Penny struggled on as head of department, she would eventually get home every night from her endless meetings and then help Amy and Sheldon plan their wedding. This wedding was the light at the end of the tunnel which kept Penny going. Amy and Sheldon decided get married 5 months after their they told Penny and Leonard about their engagement.
Amy and Sheldon were married at the Caltech Athenaeum club. Sheldon's family came out from Texas as did Amy's California family. Caltech work friends from Physics and Neuroscience were there as well. One very special pair of guests were Emeritus Professors Schwartz and Walsh from Nebraska, Penny's parents. Leonard was best man and Penny was maid of honour.
At the wedding reception Sheldon gave his speech.
"Hello everyone, welcome to Caltech on this special day. First I would like to thank our friends and neighbours Penny and Leonard for everything they have done to help make this wedding happen. If it hadn't been for their wedding a couple of years ago I may never have met my wonderful wife Amy. I work at Caltech in the Physics department of which Professor Penny Walsh is the department head. Penny and Leonard kindly invited me to their wedding where I met Amy for the first time. Three days later Amy forgot to bring her lunch to work so she went to the Caltech canteen where we met for the second time. Soon after that Amy and I were having lunch together every day at work, eventually I realised that Amy was much more than my lunchtime friend and here we are at our wedding. Here's to Penny and Leonard..."

The next day Penny was so tired she couldn't face the car journey to take the newlyweds to the airport for their honeymoon, Leonard had to take them by himself. Before they left Penny said goodbye to her friends.
"What a day we had yesterday, I never thought I would see Amy's wedding day but she was obviously waiting for Dr. Right, that's you Sheldon. Sorry I can't come with you to the airport but I am feeling very tired after all the fun we had yesterday. You two have fun in England on your honeymoon, I love you both."
Penny hugged her friends then said "OK Leonard, take them to the airport, see you in 2 weeks. I am going back to bed."
1 hour later Penny found herself in the bathroom vomiting into the sink! When the vomiting was all over she got out her phone and called Leonard
"Hi Leonard, did Amy and Sheldon get away on time? OK, could you stop at the pharmacist on the way back home..."
