Tell Me How To Fix You
Chapter 53
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: "I'm back by popular demand and I came to slay bitch." Hello everyone! I have not abandoned you guys or my stories! You have no idea how busy I am and how long it took me to get this chapter out. I've literally been trying to finish this chapter for about a month and a half. So. Much. Work. Work. Work. Work. Work. Anyway, here's an update. This is another set up chapter with some Elsanna at the end. Next chapter will be full of Elsanna fluff and drama? Hmmm. Anyway, enjoy! Sorry for any and all mistakes!
Anna made a detour to her apartment. Unlocking the rickety door, she stepped inside and dropped her things by the entrance. She needed to change into something more comfortable before heading over to Elsa's, and a shower wouldn't hurt either. Being pressed up against a bunch of sweaty strangers in a cramped metal box tended to make her feel that way. Venturing further inside, she stood in the middle of her small den. Looking around, she marveled at how foreign her apartment felt to her. She slept here every night, showered here, and changed, but Elsa apartment still felt more like home than this small cold space.
A loud clatter came from the bathroom area, making Anna jump and let out a surprised yelp. Mind racing, the redhead contemplated running into her bedroom and grabbing the baseball bat Kristoff had given her for protection from behind her bed. But before her brain could tell her legs to move, she saw a familiar head of chopped brown hair pop through the bathroom door.
"Rapunzel?" Anna called out to the girl in shocked relief. Rapunzel's head snapped up and she looked startled for a second before realizing who it was and smiling.
"Oh hey Anna, what's up?" She asked, stepping further into the room. She brought the small towel she had cliched in her right hand up to her head, beginning to dry the brown locks.
"Jesus Punz, I thought you were a robber or something." Anna sighed, plopping down on the sofa. Rapunzel walked the short distance to the couch and flopped down beside the redhead.
"Yeah, because everyone knows the bathroom is the first place any good robber would jack." Rapunzel said with an eye roll, then she smirked, "Besides, all your stuff is crap, what are the gonna steal? The shitty coffee maker? The broken microwave? Or that busted relic you call a laptop?"
Anna scowled and pushed the brunette off the couch. Rapunzel landed with a hard thud. She laughed hysterically as Anna pouted on the couch.
"At least I have my OWN apartment and didn't sneak away from my crazy obsessive stepmom." Anna sniffed and pointedly looked away from her cousin. Rapunzel was right, there was absolutely nothing in her apartment worth stealing. She owned a box tv for Christ sake and her laptop still ran on Windows Vista. She shuttered. That didn't mean the brunette had to point that out.
"Oh harsh. Don't remind me. She's been calling me nonstop for the past week. The fall semester is about to start and she wants me to come back home long enough for her to 'Spend some quality time with my little flower before she abandons me for good.' God, why is that woman so melodramatic?" She asked with a huff, laying her damp head against Anna's knees.
"Believe it or not, she does love you Punz. It's just been you and her for a while now, you can't blame her for wanting to spend a little time with you before you start college. I mean, you HAVE been away from her all summer. She probably really misses you. Maybe you should go spend some time with her before you move down here for good and leave her in that big ol empty house alone."
Rapunzel closed her eyes and groaned. "I hate it when you lecture me. And I hate it even more when you're right... Fine, I'll call her tonight and tell her I'm headed back next week to spend the last two weeks before fall semester with her."
"I knew you'd do the right thing." Anna smiled and got up from the couch. Rapunzel tilted her head up to look at the redhead.
"Hey, what are you doing here anyway?" She asked, confused as to why Anna wasn't at Elsa's apartment.
Anna raised an eyebrow. "I could ask you the same Miss MIA for two and a half weeks. I actually live here you know."
"You do?" Rapunzel joked, trying to change the subject of her whereabouts for the last couple of weeks.
"You know what I mean Anna. Why are you here instead of at Elsa's? Did you two have another fight?" Rapunzel asked in an exasperated tone.
Anna scoffed. "No, we did not. You act as if we have some big existential crisis every week."
Rapunzel just stared at the redhead.
"Whatever. I'm here to shower and change clothes before heading over. Is that alright with you O Great and All Knowing Rapunzel?"
Rapunzel rolled her eyes again. "Hey, don't get mad at me because you and the blonde billionaire break up and get back together every other weekend. Seriously you guys romance is like a bad melodrama. Sweet most of the time and overly dramatic at others." Rapunzel snorted with a playful smile. Anna rolled her eyes.
"Yeah well, I think on this week's episode of All My Problems we're going to be hit with another drama shitstorm." Anna sighed, walking into her bedroom. Rapunzel followed behind and stood in the doorway as she watched Anna gather some clothes and a towel.
"What do you mean? What's going on now?" She asked, eyebrows drawn in concern.
"I need a shower first, I'll talk to you about it when I get out." Rapunzel moved from the doorway to let Anna pass. She saw the redhead's shoulders sag a bit and wondered what had happened… or what was going to happen.
