what are you saying Dr. Hennrich?" she asked, voice strained and low. The doctor cleared his throat.
"What I'm saying Miss Frost, is that you should hope for the best but prepare for the worst. We've started him on several different medications and antibiotics to combat the virus but so far nothing has been helping. Of course we will try everything we can to help him… but honestly... things aren't looking too good."
Elsa felt like someone took an electric mixer to her insides and put it on high. Her stomach churned unpleasantly as she tried to digest what the doctor was telling her. Olaf. Her baby brother. There was a possibility that he could… No. That wasn't going to happen… It was Olaf. He was the sweetest kid in the world and he's survived a lot worst. She was looking forward to having her brother back. To spending more time with him like she should have been doing from the beginning. And now… No. This couldn't be happening….
"Miss Frost, are you alright? Your breathing has intensified. It sounds like you're hyperventilating. Do you need me to send for help?" the doctor asked in concern.
No!" she told him loudly before forcing herself to bring her voice to a semi normal level.
"I mean, no. No, I'm fine. I just- I'll need to get back to you on this issue. I- uh, I am not currently able to discuss this matter with you at- at this present moment. Goodbye Dr. Hennrich."
"But wait-" before he could even finish his response, Elsa had already ended the call. Throwing her cellphone on the couch, she ran into the kitchen.
Grabbing a cup from the cabinet, she poured herself a large glass of water and began to gulp it down.
'Oh God… Oh God… Oh God… Oh God…' Was the only thought going through the blonde's mind as she devoured the water and poured herself another glass.
'What am I going to do? I can't lose him. I can't lose my brother. He's all the family I have left in the entire world. I can't-' Elsa's thoughts were going a mile a minute. Tears unwillingly leaked from the blonde's eyes as she thought about Olaf lying in the hospital bed fighting for his life. Again. It was one thing knowing your brother was in a coma and would wake up again, it was something completely different knowing that he might not. This was not something she was ready to deal with. This was not something she could handle.
She couldn't lose her baby brother.
Sinking down to the tiled floor, Elsa clutched the glass to her chest as she sobbed uncontrollably.
And that's how Anna found her.
*******************FROZEN********************
Anna left her apartment. She had stopped in only long enough to change out of her work clothes and read the note Rapunzel had left her; telling her she was out again. Art exhibit or something.
Stepping off the elevator and onto Elsa's floor, Anna felt a bad feeling stirring in her gut. The floor was always quiet, but this was an eerie silence that filled the hallway. Cautiously approaching Elsa's door, she knocked a few times. After a moment went by and no answer, the redhead knocked again and called out to the blonde.
"Elsa? Elsa hey, it's me open up." Still no answer and Anna was getting worried. Pressing her ear to the door, the redhead could hear the slightest of sobbing. Alarmed, Anna banged on the door.
"Elsa! Elsa, I'm coming in right now." Anna shouted, grabbing the spare key from it's spot above the door frame and jamming it into the lock. Swinging the door open, she ran into the house, looking for signs of where the blonde may be. She stopped when she heard sobbing coming from the kitchen. Slowly approaching the blonde, Anna crouched down in front of her.
Elsa was currently sitting on the kitchen floor, knees pulled tightly to her chest and a empty glass cupped between a white fisted grip. She was sobbing softly, tears running down a flushed face.
Anna reached out to touch Elsa, quickly removing her hand when the blonde violently jerked away. She looked up at Anna with her tear stained face as if she was just now realizing the redhead was crouching there.
The two stared at each other for a long moment. Anna said nothing as she changed from her crouching position to a sitting position, scooting next to Elsa, sitting so close that Anna doubted a piece of paper could be wedged between them.
They said nothing as Anna slowly wrapped an arm around Elsa, pulling the blonde into a warm embrace. Elsa just buried her face in the redhead's shoulder.
AN: Hey, hey, hello. SO I'm KINDA back from my hiatus. I can't help it, I'm so freaking busy and so stressed. But every week that went by without me updating was stressing me out even more. I felt like I was letting y'all down. So I finally finished this chapter. I hope you liked it. A lot of stuff happened, right? I'm keeping the ball rolling. Not staying on one aspect for too long. Normally I would have dragged Anna's first day at SII out for like 3 or 4 chapters. But, I feel that's a bit much. But we won't speed through important things.
If you guys have any questions, comments, or concerns, PM or review and I'll try to answer them without spoiling anything.
Anyway, see you guys (hopefully) soon!
