A/N: Hey y'all. Sorry I've been absent. While everyone else going mad from boredom, my workload gets to double. Anyways, this is for Lovetoread89 who gave me this idea. I apologize in advance cuz it's not as fluffy as I was hoping. But I do hope you all enjoy it nonetheless. Anyways, let me know what you think and enjoy

"I don't like this, Hiccup."

"You said before, Astrid."

Hiccup rolled his eyes. Astrid had been voicing her protests for the last three days. And now here they were heading to the top of the mountain atop their dragons. They weren't even flying since Hiccup had tied a snow sled to Toothless. Astrid knew Hiccup was carrying something on that sled, but it was covered with a blanket. Just seeing this was what convinced Astrid to follow Hiccup up the mountain. She couldn't have her boyfriend get himself killed now, could she?

"Hey, you might like what I have this time," Hiccup remarked. Astrid eyed the snow sled. She could see a few leather straps hanging out but she couldn't see much more than that.

"Something tells me I won't," she said flatly.

Astrid glanced at the snowy ground. It had been snowing for the past two days so it was deep, deep enough that the dragon's entire claw disappeared beneath the fluffy white mass. There was no way Hiccup didn't realize this and no way he didn't try to incorporate this into his plan. And Astrid didn't know if that made her feel better or worse. At least he'll land in something soft and fluffy. But he could now get even more reckless.

"And here we are!" Hiccup announced, throwing his arms up.

Astrid looked around. She hated this even more. This high up there were too many cliffs for Hiccup to throw himself off of.

She watched as Hiccup dismounted. Snow crunched under his shoe. But the moment he put his metal pegleg on the ground, he gave a cry of surprise as he sank in. Even Astrid had to giggle at that. Three years with that leg and he still forgot he couldn't just stand in snow.

"Laugh it up, Astrid," Hiccup sighed. He gripped Toothless for support as he lifted his pegleg out of the snow, high enough for him to take it out. He put his metal leg into his saddle pouch before pulling out a new one, one with a much wider foot.

"Really need to make an upgrade to the leg one of these days," he muttered as he walked over to the back of the sled. "And…ta-da!" Hiccup cheered, tearing the tarp off the sled. Astrid blinked a couple times, even exchanging glances with Stormfly. She was looking at a giant metal…thing.

"I don't know what that is but I hate it already," she commented. "What even is that?" Hiccup picked up the metal thing. This reminded her of those canisters of zippleback gas Hiccup had begun messing around with. Except this one was larger.

MUCH LARGER.

"Presenting: The Zipple-Booster!" Hiccup said proudly.

"Wait," Astrid said. "Zipple as in zippleback? As in exploding gas zippleback?"

"Exactly!" Hiccup said eagerly. Astrid felt her face sag. It was bad enough her boyfriend would throw himself off cliffs. Now he was blowing himself up.

Astrid took a deep breath. Maybe she was being too harsh on him. His wingsuit had proven useful. And she once doubted him on dragons. Then again, that was back when she doubted him in general.

"Alright, so what is it?" Astrid asked.

This was the part where Hiccup nerds out over his newest invention before it all goes wrong.

"Well, I was thinking, we've seen the way zipple gas explosions shove everything back," Hiccup said. "Well, I was wondering if we could somehow take advantage of that, make it throw us."

"You mean you want to blow yourself up," Astrid translated.

"I wouldn't put it that way," Hiccup said, unloading the sled and putting the stuff into the snow. "If I can control the explosion, I might be able to use it to launch me." He pulled up a canister and strapped the leather belts around his shoulders. He reached back and pulled out the end of a rope.

"Zipple-booster test one!" Hiccup announced proudly. He proceeded to yank on the chord and…

Nothing…

Hiccup tugged on the rope again. This time something happened, just not what they were all expecting. A small stream of green gas leaking with a loud deflating whine. Hiccup gave a nervous laugh while Astrid rolled her eyes.

Thank the gods the twins weren't here otherwise there would be no end to their flatulence jokes.

"Alright, that was just a test," Hiccup said. "I was using fire and heat to fill it with gas." Hiccup undid the straps and let the tank hit the snow. He then went over and picked up a new tank before walking back to his spot.

"Zipple-booster test two!" Hiccup declared proudly. He pulled the rope again.

This time a jet of flame shot from the end of the tank…and that was it. And after a few seconds it died.

"Man, I wish all your inventions could be like this," Astrid remarked. She didn't mean to put Hiccup down but it was true. When a wing suit fails it meant a plunge to the ground. At least failure with this was harmless.

Hiccup just sighed, getting up and letting the tank fall into the snow.

"Uh…Hiccup…" Astrid remarked. "You're foot's on fire."

