Chapter 11 - Celebration
'How's the investigation going?' asked Ginny while eating her soup.
'Slowly' admitted Harry 'We're too busy stuck on stakeouts to follow up on any leads.'
Sensing his unease Ginny reached over to place her hand over his, he smiled at the contact. 'You'll work it out. You always do.'
'I know, normally I don't have to follow rules.' He said bitterly. He was really starting to get annoyed with Dawlish, ignoring his suggestions. If he doesn't let me help I'll have to start digging on my own. Since he had been working for Dawlish Harry hadn't had chance to look at some of the other smaller cases, he was sure they were connected. Not that Dawlish agreed.
'We all have to grow up some time Harry.' Ginny said with amusement. 'Just don't give up OK?'
'I won't don't worry.' She squeezed his hand. 'You looking forward to going back to Hogwarts?'
She grimaced 'Not really, I would rather stay with you.' It was Harry's turn to put on an encouraging smile. 'I'll just have to make the most of it.'
'You've only got a year left and before you know it you'll be done.'
'I know, it's just I don't want to be apart again.'
'I promise we won't be. I'll visit as often as I can and we can owl.'
'It still won't be the same as talking to you everyday.' Harry couldn't stop a grin spreading across his face. 'What is it? Come on Harry what are you hiding?'
'You'll have to wait until you get your presents later.' This Saturday was the first one between Harry and Ginny's Birthdays. Although Molly had arranged a joint party for the following week, the couple still wanted a private celebration.
Ginny knew Harry had something planned for her birthday and was desperate to find out what. She gently ran her foot up the inside of his leg seductively, happy to see his face get redder as she worked her way up.
'Please Harry, you don't really want to keep me waiting do you?' she fluttered her eye lashes at him.
'You'll have to do better than that.' He said leaning across his empty plate.
'Oh really.' She smiled sweetly at him whilst leaning in. Her lips were a millimetre apart from his own when she made a soft purring noise. He closed his eyes and moved to meet her. When their lips didn't meet he opened his eyes, blinking.
Ginny was sat back in her chair grinning impishly at him. 'Nah Ah Ah. You'll get nothing till you tell me this plan of yours.'
'You are such a tease.' He moaned.
'I know' she said smiling, her foot was getting dangerously close to his groin, it was killing him.
'Are you done with the starters?' Harry jumped, which wasn't a great thing to do with Ginny's foot being where it was and his eyes started to water in pain.
Barely supressing her laughter Ginny saved him from answering 'Yeah we are thanks.' The waitress cleared the table and Ginny went around to his side of the table where Harry still had his eyes closed. 'Are you OK sweetheart? Would you like me to rub it better?' she whispered quietly.
'You're going to be the death of me.'
'I know and you love it. I'm just going the little girl's room.' She quickly glanced back to find Harry watching her arse, she giggled to herself when he quickly looked away after she caught him.
'Thank you for a lovely dinner Mr Potter.'
'That's quite alright Miss Weasley.'
They were walking with their arms around each other through the streets of muggle Liverpool after their meal. Harry had managed to convince Ginny's parents to let them stay in the city for the night and they were just heading back to the hotel now.
'It's nice to be able to this now.' She said quietly. Since revealing their relationship they had managed to go on several dates outside of the Burrow, both of them were finding it rather refreshing.
They reached the Gratsburg Hotel and quickly made their way to their room. Ginny sat on the cosy sofa in the middle while Harry got them a drink. Once settled Ginny summoned her present for Harry, handing it to him with a smile.
'Thank you' said Harry taking the small parcel. He carefully unwrapped it to reveal a small black box. Looking at her curiously he opened it. He smiled when he saw the small gold chain. 'Ginny it's amazing' he breathed. She smiled wide and helped him put it on.
'I've charmed it, if you stroke the catch without trying to take it off, it will warm and dry you.' He tried it and instantly felt a warming sensation running through him. 'I thought it might help with the cold nights in winter if you're on stake out.'
He cupped her face in his hands. 'It's fantastic Ginny' and kissed her fully.
'Now it's time for your presents.'
'Presents? Harry you said you wouldn't go mad.'
'I haven't.' He promised. 'Only one of them is paid for, the others,' he seemed to struggle 'Well the others you will see.'
Ginny furrowed her brow trying to work out what they might be. Harry held his hand out and a suspiciously thin pack entered it. 'You haven't' she whispered.
'Only one way to find out.' He handed her the package and she tore into it.
She pulled out the broom and marvelled at it. It had a long pearly white polished handle and a neatly clipped tail. She didn't need to look at the inscription to know what this is. 'A Snowstorm' she gasped. 'How?' was all she could say.
The Snowstorm was the replacement for the Firebolt. It hadn't been released to the public yet with only pro Quidditch teams being able to get hold of them. 'I owled them to see if I could get my hands on one. They seemed more than happy to help.' He said sheepishly.
She looked at him incredulously 'Yeah because they would just sell this to anyone who owled.' She smiled at him 'Thankyou Harry.' She wrapped him in a bone crushing hug that she hoped showed how grateful she was. She knew how he hated using his fame, even to get a broom a couple of months early. 'I can't wait to fly it.'
'You're a good match for it.'
'Will you help me train?'
'Course I will, I got a broom for myself to.'
'What one of these?' she asked excitedly.
'No, I got a Firebolt. I don't need anything more than that.'
