Being called a disgrace by a freed Stain, Dabi is motived to kill Endeavour to improve him wrong. He attacks his childhood home, with his siblings and recently released mother inside. When Endeavour orders the others to leave while he stays behind, Dabi allows them to run, slightly taken aback that his father is willing to do this. During the fight, the house crumbles down in a storm of red and blue fire, everything from family photos to Dabi's own altar/grave.
After a fierce battle, Dabi has his father collapsed on the floor. Smoke comes from his scars as he's used too much of his Quirk, but he doesn't care. He dryly asks his father where his "masterpiece" is now. Charging up a final attack to kill his battered father, Shoto suddenly leaps from the rubble. In shock, Dabi spins around and must make a split-second choice - Either shoot at Shoto or purposefully miss. With a brief flashback to five-year-old Shoto, Dabi makes himself miss.
Using the opening, Shoto seals Dabi in a wall of ice. Still wanting to kill Endeavour, Dabi blasts at his ice prison at full-force. However, the ice isn't melting fast enough, leaving Dabi's hands to get dangerously hot. Realising what he's doing, Shoto yells at him to stop hurting himself. Then, Dabi's left-hand breaks free, but it's too late, reduced to a scorched stump.
On the edge of fainting, Dabi has a brief conversation with Shoto and Endeavour: Questioning how Shoto can save their father after all he's done, admitting how he's aware he himself is too far for redemption and makes Endeavour promise that if he's going to prison, he also has to admit his abuse crimes to the police. With a sigh, Endeavour admits they'll no longer be family if that's Dabi's wish, calling him by his chosen name, 'Dabi', not 'Toya'.
As Dabi is restrained and taken to an ambulance; Natsuo angrily shouts, Fuyumi quietly questions and Rei mournfully cries. When Rei claims this is her fault, Dabi sarcastically says not to give herself too much credit as she was locked up for half his life - It was his choice to not live with the "bastard" and become a villain. Shoto and Endeavour watch from a distance and after a knowing look, the Pro-Hero slowly approaches policemen, claiming he has another crime to report.
Dabi would have a final cameo as a witness at Endeavour's trial via video chat at Tartarus prison. After the screen blacks out, Dabi faintly chuckles to himself. But it soon ends as he glances around his harsh-lit and barren cell, his smirk edging down into a conflicted frown. Was it all worth it?
