Oh no...! I-I didn't wanted to hit you...!
The man's head tilted over the camera, while frowning.
"I almost got that Stingray... he jumped down and ran away!"
Mirii's eyes squeezed a bit.
"... how did he managed to climb the tree in time...?"
What about your weapon?
"I had it pointed down at him... but he kicked my hand and threw my weapon somewhere!" The man opened his arms. "It could be stuck on the leaves... it could have fallen on the grass...!"
Keep your tentacles tight: I'm going to get it.
"Vira!" Mirii frowned. "I deny your act of generosity over this complete stranger."
Uhm?! What do you mean by 'stranger'?! He's a Squid just like us!
"... ask him to stand up and raise his arms." Her head rose.
F-for what?!
"VIRA!" A vein popped out from her forehead, as her left hand grasped tightly on the device. "Abandon this unexplainable fixation and follow my indications!"
... I don't really understand this...
"We must make sure that no infiltrators are meddling in our mission." Her eyes closed. "Thus, that Squid must be identified... just like anyone else we will encounter."
Alright, alright... sigh! Look... I'm asking you to stand up and raise your arms.
"Why?" The man frowned. "What's the deal with that?"
Just a security measure... nothing more. Let's make this
"You can forget that!" He stood up, clenching his fists. "I'm an Agent like you!"
I know, I know... uff! Are you happy now? He's mad at ME!
"... ask him to show his back..." Mirii took a look over her surroundings, seeing nothing of interest.
That's stretching too far! He will
"All that mentioning regarding the brainy and the brawny… hmpf!" Mirii grimaced. "An useless amount of words in a speech…"
… you really know how to push a nerve, eh?! Sgrunt!
"I gotta run, now!" The man turned behind. "Thanks for wasting my time!"
Mirii bended forward, as her head shook rapidly and almost reached the screen.
Hey! What's that yellow thing you have inside
"Eh?!" The man turned his shoulders to his left.
"He's an impostor!" She frowned a lot.
You are right! He was supposed to have magenta ink, not yellow!
His irises shrunk.
Hands on the branch!
Part of Vira's weapon popped out from the bottom-middle of the screen. The man rose his hands, as he properly turned
I said hands on the branch!
The man growled, as he bended down and grabbed the branch with both his hands.
"If only that stupid witch told me about the ink..."
"Order him to explain such camouflaging technology!" Mirii lifted her posture.
Explain me how did you turned into an Inkling!
"... you are backed up by that Squid, eh?" He chuckled, while slowly shaking his head. "I have seen her hanging on the wall..."
Mirii's eyes squeezed slightly...
She is my ally indeed! So, what about it?!
"Nothing much…" His eyes closed. "We knew she would interfere in our plans in some way or another… although, she's not wearing that same type of suit as yours, nor she wields a weapon. It made us curious…"
Hey! Did you hear my order?! I said to explain me how did you turned into an Inkling!
"Eat your tentacles, Squid!" As he reopened his eyes, he frowned. "That's off limits information!"
His frown turned into a grimace.
"As if I even wanted to assume this shape… I look so terrible and childish!"
Oh, so?! Then return into your ugly self!
"I can't, you moron!" He bended forward, frowning even more. "That witch is controlling-AH!" His eyes expanded. "DARN IT!" He growled, grasping the branch tightly. "Darn you and everything you stand for! Get lost in your ink!"
Her weapon was shaking… as Mirii showed her teeth.
"Calm down, Vira…" She almost whispered. "Don't let anger conquer your mind."
S-stop insulting me…!
"No! Turf you!" His forefinger pointed over the camera. "You and that turfing midget!"
Several veins popped out from Mirii's forehead. She stared at the wall, letting out a growl.
E-enough…
"Why aren't you retreating back in your ink, you piece of ship?!" He gritted his teeth. "That's what you Squids are good for!"
AAAAH, YOU ASKED FOR IT!
Green ink projectiles flew out of her weapon's muzzle, as they landed on the Inkling and-
SPLAT!
A small Stingray flew away, leaving the leaves and branch covered in green ink. Loud breathings were heard…
Sgrunt…! If I didn't had my weapon, I would had punched him hard on his nose…!
