Mirii had her sight and interest onto her smartphone, as she was sitting on a comfy armchair. A small table covered in a white sheet was in front of her legs, coupled with a glass of orange-colored liquid and a piece of orange attached on its edge. Cubes of ice were floating on the beverage.
As the girl put her smartphone away, her hands glided onto the fresh drink and grabbed it almost in slow-mo: she brought the refreshment near her lips, as her skin adverted the cold welcome.
She took a delicate sip, letting the ice cubes caressing her lips.
"Hmm... still as delicious as usual." She brought the beverage out of her mouth, now focusing onto the large mirror sitting above a busy desk. "I couldn't ask for anything better in a time like this..."
Casually, her eyes landed onto the door to the left side. She didn't hesitate, raising her eyebrows... carrying her beverage back on her mouth, sipping it in a similar manner.
"Hunley... he looked tired, when we reached the studios." Her eyes closed, immerging herself into a wave of orange juice. "... was there really no way to prevent him from recording another episode of that show...?"
Her hands lowered the drink, while her mouth shaped a downturn.
"... was it wise to carry him to the hospital, at the end...?" Her heart felt heavier. "In our latest journey, we met new people... I had the occasion to learn more about the project... and Scarlet even promised to send me the Project Neo documents, once she had the time..."
The glass also felt heavier, as her hands laid it back on the table, retreating over her legs.
"At the same time… our health was under risk for almost all the duration of the mission." Her right hand escaped upon her right tentacle, placing on it tightly. "Especially after our medical examination… … w-was it right or wrong, at the end?!"
Her left hand grasped her leg, as a grip grew in her throat.
"Th-the answer…! I-I need it…!" Her eyes squeezed. "What could I possibly"
Knock, knock!
Mirii's ears rose, concentrating her sight back on the door.
"… odd." She stood up from her armchair, walking in the direction of the closed door. "Aside from selected Squids, no one else knows I'm here…"
Once she arrived in front of the sealed entrance, her hand captured the handle and pulled the door in her direction. Before she knew it, two arms were hugging her shoulders and a head leaned onto her right shoulder.
"Shying yourself inside his room, eh?"
"Greta?!" Mirii's eyes expanded and her limbs were completely immobile. "Wh-what are you doing?!"
"Hugging a best friend." The girl's head went back, properly aiming at Mirii. "Duh?"
"This is not a 'Duh' moment!" The hugged Inkling frowned. "You haven't hugged me ever since we first me!"
"Aaaah, you still remember it?!" Greta smiled. "Those were the times…!"
"You…" Her eyes squeezed slightly. "… you are up to something, aren't you…?"
"Up to some time-sharing with my best friend!" Greta chuckled. "Today's work was really"
"No, NO!" Mirii shook herself, before slipping herself down from Greta's hands and jumping backwards. "I don't want to spend my time in such useless activity!" She pointed her forefinger at her face. "Where is Hunley?!"
Greta kept her mouth open.
"… not to mention…" Mirii's head rose. "Have you found your smartphone?"
"… wow…" The called friend lowered her eyebrows, almost snorting. "Did you got yourself out of a darn freezer or"
"Answer me, instead of confabulating idiocy!" The shorter girl revealed her gritted teeth.
"HEY!" Greta scowled too. "Knock it off with the bossing!" She opened her arms wide. "Who do you think you are with that tone?!"
"I'm someone who wouldn't answer to a friend in such despicable way…" Mirii lowered her arm, simply pointing her friend with the tip of her shoulder. "… Hunley told me everything about the behavior you had in his regards."
She grimaced.
"You already caused enough trouble for today… you are the least"
"I already apologized to him." Greta decreased her frown.
Mirii's mouth sealed. The taller lady sighed, as she stepped inside the room and closed the door back.
"I admit it: I was a butt this morning." She nodded. "I could go on and throw mud at the bullship situation I had the displeasure to live through… but I do not. Not even if people would throw money at me."
As Greta took two steps forward, she shook her head.
"I thought about that thing I said to Hunry, after he walked away… I was afraid that I blasted him off way too much than I should had… in fact, I'm glad that we were able to speak up about that."
Her eyebrows went up.
"He felt a bit attacked… but he forgave me. He was even happy that he noticed my good intentions." Her eyes closed for a moment. "Keep in mind, we talked about this when we finished today's recording…"
"Already?" Mirii moved back towards her own armchair.
"Yeah, today's episode is a shorty one." Greta shrugged. "It's due to some important, final match who was announced at the last second…"
"Th-they haven't sent me any message regarding it!" The girl snorted, sitting on her armchair. "Those idiots… they will hear me about this."
"After that, Hunry and Barsy decided to take a walk around the studios and talk about their gym activities..." Greta had her eyes onto another armchair, who was positioned next to Mirii's.