Hiccup looked down, letting out a startled yelp. His wooden prosthetic foot was indeed on fire. He jumped around, trying t shove his foot into the snow, but the snow-foot wouldn't let that happen. Astrid swooped down, scooping up snow in both hands and clamping them around the flaming foot, smothering the flame.

"Whew, thanks, Astrid," Hiccup said. Hiccup held up a finger as if to say 'one moment'. He went over to the sled and picked up another container.

When Astrid first got here, she was terrified, afraid what Hiccup's invention could curtail. But after seeing two fails, she was feeling comforted.

"Alright, third time's the charm," Hiccup said confidently. Astrid stepped back, watching as he slung the third canister onto his back.

Astrid expected another failure. Another sound of flatulence followed by the green gas and nothing more. So she was caught off guard when Hiccup was suddenly launched toward her, a fireball behind him carrying him like he was a toy.

She barely let out a startled gasp before Hiccup landed on top of her.

Astrid blinked a few times, not only from the snow but from seeing stars. And it seemed like Hiccup was doing the same. Astrid was a bit more used to taking this and recovered faster. By the time Hiccup recovered, he saw Astrid giving him an unappreciative glare.

It took a few minutes for them to untangle. Once they did, Astrid was kinda hoping that was Hiccup's last cannister. But low and behold, he headed to the sled to get one more.

"It doesn't have to work on the first day, Hiccup," Astrid said. "We can come up tomorrow and try again."

"Wait, let's not count our dragons before they hatch," Hiccup said. "And don't worry. I know what I did wrong. You don't have to worry about getting hurt."

Astrid rolled her eyes. Yeah, getting tackled was annoying. But she was more worried about Hiccup.

This time Hiccup lay on the sled belly down after putting the new tank on. "Zipple-booster test four!" Hiccup cheered, pulling the string.

Astrid covered her face as both canisters let out a stream a fire. It sounded like a dragon's roar as dirt and snow was flung back. Toothless and Stormfly wrapped their wings around Astrid to protect her as the sound subsided. She looked up to see a swathe of melted snow, a fireball flying off in the distance. The first thing she felt was panic, the thought of Hiccup turning into Viking-Flambe crossing her mind. But the panic subsided when she heard Hiccup cheering, "It works!" as he flew off. But panic soon returned when she realized Hiccup was dead if he hit anything.

"Stormfly!" Astrid called. Astrid's Nadder obeyed, forcing her snout through Astrid's legs and forcing the rider onto her nape. Stormfly took off while Astrid inched back onto the saddle.

Once Astrid was gone, Toothless was left rolling his eyes and grumbling in annoyance, part annoyed that Hiccup was putting his own life in danger over a crazy new invention, and part annoyed he was once again the slowest. Hiccup had his booster thing and Astrid had Stormfly. Toothless could only run. And that's what he did, running to catch up with the three of them.

-.-

Astrid was hot on Hiccup's flaming tail, her eyes darting around the landscape for anything he could crash into. Stormfly was using her magnesium flames to incinerate trees but Astrid was more worried about rocks or worse...

"CLIFF!" Astrid yelled. Ok, it wasn't a cliff per se. It was more like a gorge or ravine. But Astrid was too panicked to see the ground on the other side. She only saw a a sheer drop that Hiccup would plummet down. Stormfly dove for Hiccup but there was no way to reach him in time. Suddenly, there was a loud crack as the sled hit a boulder in the snow, a face of the rock being both smooth enough and perfectly angled that it served as the perfect ramp. Hiccup hit that boulder and was sent skyward, flying across the chasm. There was a cloud of snow from where Hiccup landed, but that cursed booster of his was still going. Did he not want to turn it off or did he forget to add that function?

Stormfly finally managed to catch up to Hiccup, pulling up along side him.

"See!" Hiccup said excitedly. "Told you it'd work!"

"Great," Astrid yelled back unenthusiastically. "So what's your plan for stopping that thing?"

"Well, I haven't really worked out all the kinks yet," Hiccup stuttered nervously.

"YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW?!"

Suddenly, Stormfly let out a squawk. Astrid looked up, her heart sinking.

"HILL!" she yelled. Astrid reached down to grab Hiccup but Stormfly had already reacted, a powerful flap of her wings decelerating them and sending Hiccup out of reach. She watched as he slammed headfirst into the hill, a cloud of snow shooting out from where he hit. Stormfly swooped down. Astrid didn't even wait for her dragon's claws to touch the snow. She leapt off, running to the hole in the snow. She glanced behind her, now full on panicking. Hiccup was so deep in the snow even his feet weren't visible. Too long in there and he'll suffocate.

