I know these chapters are really boring, but they need to be done. I'm trying to make them as interesting as possible for you. Going a wee bit off game as well. Sorry about the copied dialogue from the scenes though.

Also, I forgot to reply to previous reviews so here they are.

Pandoralily: I'm trying to update more regularly, I want to finish the story, probably as much as you do XD I hope youre enjoying the chapters and thankyou for your review.

Evanglia123: Thank you so much. I wish my writing was better, but I'll take your word for it. Also, a whole litter? Can I name one Jeffrey? Because no-one is scared of a Jeffrey.

Chapter 94 – Judge, jury and executioner.

'Elthina!' Sebastian cried out in pain. Makatza realised that the likely hood of the building being empty was slim. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hand as it hit her. Sebastian was almost in tears as he lamented in grief. Anders simply stood there, shoulders slumped. Expecting the death blow at any time. Fenris held Makatza close and looked at Garrett who was completely stunned.

'Why? Why would you do such a thing?' Orsino asked Anders in bewilderment. His face was torn with sorrow and his voice weak and unsure. Makatza straightened up, moving over to comfort Sebastian, who until the Chantry was destroyed, had been silent. Fenris looked at the situation as he let his lover go, it was tense and there would be bloodshed. The crowd would demand it. Makatza took Sebastian into a hug and he buried his head in her hair as he wept.

'I removed the chance of compromise, because there is no compromise,' Anders explained calmly. Makatza risked a look at Meredith. What she saw echoed her worst fear. There was a glint in her eye and she wore a strange, calm expression. When she spoke, Makatza felt her stomach turn.

'The Grand Cleric has been slain by magic, the Chantry destroyed,' she said with no feeling. She turned to her Templars, half facing the Viscountess and her family. She ignored Orsino completely as she next began to talk. 'As Knight-Commander of Kirkwall, I hereby invoke the right of Annulment. Every Mage in the circle is to be executed – Immediately.' She says, pounding her hand in her fist. Makatza shook her head, this had gone too far.

'No!' She said pulling away from Sebastian. 'Meredith, revoke the order, now! The circle had nothing to do with this. You cannot condemn a hundred innocents for the act of one madman!' She protested. Orsino looked at her gratefully and smiled weakly, she had said what he was thinking. 'The one responsible is here. You have your perpetrator.'

'Orsino has been harbouring blood mages, I simply wanted to search the tower, from top to bottom. And he denied it to me, now look what has happened! I will destroy the source, once and for all.' She replies, a familiar madness echoed in her words.

'The Warden Queen of Ferelden believes that every situation can be resolved if you simply try hard enough. She fought her way through the tower in Ferelden, when it was infested with demons and such and she returned normality. Even then they did not use the right of Annulment. You cannot do this, simply based on some half arsed opinion that there ''might'' be a damned blood mage hiding in the building!' Makatza retorted, getting angry.

'Champion!' Orsino cried. 'You cannot let her do this, you must help stop this madness!' He pleads, worried for his charges lives. Garrett sighs and looks at Makatza. It was to be war it seemed, no matter what she did.

'Garrett, you can't let this happen, it's wrong,' Makatza mumbled to him, turning to face him.

'I demand that you stand with us! Even you must see that this can't be tolerated,' Meredith commands, ignoring Makatza completely. She wasn't a threat in Meredith's eyes.

Aveline and the other companions made their way through the crowd, Makatza tilted her head. Sebastian was still a mess, on his knees, praying for the lives that were lost. Fenris simply stood, calm and collected. She couldn't read what was happening in his head.

'This is madness!' Aveline said rubbing her eyes. 'We must help the Knight-Commander!'

'Aveline!' Makatza protested, 'you cannot be serious!' She spoke over Merrill who was saying that there were innocents who didn't deserve to be slaughtered. She didn't let any of the other companions speak as she turned to look at her brother who looked like he was going to be sick. He hated confrontation and this was his worst nightmare. Anders who had been quiet for a few moments finally spoke up.

'It can't be stopped now. You have to choose,' he says simply.

'Do not be such an arrogant fool. Of course it can be stopped!' Makatza snaps. 'Just arrest Anders, Meredith revoke the Annulment and we'll talk about this! You can search the tower to your satisfaction!' She said in panic. The last thing she wants is all out war.

'I don't want to get involved in this,' Garrett says in an attempt to refuse all coercion.

'You are already involved!' Meredith said with venom. 'You are the Champion of Kirkwall. Do your duty, or fall with the other apostates!'

'Garrett!' Makatza pleaded. They were fighting over him like a piece of meat. She ran over to him and thought desperately. 'Go, go with Meredith. Find Carver. Try to stop them from killing the mages. I'll go with Orsino and try to stop them from killing Templars, and hopefully protect them.'

'You can't be serious-' he began.

'We need to find Carver, you know he'll side with the Templars. Find him, keep him safe and I'll do the same with the Mages, I'll try to diffuse the situation on this side. Try to knock Meredith out or something!' She whispered furiously.

'You'll die! It's going to be war!' Garrett says simply.

'I'll have protection,' she prayed, hoping that Fenris would stay by her even though she's chosen to defend the mages. She didn't risk looking at him and simply prayed that this wouldn't be the choice that would finally drive them apart.

'Katza-' Garrett began but she shook her head as Knight-Commander Meredith began to walk away to summon her Templars.