She stepped in its way, noticing a half-filled glass on the table.
"Ever since Bars started his physical activities, he acts friendlier towards the others than before..." Mirii's back sunk nicely on the backrest. "... is he even the same Bars we met in the past?"
"Ha ha!" Greta landed on the armchair, with her bottom, as her hands relaxed each on their respective arm. "I bet his videogames that he still is!" She grinned slightly. "He's just more passionate about the gym than ever...!"
"... hmpf." Mirii took her glass. "Have you found your smartphone?" She began drinking gently.
"Yes, yes..." Greta's folded arms went onto her legs. "It was inside our own car for all this time."
She smiled, looking at the floor.
"Barsy had the idea to check in there, actually!" She giggled. "He might be stupid at times... but he"
"Send the photos, then." Mirii brought her almost empty glass on the table, retrieving her device immediately after. "I will give them a proper examination and decide what to do with them."
Greta scowled slightly.
"... you can dream about them."
"What did you said?!" Mirii turned her head in her direction. "Greta"
"I said that you can dream about them." Greta also turned her head towards her friend. "Got a problem with that?"
A vein popped out from the littler girl's forehead.
"Why are you acting like an enemy...?" Mirii grasped her own smartphone...
"Because you don't even seem to care a thing about us? Your best friends?!" Greta increased her frown. "Despite the fact that Hunry himself forgave me, you still act like the coldest of all ice queens in front of me!"
"Drop that ridiculous title at once!" Mirii frowned at her friend.
"I would rather drop my own smartphone in the ocean!" Greta brought her right leg on her left knee. "And for that matter, I would also drop that perfection mask you keep on wearing each day!"
"Don't you dare drifting our convo out of its funk, you" Suddenly, Mirii gasped loudly as she dropped her smartphone.
Greta's eyes almost popped out, bending her back towards her friend.
"Nnnnnnnngggghh...!" Mirii stomped the floor. "... curses!"
"Curses my butt!" Greta smiled widely. "That was a badbass phrase, Mirii! Absolutely delicious for the ears!"
"No, NO!" Mirii shook her head violently. "It-it's all rubbish, RUBBISH I SAY!"
"Who would had thought that you had this much creativity in your speeches?!" Greta stood up. "Pure surprise right there, Miss Perfection."
"I-I shouldn't have passed my time w-with you...!" Mirii curled onto herself a bit. "I-I kept on hearing y-your ridiculous dialogue, s-so much th-that..." Sweat covered her face.
"Ooooh, why don't you talk like this more often?!" Greta clasped her hands, as her eyes sparkled. "It makes you a liver Squid to hang out with!"
"Th-that is..." Mirii swallowed silently.
"Oh please, do!" Greta managed to reach Mirii's shoulders with both her hands. "Don't abandon the good turf you just inked up...!" She nodded twice. "Please! Get fresher, Mirii!"
The begged girl stared back for some seconds... before smiling as well.
"I could try..." Her eyes closed for a moment. "... but don't always bet on me, pulling out the fresh vegetables out of the harvest."
Greta couldn't keep her mouth from gasping: she hugged her friend tightly.
"The kindest poem I have ever heard...! Your words are music for the inspiration!"
"Eh eh..." Mirii's free hand patted Greta's back. "... don't keep the tap open, now. Smell fresher, ok?"
"Aaaaah, that's a 10 out of 10 in all aspects!" As Greta brought her head back, she showed her smile over her friend. "This is definitively a Mirii I want to see dominate!" She grinned too. "A Mirii who would drive a truck and flatten up Miss TooPerfection out of her butt!"
"Give me a good music track, instead." Mirii chuckled. "I will lyric her out of existence with some quick wits and bodacious jazz."
...
A tear fell from Greta's right eye.
"I... I can't believe the stuff I'm about to spout... bu-but that was absolute perfection." She sniffed loudly. "No way a fresh Squid can top that... th-there is a specific law who denies anyone from attempting to top it!"
Greta lifted her posture, as her arms left Mirii's shoulders and her hands clasped.
"Mirii... have you thought of wearing a backwards cap and some funkbass jacket? That would bring justice upon the cold machine era..."
A stream of tears fell from Greta's shut eyes.
"IT WOULD END THE ICE AGE!" She shook her right fist up in the air.
"Perhaps we could snoop around the goodies around the mall, once Mr. Time grants us one of his gifts..." Mirii sunk back on the backrest. "... but I'm hearing some sad sobs from my little, electronic companion: it grew thin in its album, recently... it is craving for some yummy pictures to fill its belly up."
"Ooooh, poor little fella!" Greta brought her own smartphone out of her own clothing, as she began tapping rapidly on it. "Hang in there! Gretuccia is baking up some yummies!"
Mirii chuckled.
"... hands down... the stupidest statements I spoke in my life..."