Astrid looked behind her. Stormfly had her back and Toothless was finally catching up.

The dragons couldn't help anyways. If they use the fire to melt the snow they might melt Hiccup or worse.

"Hang on, Hiccup!" she cried out, diving in headfirst. Her entire world was plunged into darkness as her entire upper body was engulfed by cold snow. She hands fumbled in the darkness, finally gripping something metal. It had to be his pegleg. She fumbled in the dark, grabbing something leather. It had to be his other foot.

All that was left was to get out.

But how?! She was stuck in the snow as well. Her legs flailed, not sure what to do now. But she felt a pair of jaws bite down on her legs, one jaw for each leg. It had to be their dragons. She gripped the legs in front of her as tightly as possible as the jaws pulled. Light flooded her vision once more, letting her see that she did indeed grab Hiccup's legs.

The moment they were both free, Astrid scrambled to Hiccup's side. Panic gripped her chest, already imagining herself weeping over his corpse. She felt relieved when she saw his chest rising and falling. He was at least alive and breathing. She wanted to just hug him in relief. But she held back, afraid that he had injured himself. Was he hurt? Was he unconscious? Did he hit his head? Break his bones? Maybe he had frostbite. Maybe…

"Woo…hehe…WOOHOO!"

Astrid practically leapt back when she heard this exit Hiccup's mouth. He had the biggest and perhaps the dopiest grin she had ever seen on his mouth, still whooping in excitement. And suddenly her desire to hug him in relief was replaced by a desire to strangle him in anger.

"See, I told you it would work!" he said, still laughing. Astrid didn't punch him…yet…but her hands did find themselves raising up, her fingers tightening like she wanted to wring his neck.

-.-

Fuming didn't really describe Astrid's mood. She wasn't fuming. But she was angry. Once again Hiccup nearly kills himself with his invention. And the moment his life is saved he is more focused on the excitement of seeing his invention work, somehow forgetting that he nearly died mere moments ago.

The two were walking home, the sled packed with what was left of Hiccup's tests.

"Oh, Astrid, wait," Hiccup said. Astrid groaned. She could already imagine Hiccup suddenly coming up with some new idea that he wanted to test

"Hiccup…please…" Astrid sighed.

"No wait, you'll like this," Hiccup insisted, stopping Toothless. Seeing those two stop, Astrid didn't really have a choice but to stop Stormfly. Astrid looked around, curious what Hiccup could possibly want here. Was there a cliff for him to leap off of? Oh, maybe there was a pit of spikes he wanted to jump over.

But the only thing she could see was a large frozen lake. She watched Hiccup walk over to the back of Toothless, taking a few things out of the pack and tossing them in the snow. Astrid watched as Hiccup detached his pegleg and put on a new one, one with an axe head on the bottom. He then proceeded to put on a shoe with an axe head on his other foot.

"Here," Hiccup said, sliding the other pair to Astrid. Astrid looked as the shoes suspiciously, expecting them to explode or something. Finally, she attached them to the bottom of her boots.

"Alright, now what?" she asked. She watched Hiccup slowly waddle his way to the frozen lake. "Hiccup, what are you doing?" Hiccup stepped onto the ice, somehow managing to stay upright. With a simple step, he started sliding across the ice, somehow not slipping and falling like he normally would. This was perhaps the most graceful she had ever seen him.

"Come here!" Hiccup beckoned.

"You mean step on a sheet of ice with axes tied to my feet..." Astrid summarized.

"Yeah, it's safe," he insisted. "What could go wrong?"

"Should I start with us falling through the ice or should I end with us stepping on each other's feet with axe heads?"

"Just come on!"

Astrid looked at the ice with uncertainty. She's stepped on ice before, fought on it for training. How hard could this be?

She gingerly stepped on the ice with one foot. So far so good. She stepped with the other foot.

She flailed when she felt herself suddenly slide forward, the ice sliding down the length of the axe blade which meant she was sliding across the surface. She continued flailing when she realized she couldn't stop herself.

"Easy there," Hiccup laughed, taking a hold of her hand and bringing her to a stop.

"Hiccup, what exactly is this?" Astrid asked, looking down at the weapons now strapped to her feet.

"Still haven't come up with a name for it, but I was thinking this could be a new tradition. So…" Hiccup held out his hand. "Would m'lady have this dance?"

Astrid just laughed and shook her head.

"I can't even dance on solid ground. No way I'm going to be able to dance on this."

"Well, never too late to learn," Hiccup remarked with a shrug. Astrid stared at Hiccup for a moment. Dancing on axe heads on the surface of a frozen lake…sounds dangerous. But, so was everything else Hiccup does.

"I will," she said. "I'll have this dance."
