"They are finished! Come on!" The black Squid in front of the whole pack was accelerating while sliding on the floor.

"RUN FOR YOUR LIFES!" Greta twisted behind, as she began lifting her legs widely and ran in the roughest way imaginable.

"I… like, it's too late for me…!" Bars gritted his teeth. "Gotta be the best wall ever, now…!" His eyes squeezed.

"DON'T SAY THAT!" The girl returned forward.

The nearest black Squid jumped, as black puffs of smoke evaporated from the head.

"Ah, aaaaah!" His eyes expanded.

PAF!

Bars fell on his back, as he opened his tentacles and let his weapon slid some more feet away from him. A large black cloud was raising from above the army of Squids, as each of them were sporting a different color.

The black ink sitting on the floor vanished too, leaving nothing but a dusted floor. None of the Squids were releasing any ink trail behind, as they advanced slower than before. In less than a second, they all came to a stop and began chatting loudly.

"The sorcery is this…?" Greta opened her mouth a bit.

"Ow! Ow!" The hit Squid was bouncing up and down like a fish out of his tank, slamming his tentacles down and squeezing his eyes. "It hurts soooo much!"

"Oh… man…" Bars lifted his back, watching the horde of Squids extending for one quarter of the hallway and scratching his stomach. "… like, weren't you all dark-blue or something…?"

The boy stood up, as he left a pant. He turned behind, looking at his Roller weapon on the floor. He moved towards it, picking it up and aiming it at his foes.

"Guess they ran out of juice, strong boy!" Greta reached Bars, stopping on his right side and grinning a bit. "Which means… they cannot even make us laugh with their jumps!"

"Retreat!" A blue Squid was pushing herself on the ground with her tentacles. "They are going to splat us all!"

"Yeah!" Greta pointed her Splattershot at the whole army, as she began flashing all over herself. "You heard her right! Run away! Go splitely splat! Make a hasta-la-bye bye moment!"

Bars turned his head over her, as his mouth opened: he was also flashing visibly.

"… girl, like…" His free tentacle pointed at her face. "Why are you turning into a flashing signal lamp…?"

"You called me WHAT?!" She frowned, pointing her head at the boy. "You blockhead! I thought I" She gasped loudly, as her irises shrunk. "Why are you flashing like a signal lamp?!"

"Exactly what I was saying!" He opened his tentacles wide. "… wait, me?"

"Yeah, you!" Her tentacle tapped his chest, while bending forward. "I'm talking to you!"

"But I thought you were the one flashing!" He shrugged. "So, now I'm flashing too…"

Greta lowered her head, scanning through herself and gasping some more. The Squids were all watching, as none of them were moving an inch away from the scene.

"This is not good… this is NOT turfing good!" She walked in place.

Their flashes were now increasing in frequency, as Greta jumped twice before bouncing on Bars' tentacles.

"Gaaaaaaahh, hheeeeellp!" Her head went against his chest.

"Ehm… like…" He chuckled, as his eyes closed. "Maybe it's not as bad as it"

SPLAT!

Both exploded in blue ink, as each flew away as a little Squid.

"You and your biiiiigg mmooouuutthh!" Greta went past the upper side of the wall.

"The monsters are gone!" An orange Squid jumped up and down. "We are free!"

Eventually, all Squids began jumping! Some of them were spinning as well!

"AAAAHH!" Another orange Squid pushed herself past the crowd. "TROUBLE AHEAD!"

They were now looking at the end of the hallway, noticing a group of Inklings wearing a different type of kimono and holding a butterfly net each: the ropes of each butterfly net was sporting a different color than the rest. The Inklings were running, few of them were panting and slightly slowing down.

More Inklings appeared from behind the Squids, running as well. The nearest one swung his magenta net, surrounding a magenta Squid and lifting the captured foe back up.

"Wh-what the shell!" The Squid was waving his tentacles, while squeezing his eyes. "I'm stuck! Glued to this net!"

The Squids began scrambling, changing their directions on the whim or hitting each other by accident. A blue net was cast on a green Squid, as it was lift upwards.

"Ouch! Yeeooww!" The Squid kept yelping.

The female Inkling swung her net, throwing the Squid away from it.

"Sorry!" She downturned her mouth.