She admired the broom in silence for another few minutes before Harry passed her a sheet of paper.
'What's this?'
'The secret to Fred and George's success.' Her mouth fell open. 'I should have given it you last year, but I think you will still get some use out of it.'
'Are you sure Harry? I know it belonged your Dad, Sirius and Remus.' She was never going to mention Pettigrew's name with those.
'I'm sure, do you remember how to use it?' She nodded 'Then that leads me to give you this.' He handed her a silvery cloak.
'No Harry I can't.'
'I know it's going to be tough for you Gin. This will help you get away from it all.'
She was genuinely flattered that he wants to give her this. That invisibility cloak is probably his most prized possession. Without speaking she launched herself at him. They broke apart after a few minutes panting.
'I can't take this from you Harry.'
'It's OK Gin.'
'No it's not, the cloak helps to keep you safe doesn't it?' He nodded 'Then keep it. You need it more than I do. Please Harry.' She stared at him and he stared back until he sighed.
'OK, are you sure?'
'Yes.'
'Very well then this leaves this.' He handed her a small parcel. She opened it to reveal a small mirror.
She looked at it and frowned at her reflection 'Thanks Harry, no offense but I'm not that vain to carry a mirror around.' He laughed 'What's so funny?'
'it's not a normal mirror. Say my name into it and watch.'
She looked at him as if deciding whether he was playing a joke then shrugged and did as he asked. The reflection clouded over, then began to change. It went from black, then through a blur of colours before Harry's face appeared.
'Bloody hell that's brilliant.' She heard her own voice speak at the same time from next to her. She looked over to see Harry holding an identical mirror. 'This is amazing can we talk through these?'
'Yeah, and they should work through the walls of Hogwarts and at any distance.'
'This means we can keep in touch with each other?' He nodded. 'You're bloody brilliant.' she gasped as he broke the connection and stowed his mirror away.
He blushed 'I've put an unbreakable charm on them so they shouldn't break, if they do, I can always make a new pair.'
She put her own mirror away and straddled his lap 'You're amazing.' She said chokily.
'Are you OK?'
She didn't answer and kissed him soundly. The longer they didn't break apart the deeper their desire became. Neither of them minded, as the kiss deepened Harry moaned in the back of his throat while Ginny purred.
His hands gently caressed her and he slowly undid the zip at the back of her dress. When he ran his hands over her exposed back her breathe hitched. She didn't pull away instead she unbuttoned his shirt slowly and then dragged it off him. She ran her hands over his chest and she could feel their excitement growing.
'Don't stop Harry.' She moaned in his ear after he had moved to her neck. 'Don't stop for anything. I'm ready.'
He leaned back and looked her in the eye 'You sure?'
'Yeah as long as you are.'
He smiled at her 'Yeah I am.' They resumed kissing and Harry soon had the dress off her completely. As she kissed his neck he groaned 'You're so beautiful Ginny.' She moaned with pleasure in response as he caressed her.
All of a sudden, he picked her up, giggling she wrapped her legs around him and snogged him as he carried her to the bedroom.
Harry groggily awoke the next morning, instead of immediately opening his eyes, he pulled the beautiful woman next to him closer and sighed contently. She started lightly tracing a circle on his chest to let him know she was awake.
'Morning' He said smiling.
'Morning yourself, did you sleep well?' She asked innocently.
'Best night ever, you?'
'Best night ever. I like having you naked in my bed.'
He laughed 'I can assure you the pleasure is all mine.'
'Trust me it's not' she said seductively 'Last night was beyond pleasuuuurable for me.'
'What did I do to deserve you?'
'I was just wondering the same thing.' They both grinned stupidly.
Ginny pulled herself up to him 'We've got a few hours until check out, what do you want to do?' She asked devilishly.
He pretended to think 'I'm not really sure I mean I suppose we could pick up from where we left off last night.'
'I'd like that' she said quietly and lowered herself to him.
The summer passed too quickly for Harry's liking after that, although they hadn't made any progress in the case despite the constant visual on Hogsmeade, he did spend as much time as possible with Ginny before she left. He helped her with her school shopping and worked with her on new Quidditch manoeuvres for the Gryffindor team she would be captaining.
Ron had become moody after Hermione had returned to her parents. He and Harry still went out and played Quidditch but it didn't do much to cheer Ron's mood. Harry's wasn't the company his best mate was suddenly craving.
They had only seen Hermione every now and again, Ron had visited her at her home a couple of times and even took her out. Now that the last night before 1st September was upon them Harry knew he was about to be as lonely as Ron was.
Harry and Ginny were lying in bed together holding each other closely when Ginny quietly broke the silence 'When are you moving out?'
'I think at the weekend.' Harry answered.
'You'll make sure to check in won't you? Mom will go mad if you don't.'
'Don't worry I will.' He said grinning 'If I don't make regular visits she'll accuse me of starving myself.'
Ginny nodded her head 'Yep and force feed you extra helpings of everything. Look after Ron too you're going to have to keep each other company.'
'I will.' He promised with a smile on his face.
'Don't get yourself killed.' He chuckled 'I'm serious Harry.'
'I know, don't worry about me I'll be fine. My biggest problem will be missing you.'
'Mine too.' She said sadly snuggling closer.
The next morning they said a private goodbye at the apparation point and Harry reluctantly left for work.
