"Uff... the stomach ache is returning stronger than ever..."
Mirii was sliding her thumb on her smartphone's screen, while reading the words printed on its screen.
"Gaaah...!" She lowered her device, keeping her guts tight and her eyes shut. "I-I can't proceed while I'm under the other form... my performance would drastically decrease!"
She shivered, hugging herself.
"Not to mention, the income of dirt would tremendously increase... as if I wasn't dirty enough!"
Where could that girl possibly be?!
Mirii rose her ears, turning her shoulders to the left and trying to look in between the bush's leafs.
Anywhere?
That's the point, genius!
The girl's hands went on the leafs in front of her eyes, as she carefully pushed them down...
Any ideas where she is?
If I had any, I would had used them way earlier!
Two Inkling men, each wearing a blue suit and a police-like cap, walked right in the middle of Mirii's sight, giving her their backs and observing the very-faint yellowish wall.
"She sure didn't climb this ripid wall..." The right one rose his head, adjusting his hat. "There isn't any sign of ink either."
"What would be the point for that stunt?" The left one gave a slap behind his ally's neck. "Why they ordered you to come with me?! You never get anything done!"
The other man also gave a slap behind the left Inkling's neck.
"Wanna pick a fight?!" The hitter rose his fists up to his face, stepping away from his ally for some feet. "You will meet the ground, bud!"
"You can bet on your distinctive that YOU will meet the ground!" The hit man swung his hand down, as he shook his head at the same time. "But the match is postponed until we find that girl!"
"Screw that!" The right man hid behind his fists, while frowning. "You are going to hit me again! I just know it!"
The left man slammed his hips with both his hands, casually noticing a large bush on the small garden. Mirii was already down on her back, silently breathing and pressing the soft grass underneath.
... let's check that bush.
Mirii's eyes expanded.
Isn't it a bit bland for a hideout? She might have-
Shut up for once! Follow me already!
Forget that! You will attack me again!
Grrrr... you are gonna get it, later...
Step sounds began emerging slowly but steadly, increasing in volume by the second! The girl grasped the grass on her reach, as she was experiencing another stomach ache... as if that wasn't enough, Mirii's tentacles began itching like mad!
She twisted her head sideways, looking at leafs and very small openings in between. The step sounds were so loud, they were stomping on her eardrums.
Frush, frush.
The face of the Inkling man made his appearance in between the leafs. He stared like a statue...
Found something?!
"... I wish!" His little eyes squeezed. "You couldn't even imagine how pitch-dark this bush is!"
His hands resumed their diggings, as his head poked in each hole he just created.
Ha ha! You were so sure I was the one with the dumb ideas here!
The man snorted, pulling himself out with nothing but stress to retrieve.
This one was the most possible solution at the moment! If you came here instead of complaining, this bush would had been burned alive!
You would had splatted me right away, if I came!
Oooooh, I can't wait to return inside my little cabin... watching some news...
What about the fight?
THAT will come... once I crush down a wall, first.
Inside the bush, something small but familiar sneaked out of the darkest spot of the refuge... Mirii was the one! She kept pushing herself with her tentacles... until she reached the middle spot once again.
"I'm almost done with those two incompetents..." She returned into her humanoid form, standing down on her back just like she did before... "... it's a simple matter of patience..."
Can I see your brute strength in action?
Turfing move out, already! How can you think about yourself this much?!
Keep yourself away from me! I know how to punch and I'm not afraid to use it!
Turfing gee! My ally is surely scared of...
The voices were fading more and more... as Mirii stands up and grabbed the leafs once more. Pushing them down, she tracked whatever it was left: just the road and the wall ahead.
"Phew... cunning strategies always work!" She smiled, taking the opportunity to breath right from the outside. "Although, I cannot stay here for the eternity..."
She mustered some air through her nose, as her face properly frowned. Her legs were charging themselves like springs...
"No one on sight... just me and an innocuous piece of land..."
Frush!
She rolled out of her improvised hideout, analyzing her surroundings once she formed a curled pose: the road on the left and a normal asphalt on the right, were the only elements available for her visible sensors.
Mirii sniped a smile, before jumping back up and get her legs up and running over the left.
"As I deeply calculated, those wretched guards are no match for my superior intellect!" She just turned the left corner, seeing the longest stretch of asphalted road ending with a hardly-recognizable closed gate. "With the help of perfection, no guard can hope to outsmart the pure essence of logic!"
Frish, frish, frish...
Something fast was coming from behind the thinking girl...
"I shouldn't leave Hunley behind... but I'm sure he will get out of this area just fine." She couldn't stop her mouth from forming a downturned shape. "He has some specials at his disposal... specials I wish to have..."
"MIRII! WAIT!"
As soon as she responded with a backwards twist in midair, the girl tripped and fell as a Squid.
Hun was looking at her, expressing both happiness and worry on his face. His mind, however, was as focused as his own eyes... he dashed forward, already showing a leaning hand over his friend.
"Mirii!" As soon as he was in range, Hun slowed down and still kept his hand trusted forward. "You don't have any idea...!"
The Squid watched the incoming hand stopping above her head.
"Hunley... w-we must escape! Now!"
"Escape from who, exactly...?" The boy leaned forward, as he mentally checks any recent thought related with the case at hand. "... I-I don't understand...!"
"I-I cannot let any 'doctor' run any expirement on my tentacles...!" Mirii returned back into her hunanoid form, almost hitting Hun's hand palm. "Th-they aren't safe at all!"
"What are you saying, Mirii?!" Hun said almost immediately after, finding the time to frown at her and retreating his leaning hand back. "They just want to solve all those stomach aches you are having right now...!"
Mirii frowned too, while shakily walking backwards.
"Th-that's a lie, Hunley...!" She also shakes her head. "They do not have any intention of helping me... they want to throw me right inside the 'utility' room and subject me to experiments that will ruin my life!"
"Why are you saying that?!" His mouth opened wide, not finding a reason to close it right back.
"Because..." Her head lowered, closing her eyes and keeping her feet still. "... I managed to find the truth behind such room. All of it."
Hun couldn't close his mouth, not even if he actually tried it. Reopening her eyes, Mirii stared back at Hun...
"Hunley... it's up to you, now." She showed her right hand palm at him. "Do you wish giving your trust over me... or over a bunch of unknown Squids?"
Hun looked down, then back over Mirii... as fast thoughts were scrolling through his mental system.