"Be careful!" An Inkling man frowned at her, as he lifted his net and his two captured orange Squids. "They will make you pay for that!"

"Sheesh! It was just a mistake!" Another man swung his blue net on a runaway Squid, lifting it back up.

"Take this!" A magenta Squid bonked a woman's legs.

She twisted behind, together with her swing: the net hit the Squid right in the middle, lifting him with ease.

"Nooo!" His tentacles were trying to push himself out of the ropes.

"W-we are done for!" Another magenta Squid covered her eyes with her tentacles.

"There are too many of us focusing on those Squids!" A tall man turned around, holding a net and three captured yellow Squids. "Who's going to look for the remaining mortals?!"

His head pointed at a yellow Squid sliding over a door. He snorted, walking towards the fugitive.

"Look out!" A yellow Squid grabbed the ropes, as small tears were formed below the eyes.

"He's going after you!" Another one went above the first, waving his tentacles to his left side.

Multiple voices and screams were mixing in the air, as the yellow Squid bounced over the door handle and grasped it.

SWISH!

"Oooohh nnooooo!" He rolled all the way to the bottom of the net, hitting an ally.

"Why NONE of you are hearing me?!" The man growled, as his free hand curled into a fist and his chest puffed. "Who's going to search the remaining mortals?!"

"Another team was already sent for that purpose!" A woman swung her net, missing a jumping Squid of blue color. "You are the one who doesn't hear anyone!"

"Bah!" He stomped the floor, showing some veins coming from his throat, as he swung his net. "It's so hard communicating with all of you!"

The Inklings kept swinging and lifting as many Squids as they could. One of them were chasing after a pushing magenta Squid, which was moving in a zigzag motion.

SWISH!

The Squid hit the net's ropes, as the catcher lifted him before his eyes would blink!

… what is this madness…?

A woman tripped on a sliding Squid, falling on her stomach.

Oooohh… my head is spinniiiinng…!

A man swung his net to the left, then to the right, catching two orange Squids in succession.

Stop spinning… stop spinning, please… I SAID STOOOOOOPP!

FUM!

Her hands were pushing on the bed, her arms were stretching as much as they could. Her eyelids were slightly down and her tentacles had their tips bended on the bedsheet. The TV screen was depicting an Inkling girl climbing a rocky wall, while carrying a heavy bag on her back.

"I can do this… I must do this!" A female voice was coming from the television.

"… uh… guh…" Greta's eyelids lowered a bit more. "… dasquid…" She inhaled air from her nose, producing a loud noise. "… what a ride…"

She stretched her posture and lifting her arms, snorting and squeezing her eyes.

"… uuuh…" She fell on her bed, with her back down. "I must have dreamt a marathon…! Or was it a… … a marathon where I pulled a truck for the entire race…?" Her right hand covered her eyes. "Oooohh… to think that sleeping was supposed to"

"Hhmmm! What's cookin', Marie?"

"French fries… and news."

"Since when you include news in your diet, now?!"

The TV kept streaming the two female voices, as the girl's ears went up.

"The Squid Sisters… at this time of the hour?!" Greta lifted her posture back, watching the TV and opening her mouth wide. "What cheatery is this?!" Her eyes expanded.

The screen was now presenting Callie on the left side and Marie on the right, both standing in front a mega-screen depicting Inkopolis.

"Yay! Delicious news comin' right up, folks!" Callie strikes a pose, while smiling and closing her eyes.

"Yeah… first up is the case of Happy Squid Land." Marie lazily waved her right hand, pointing her irises over a random point.

"Happy Squid…" Greta's eyes blinked. "… uh?"

"Double yay!" Callie's eyes sparkled, as her hands clasped and went near her right cheek. "Not only is the first news delicious… but also filled with happiness!"

"Actually, there is quite the mountain of salt on this one…" Marie sighed, watching directly over the screen. "The police found devastation, misery and criminality… in other words, a building completely destroyed."

"Eeeek!" Callie jumped, showing her palms and expressing a downturned mouth. "That's not even salt, Marie!" Her hands slapped her cheeks, pressing on each of them. "That's mush! On plain sight!"

Greta bounced off the bed, as her face went paler. She rushed over the door, forgetting her slippers behind.
