The dragon was magnificent. She had black scales and bright green-blue markings on her head and wings. She straightens up and opened her massive maw. "Impressive isn't she?" I heard Ragna ask, but I was still too amazed to answer. Ragna hopped on her dragon and looked back at us.
"We'll get on." I looked at Thora realizing that she wouldn't be able to come with us. She caught my gaze and shrugged. "I'll meet you guys after you've dropped your eggs off." Kari and I climbed on and said bye. "Ok we'll see you in a bit." And with that we took off.
We stopped off at Kari's dorm first after that she decided to stay behind and watch her egg. Ragna then flew us to our dorm where I placed my egg on the hearth pedestal.
"So, have you thought of any names?" I stroked the warm egg gently before answering, "Yeah I have a couple of names so far." She cocked up an eyebrow and gestured to the egg. "Well what are they?" I looked back at her still stroking the warm egg and gave her a small smile. "Flurrywing or Snowstorm if it's a girl and Hailstone or Thundersnow if it's a boy."
She gave me an approving smile. "All of those sound great." At that moment we heard the door open. We turned around to see Thora come in with her Razorwhip egg. "Hey guys." We waved at her as she put her bag on her neat and organized desk. She then put her egg on the second hearth and started stroking her smooth egg. after a few minutes of silence Ragna decided to break it, "So, you guys going to stay here all day, or are we going to go tour around the surrounding isles?" both me and Thora agreed to go with Ragna.
"Will the eggs be ok with us gone?" Thora asked as she turned to look at the eggs. "They'll be fine. they probably won't hatch until later this week or into next week." Ragna replied waiting for us by the door. we both shrugged and headed out the door.
We ventured to all the surrounding islands and toured the school in more depth. by the time we had finished we realized that the sun was already setting. "Wow the day went by fast." I said watching the fast setting sun. "we should probably start heading to the Great Hall." Ragna replied turning Electra back towards the school.
We went into the stables and waited as Ragna scratched and fed Electra. after that we rushed up to the Great Hall where everyone was already eating. We sat down in three empty seats and started putting food on our plates. a few minutes later we saw Hiccup approach us with a worried expression on his face. "Where were you three?" We all gave him confused looks wondering why he looked so worried. "I was showing them some of the surrounding islands and we accidentally lost track of time." "I understand and I'm glad you're all getting along, but you need to be careful." Ragna looked at Hiccup in concern. "What's wrong Hiccup?" He looked at us anxiously before leaning closer to where only we could hear him. "A few students lately have been reporting that there have been enemy ships spotted near the school. We have been on high alert since." We gave each other anxious looks and then Hiccup straitened up and gave us a reassuring smile. "Try not to worry. We will handle it just enjoy the school year okay?" we nodded and he left the Great Hall. We continued eating in silence.
Later when we returned, we found that someone had broken into our dorm. "Thora go get Hiccup!" Ragna commanded and Thora ran to the common room. Ragna and I approached our dorm very quietly. we entered the dorm to see that it was in a complete mess. chairs and shelves were knocked over. the floor was covered in clothes, papers, and books. We scanned looking around for the culprit. We soon heard the sound of rustling underneath the bed covers of Thora's bed.
Ragna and I walked over towards the moving lump under the bed covers. I grabbed the covers and threw them across the room. I looked at what had caused our room's destruction. What I saw shocked me. It was a baby Woolly Howl. It had white and light blue fur-like scales around its head and wings. Its wings were covered in light and dark blue scales while the rest of its body was covered in variations of blue and white.
Without thinking I put out my hand and waited for the dragon to follow suit. A few moments later I felt the warm and rough scales against my outstretched hand. all the sudden I could feel this sensation fill my body as if sparks were going off inside me. I felt like all the mattered was this moment. and from then one there was a connection between us. we knew that we would both do whatever it took to protect each other and those whom we loved.
Suddenly we hear the sound of footsteps and then Hiccup and Thora are in the room panting. Hiccup observes the scene and smiles warmly. "Looks like we found the culprit. Congratulations to meeting your new friend, Vala!" I smiled softly still amazed at my new dragon partner. yes this was definitely going to be a very interesting year indeed.
