"So where are we headed?" Hermione inquired when she walked into the Floo room to see Sirius and James already waiting for her. Sirius in his standard black jeans and leather jacket, while James had simply thrown on a waistcoat over his shirt.

"We typically just go to the Leaky if that's alright," James responded as he took a handful of Floo powder. "Is there someplace else you would rather go?"

Hermione thought about it for a moment, the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks were typically where she and the rest of the DA would end up, but she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself. She had hoped to stay away from any place that was too populated where she could have potentially disastrous interactions, but she honestly didn't know where any other pubs were. "I was hoping someplace a little less crowded, but I don't know of any other pubs beside the main ones."

Sirius looked at James, "How about The Selkie's Sinn? We haven't been there in a while, and it's in the middle of nowhere Derbyshire. Can't really get any less crowded than that."

"Why not?" James shrugged. "We'll have to apparate though. I don't think they have a Floo connection."

A short walk to the edge of the wards of the Potter land and the three magicals were able to depart. After arriving at the pub and ordering drinks, they found a booth in the corner for a bit of privacy. A bit of unimportant small talk later, Sirius decided they needed to make the night a bit more interesting.

"Alright then, let's see just how much of a swot you really are. Truth or Drink. Either answer the question or take a drink ...your choice. I'll go first. When is the first time you lost house points and why?" Sirius declared.

"Come on Pads, we haven't played this since sixth year. Remember the last time? Nobody wants to experience that hangover again." James protested.

"I told you, I'm not much of a drinker," Hermione laughed.

"Then it'll be easy for you. Just tell us the truth and you won't have to drink," the roguish wizard said while giving the witch a cheeky wink.

Hermione thought about it for a moment. "Fine."

James, still not thinking it was the best idea, though secretly wanted her to play, tried to talk her out of it. "Hermione you really don't have to."

"No, no. It's fine. This could be fun. I don't remember the last time I acted my age and just let loose a little. Sometimes I forget I'm only 19." Hermione sighed, getting a bit wistful at the thought that she and her friends didn't go out and party like normal young adults, instead of when they drank it was normally to forget for a while.

"See James? It's going to be fun." Sirius smirked. "So the first time you lost house points. Go."

"You already know this Padfoot, It was the second week of first year and McGonagall caught us, Remus and Peter trying to find the kitchens." James smiled at the memory. It was the first time he felt as if he, Remus, Sirius, and Peter were really best friends.

"That's it?" Hermione stared in amazement. From all the stories she heard she thought it would be something a bit more dramatic than that.

"What? We were 11. We hadn't fine-tuned our pranking skills yet." James defended. "What did you get detention for? Falling asleep in the library?"

"I wish! I technically shouldn't have lost points but I was covering for Harry and Ron. One of our professors let a troll in as a distraction for something. I was in the bathroom instead of at the Halloween feast so I didn't know. Ron and Harry came to warn me but the troll found us first. I didn't want the two of them to get in trouble given the fact they had just saved my life so I told Professor McGonagall that I went looking for the troll since I had read about them, and Harry and Ron were just trying to stop me. I lost five points but gained two of the very best friends." It was Hermione's turn to smirk at the looks of incredulity on the two wizards' faces.

"You're not serious?" James asked.

Without thinking, Sirius automatically replied, "No I am." He was then hit on the back of the head by James, as per usual, for the tired joke.

"Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I am." She smiled at the memory. Despite being terrified at the time, she wouldn't change the outcome for the world.

"You really fought a troll at eleven and survived?"

"Well, Harry and Ron did most of the fighting but yes."

"How?"

"Harry jumped on his back and accidentally stuck his wand up the troll's nose. It distracted him enough for Ron to levitate his club and then drop it on his head. Knocked the troll out cold." Hermione stated matter-of-factly, not bothered by how ridiculous the story sounded to the other two.

"Definitely not how I expected this game to start," Sirius laughed. "But I guess given what you've already told us I shouldn't be too surprised. Alright, your turn. What would you like to know about the infamous Sirius Black, love?"

Hermione rolled her eyes at his overly flirtatious nature, still not quite used to it. "You do realize I already know quite a bit about you, right?"

"I doubt I shared any of the juicy details to a fifteen-year-old when you knew me."

"You'd be surprised what you revealed after a bottle or two of firewhiskey," Hermione shot back.

"I bet you don't know how I lost my virginity," Sirius declared, believing he would stump her with that one.

"At the beginning of your fifth year to a seventh year Slytherin on Slughorn's desk, and you weren't even drunk when you told us that."

"Why is that a topic that would ever come up with teenagers when I am in my thirties?" Sirius sounded shocked.

"Well to be fair you were trying to rile Professor Snape up. He was the potions professor at the time so he was using Slughorn's old desk. I believe after he found out that little tidbit of information he burned the desk and then vanished the ashes. There may or may not have also been a cleansing ritual of his classroom." Hermione chuckled at the memory of the look of horror on Severus Snape's face when he found out Sirius Black had sex on his desk.

"Wait...Professor Snape? You don't mean Snivellus?" Sirius said in disgust

Hermione's demeanor immediately changed. She would never like Severus Snape as a person but he was an integral part of defeating Voldemort, no matter how he lived he died a hero and for that deserved at least a modicum of respect. "I highly suggest you cease calling him whatever childish names you came up with in Hogwarts. I understand your feelings towards the man, trust me I have as much dislike for him as you do, maybe more, but he was ultimately an integral part of the Order and died to save our lives. For that, you will at least learn to tolerate him. Are we understood?"

"Integral part of the Order? Are you barmy?" Sirius started to raise his voice. "The snake is a Death Eater. Once a Death Eater always a Death Eater. You don't know him like I do."

