Emerald Zelgar, Head Gamemaker
I push open the door to the President's office, a large folder of my latest work tucked under my arm. "President Snow, you wanted the plans for this year's Games?" With as much confidence as I can muster, I stride into the room, dropping the heavy stack of designs on the table and taking a seat across from him. "Yes, Emerald, last year, as I am sure you are aware, was hardly your best. Show me what you have this time." Not my best, maybe, but certainly better than that failed second rebellion's Head Gamemaker, although I must thank him for dying and giving me this role. He served President Snow's purpose though, an all too recent reminder to those who hold my position of power how easily we are replaced if we fail to impress. My hands shaking, I flip through the files, looking for the final draft of the Arena. With every second that passes, I feel his eyes on me all the more. Who made such a mess of the work folder? I make a mental note to get everything organised as soon as I can and sack whichever idiot it was who made me look stupid in front of the President of Panem. I finally find the layout, sketches all over the page showing off designs for different sectors of the Arena, along with potential traps and hazards to add. Removing it from the pile, I hand it to him and watch to see how he will react as he skims the paper. "This looks good. Get it built. And do not disappoint me this time, Emerald. You will find I am not always so lenient on failures." Snow, lenient? I choke back a laugh that would almost certainly have gotten me killed. He places the design back on top of my documents and I eagerly grab it, exiting as quickly as I can. I am safe. But this year will have to be good.
A/N: Hello everyone! I'm starting my first fanfic, a SYOT! Sorry, I'm not very good at this whole writing thing, so not a great prologue... anyway, the form and tribute list are on my profile. Submissions via PM only please. Here's some basic rules:
No flaming others, but you can criticise me in the reviews so long as you make sure it isn't just telling me how bad a writer I am - it has to provide clear reasons.(I really appreciate those reviews. It helps me improve so my next SYOT won't be the total mess I'm sure this will become :D)
It will be first-come-first-serve and a reservation will hold a spot for two days then I'll open it back up.
There's no hard date limit on submitting, but I will start once I have 24 tributes.
Up to three tributes please. Of course the chances of one of your submissions surviving are increased if you submit another to die early, but feel free to give me anything!
No 'perfect' Mary Sue/Gary Stu tributes or carbon copies of canon characters please.
Please submit via PM, not reviews. (but do review as well, thank you!)
Be creative!
I think that's all for now. I won't introduce every tribute in 'normal' Reaping chapters, and I haven't decided on the format yet, but I think I'll either do a few Reaping chapters then introduce other tributes later in the pre-Games or do the Reapings as a TV viewer (idea taken from veryfirstpage). I hope you submit characters and I can't wait to see what I get to work with!
EDIT: I would also love mentor and escort submissions but I can always create my own if no one submits characters for those positions :) the forms are also on my profile now. Thank you for reading!