'Go, now!' Makatza said pushing him. He sighed but nodded taking Aveline and Isabela, Varric also. They were left with Merrill, Anders and Sebastian. Anders, there was a problem. She finally turned her body to face Fenris. She felt the lump in her throat rise as she looked at him, her lip trembling as she saw that he wore his expressionless stance. 'Fenris, please. You have to help me-' He cut her off by striding towards her and pulling her close, kissing her deeply. She buckled into his arms and felt her tears run down her cheeks. He was either kissing her goodbye, or telling her that he'll stay. She couldn't figure him out. The crowd had begun to disperse with mutterings and panic. Only a few moments passed before he pulled away.

'Forever and always,' he murmured into her ear. She released a small sob of release before hugging him tightly and letting him go. She had a situation to sort out.

'Merrill, go with Orsino, you too Sebastian,' Makatza said wiping her eyes. Merrill nodded and ran over to the First Enchanter.

'Come, we must warn the circle,' the young elf said to him as she pulled his arm. Makatza looked at Sebastian, but he was shaking his head looking at Anders.

'No! I will not! Not while he still lives!' He says angrily. 'He killed innocent people! Elthina, she didn't deserve to die!' He wailed, tears running down his cheeks. He felt the same amount of grief as he did when his family were murdered. His fists shook as he clenched them.

'Sebastian, I will sort this-'

'If he doesn't pay for his actions, so help me, I'll return to Starkhaven and bring her armies down around Kirkwall and hunt him down until I kill him myself.' He said simply and furiously.

'Don't you dare threaten my city!' Makatza said bringing her hand around to slap him hard across the face. 'So you would kill innocents just to find one man?! You're as bad as he should you do so! Now, follow Orsino and Merrill and help me and I'll sort this out!' Makatza said simply wringing her hand as it stung. He looked at her shocked but opened his mouth to speak.

'Katza, I-'

'Trust me, Seb. I will do the right thing. I just ask you to trust me. I'm going to need you, I need your help,' she says quietly. He looks at her with more study before nodding and taking his leave, making his way to where Orsino and Merrill were waiting to go to the Gallows impatiently. As they disappeared Makatza drew a deep breath and exhaled heavily. She turned to where Anders had sat down and cradled his head. She walked over to him, Fenris on her heels. He had never trusted Anders and now he had no exception to do so.

'I know what you're going to have to do. I deserve it totally and I don't expect anything less. I'm a monster and I've killed innocent people,' Anders said simply.

'Look at me if you're going to speak to me,' Makatza said coldly. 'Stand like a man and speak to me directly.' He pulled himself to his feet and turned to look at her. His face withdrawn and sickly looking. The stress had taken it's toll.

'There could be no com-'

'I don't want to hear it. Whatever the reason. Whatever you're saying to validate this monstrous act to yourself. You've only got yourself to blame, and now thousands will die in a war you've started with your selfishness.' Makatza said simply. 'The pathetic part, is that you didn't even ask me about anything. This city was getting better. The Mages were getting better treatment. And just like that, you threw it all away. You're a fool. A damned fool and you don't deserve this mercy. You deserve to live for many many years, reaping the death and destruction that you've sown. Healing the parents of the children you've murdered. Holding the child, whose father or mother your decision killed. You deserve to be soaked in their blood, hear their screams and bathe in their sorrow.'

'I'm sorry-'

'No you're not. Otherwise you wouldn't have done it. Don't give me the pathetic social graces. Don't continue to lie to me Anders. You've already broken my trust, betrayed me. I don't want to hear it. I grant you this mercy as someone who once was your friend. But I hope the Maker condemns your soul to the fade. Wandering endlessly and hearing all the pain that you've caused,' she said looking him straight in the eye. She held out her hand and Fenris paused for a moment before handing her a dagger. He would rather slay the demon himself, but he knew that Makatza wouldn't ever forgive him if he did.

'I am sorry,' he murmurs. Makatza moves closer to him and without ceremony slides the dagger deep into his chest with slow force. She felt the fabric of his robes tear before she felt the soft, split of his skin. The warmth of his blood flowed over her fingers as she pushed the blade deeper. She encountered resistance of thicker tissue, but she simply pushed harder, the rip audible. Her fingers stuck to the pommel and she took his weight as he gasped in pain. The air leaving his lungs in a harsh gurgle as the sharp metal pierced his lung. She felt his heart slow and she made no attempt to make the death painless, she could if she wished. His head slumped on her shoulder.

'You will not be a martyr. You are feeling a fraction of the pain. You will wander ceaselessly for eternity. This I promise you. Death will not be a release. It'll be the prison of torment you deserve,' she whispers into his ear as she lets his body fall from imbalance. He dropped heavily to the cobbles, his blood seeping into his clothing. With a shuddering sigh, he closed his eyes. Makatza dropped the dagger and looked away from him. Despite what she said, he was a friend. Her clothing felt sticky from his blood and she glanced down, the silver of her dress a sickly red, stained.

'Come, my Katza,' Fenris says picking up his dagger and simply slipping it into his belt. 'We need to get to the Gallows. Hawke is going to need all the help he can get,' he murmurs. The last place he wants to take her is into the heart of the danger. But, he knew that she would go with or without him. This way it was easier. He gently takes her blood soaked hand and pulls her from the corpse that was once, at a time, a friend.

Well, getting there. One bit at a time. These chapters are a little boring I'm afraid. Please drop a review.