**************FROZEN**************
20 minutes later Anna emerged out of the shower refreshed and a bit less stressed.
"Thanks for leaving me a LITTLE hot water by the way Punz. So considerate." Anna said in a overly happy tone. Rapunzel smirked and barely glanced away from the television's screen as she responded,
"I try."
Anna rolled her eyes and made her way over to the green couch. Throwing herself down beside her cousin, Anna sighed and placed her head on the brunette's shoulder, closing her eyes for a moment.
"Tell Auntie Punz what's wrong with you feisty pants." Rapunzel joked lightly, placing her hand on top of damp red locks and running her fingers through, massaging the redhead's scalp in a soothing gesture. Anna sighed again.
"I found someone…" She began. Rapunzel's hand froze and she looked at the redhead in shock, cutting her off before she could continue.
"You mean besides Elsa? Are you cheating on Elsa? Oh my- what the hell Anna?!" Rapunzel pulled hard on Anna's hair and the redhead winced and cried out in pain.
"Ow, ow, OW! What? No of course I'm not cheating on Elsa! I found someone to help Elsa, professionally! A psychiatrist. Geez." Anna grabbed her sore head and began rubbing soothing circles on her throbbing scalp.
The fire left Rapunzel's eyes and she sighed with relief. "Oh thank goodness. I thought you had done something stupid. I mean the way you were acting all nervous and skittish..." She then paused and thought about what the redhead had said.
"Wait. You called a psychiatrist in to help Elsa with her OCD?" Rapunzel asked with a eyebrow lift.
"Well, I haven't called her yet, but I plan to…" Anna trailed off.
"Anna, that's fantastic! Why are you so nervous about that?" The brunette asked confused. Anna threw herself back into the couch and let out a sound of aggregation.
"Argh! Because I haven't told Elsa, and you know how she is with people and I don't know how she'll react and I don't know if I should talk to her about it first or if I should just spring it on her or ARGH!" This was so difficult to figure out.
"Anna, calm down ok? Everything is going to be fine. Listen, I'm happy you're finally taking a big step to getting Elsa help. That's so great. Ok, so, you're not sure if you should tell Elsa or spring it on her. Springing it on her is a bad idea. Who knows how she'll react if she's just thrown into a situation where you're asking her to talk to this complete stranger out of nowhere. Talk to her about it. Tell her what you plan on doing. Tell her why this needs to be done. Ultimately it's Elsa life, but you two should try to come to a decision together."
Anna listened to everything her cousin was saying and soaked it in. She was right. Her and Elsa needed to discuss this before she even made the call. And if Elsa just totally flat out refused? Well…
"You're right. God, how did you get so smart? What happened to the girl who got high and thought I could use her hair to climb up the 2nd story window?" Anna laughed.
"She grew up and matured into an elegant young wo- Ohhh Steven Universe is on! We are the crystal gems! We'll always save th-"
Anna stood up and shook her head, grabbing her phone from the counter and walking into her bedroom. Waking the screen, she unlocked the phone and typed in an all too familiar number.
"Hi Anna, I was just about to call you. Where are you? I sorta thought you'd be here by now."
A smile involuntary crossed the redhead's lips.
"Hey snowflake. I'm at my apartment with Punz-"
"...and Pearl. And Steven!" Could be heard being sung loudly from the other room. She heard Elsa laugh and her heart began beating faster.
"I take it you're on your way then?" The blonde asked.
"Of course! I'm going to grab some pjs and we're going to shove our faces with pizza and binge watch some American Horror Story." Anna said excitedly. She heard Elsa laugh again and thought to herself if she could only hear one sound for the rest of her life, that would be it.
"Hmm, Coven? I mean, that is the best one after all." The blonde stated and Anna could hear the challenge in her voice.
The redhead gasped in false offense. "Um, excuse me princess, but I think we both know Asylum is the superior season. Jessica Lange as a crazy 1960s nun?"
"Yes, but Jessica Lange and Angela Basset's verbal throw downs, plus I mean Kathy Bates brings her magic to the table as well."
Anna laughed, "Pun intended?" The redhead couldn't see but she just knew the blonde was rolling her eyes.
"Just get over here." Elsa sweetly demanded. Anna's smile grew.
"Okay snowflake, be there in a sec. Love you."
"Love you too, hurry."
Anna hung up and her smile slowly faded from her face as she realized she still had to bring up the subject of Jane.
AN: I really do hope you enjoyed this update. I'm working on the next chapter as we speak and I just really really really wanted to get an update out. It was making me so sad and anxious to know I hadn't updated at least one of my stories in so long. Anyway, like I said, I'm working on the next chapter now, it SHOULD be out soon but I'm learning not to make promises I may not be able to keep anymore. But I can promise the next chapter will be Elsanna centric. You all deserve that for being patient little kittens.
Hey guys any questions, comments, or concerns about the story hit me up via PM or review. I always take your criticisms to heart to try and make my story better for you guys. Missed you all! See you (hopefully) soon!