"Vira, I told you to not let your feelings dominate your thoughts…" Mirii's eyes closed. "… now we lost the possibility to learn more about the Stingrays' plans."
Might as well! Have you heard how did he called you?!
Mirii's free hand curled into a fist.
"I refrain you from mentioning such despicable memory…" Her head rose.
Uff… alright…
"It doesn't matter if our enemy keeps on insulting… we have to arrest them and order them to communicate all the information they currently know, instead of splatting them for the incapability of tackling emotions." Mirii snorted, as she looked at the wall. "I will not accept any future failure on such regard... and now, resume your mission."
She turned into a Squid, diving inside her ink and proceeding over the wall.
"Keep looking around the grass… although, make sure that no Stingray is aiming their long-ranged weapons at you."
Roger…
The girl reached the top of the wall, as she glanced at it and noticing no difference from before.
"The device is definitively warmer than before… although, I'm sure the battery energy level is unaltered." Her head pointed at the screen. "I must be careful, though… before I know it, my usage will drain its energy in seconds."
Mirii, I have some news.
"Speak, Aga." Her thumb pressed on the screen.
Agents are claiming that fakers were encountered during their
"I have seen an impostor as well, Aga." Her head shook. "How they managed to create such powerful technology, is beyond my current knowledge… it's an essential information I must acquire in order to learn"
I have an interesting clue regarding it…
Mirii observed Vira carefully pushing the tall grass out of her way, as she twisted herself left and right… occasionally shooting some green ink towards the grass.
According to their claim, a Stingray woman was seen on the battle scene. She kept looking at each Agent, while her henchmen escorted her: the woman's eyes were flashing at each glance, as if she turned into a light post for a fraction of a second.
"… the impostor mentioned a woman as well." Her eyebrows lowered slightly. "He reported that she didn't told him about the non-changeable ink color behind his tank, as well as her prowess in controlling said trickeries."
… yes, it must be her the cause of this phenomenon! Those fakers are literally copies of existing Agents, except they still keep some elements… such as the goo in their tanks.
"Once Vira successfully controlled the area, we can start exploring the fields." Her arms folded.
… the Agents are reporting that the Stingrays are showing intentions of leaving the area!
"L-leave the area?!" Her irises shrunk, as her mouth flattened.
There aren't even messages regarding Hun…! Just some quick mentions about a green ink who was left on the ground.
"Curses!" Mirii jumped forward, as she turned into a Squid just before she would dive inside the green ink.
Two waves formed, as they were moving in the direction of the grass.
"Faster! Faster! Vira cannot hear my voice from here!"
Stella, give me a few more minutes and I will prepare lunch!
"Vira! VIRA!" Mirii's voice came from the waves. "Desist the exploration! We must proceed through the grass without further delays!"
The woman was surrounded by the tall grass: she turned behind, opening her mouth wide.
"What's with the rush?!" Her mouth flattened.
Mirii resumed her humanoid form, as she ran for some feet before penetrating through the grass and holding her feet once she met with her ally.
"I-I said…" She took two quick breaths. "We must proceed! No further delays!"
"Th-that's risky!" Sweat jumped out from Vira's head. "We can't"
Mirii growled, while frowning and walking in place.
"Drat, drat, drat, DRAT!" Her eyes squeezed, as her feet were stamping on the soft ground. "Hunley… Hunley might be outnumbered! HE MIGHT BE IN DANGER!"
"But you would get into one yourself!" The woman folded her arms, while frowning. "Would Hunley be happy to see you risking your tentacles like this?!"
"Do you think I'm spouting nonsense?!" Mirii frowned, reopening her colder eyes. "While you were exploring, I also gave a look around myself… and I saw no one else in the area!" Her left hand, holding the device, pointed at the woman. "Can you possibly guess what that could mean?!"
"… they are leaving the area…?" Vira looked around, keeping her mouth semi-open.
"Correct!" As her left arm retreated, Mirii looked over the device's screen. "That's why we need to proceed… at this point, any safe measure will bring a detriment over the success of this mission!"
Vira sighed, as her shoulders lowered…
"… as you wish."