The witch scoffed. "Are you truly trying to tell me that you know more than me about the man than I do? Me of all people?"

"He's been up to his eyes in the dark arts since he was sorted into Slytherin."

"Enough!" Hermione finally demanded. "I know your history with him. You and your friends were bullies, but he gave just as good as he got. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, if he had other options he wouldn't have turned to the dark arts? Hmm?"

"He did…" Sirius interrupted.

"I'm not finished. He was a half-blood Slytherin with a muggleborn best friend, both himself and she were targeted. He did what he had to do to protect himself, and hopefully her as well. You know as well as I do she was the only thing tethering him to the light. Maybe he did have other options but as a fifteen-year-old with nobody willing to help he took the only path he saw. He was a bastard, who let his anger and grief take over. I never liked the man, most of the time I knew him was spent with him terrorizing myself and my friends, but he ultimately made the right choices. So whatever feelings you have towards Snape you will keep to yourself. Do I make myself clear?" Hermione was breathing heavily and staring into Sirius's eyes with an intensity she hoped would convey how serious she was.

James, starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with the tension between the two and thinking maybe Sirius was right, interrupted, "Er...do you two need a moment alone?"

Both looked over to see James glancing between the two of them, having forgotten he was there.

Hermione blushed a little at her outburst, but not many topics got her riled like Severus Snape. There were too many conflicting emotions there. "Er...no we're good, but I meant what I said, James. I know your history with him is complicated, but trust me his life is even more so."

James held up his hands in surrender. "I can't stand the wizard, but honestly right now you scare me a little more so I'm just going to agree." He chuckled.

Hermione smirked at James's admission, he never looked more like Harry than he did in this moment. "Good." She then looked at Sirius waiting for him to respond.

He leaned back in his seat, muttered to himself, took a drink, but otherwise decided to drop the topic. "So is there anything you don't know?"

"Well…..I don't know where the other part of your little friend group is this evening. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about Remus. Why couldn't he join us on this little adventure?" Hermione wondered aloud to the two wizards.

Sirius's scowl deepened. "You really know exactly which topics to not bring up don't you little witch?"

"What?" Hermione was surprised. It had seemed the Marauders had been as close as her, Harry, and Ron. "Why should I not ask about Remus?"

James rubbed the back of his neck, unsure of how to respond exactly. "Remus has been a bit distant recently. Always making excuses for not hanging out with us, he's never home if we pop by. We don't know why, and Sirius is just being a bit of a drama queen about it."

Hermione snorted at James's description of Sirius, while the wizard in question responded loudly with "Hey!"

"Well you are," James defended himself, as he took a swig of his butterbeer.

"All I'm saying is he's been gone a lot recently, supposedly on Dumbledore's orders, but I swear I saw him with my brother while he was supposed to be on one of his 'missions'. It's a bit suspicious." Sirius pressed on.

"Come off it mate," the Potter heir tried to reason with him, "I told you it probably wasn't him. Tell him, Hermione. You're supposedly all-knowing."

Hermione glared at James. "First of all I am not all-knowing, I just happen to know a bit about Sirius and even you to an extent because this one here," she jerks her thumb at the dog animagus, "doesn't know how to shut up once he's gotten some liquor in him."

Sirius smirked. "That doesn't answer the question though love. Do you know what is going on with our fine furry friend?"

Hermione narrowed her eyes. In fact, she did know Remus's secret. She also knew this was the beginning of the downfall of their friendship, and why Sirius convinced James and Lily to use Peter instead of Remus as the Secret Keeper. "What I do know is," she paused and then turned to James, "You need to get home to your wife and fix whatever it is the two of you are arguing about. You are her husband and she deserves for you to be on her side no matter what."

"It's not like this is some insignificant argument," James protested. "She just doesn't understand family obligation."

"That is such bullshit and you know it," the curly-haired witch fired back. "She does understand family obligation, the only difference is she sees you as her family while you still view her as separate from the Potters."

"And if I don't?" James stubbornly argued.

"You and your parents are the ones who are begging me to save your family line, yet you're pushing your wife and future mother of your children away. If I did ever agree to mess with time, you are making my job much more difficult." He didn't respond so she pressed on. "Not to mention, I'm selfish enough to want my best friend back. He had a hard life and didn't even make it to his eighteenth birthday. If I do change anything I would like for Harry to be around to actually experience those changes.

James glared at the witch, knowing she was right but hating to admit that he may be in the wrong. Finally, he sighed. "Fine. I was always going to fix things with her you know?" James said petulantly. After a moment his face softened. "Harry died before he turned eighteen?"

Hermione sighed. "Harry had a hard life. After you and Lily died he was sent to live with Lily's sister and her family. They did not care for him. I don't know if they were ever physically abusive but I know there was emotional abuse and neglect there, even if he didn't like to talk about it. He lost almost everybody he ever loved, so when he found out he had to die in order to defeat Tom, he went willingly. I'm not telling you this to make you feel bad, but Harry deserves a loving home. I know you and Lily care for each other. Don't let your mother, or my arrival, or anything else eclipse that."

"I know you're right. We'll work it out. We were always going to. We both just needed time to clear our heads."

"That's fair, but clearing your head and avoiding going home by going out drinking with your best mate and some random witch from the future you don't know is never the answer," Hermione chuckled.

"Fine. I'm going now," James acquiesced. "Pads, make sure she gets home safely."

Sirius stared at Hermione and grinned wolfishly, "Don't worry. I'll take good care of her."

Hermione rolled her eyes while James slapped him on the back of his head. "I'll be fine James. Besides if he tries anything I think I can take him. I know all of his tricks anyway." Hermione winked.

With that James left the pub to apparate home.

"Well, now that we're alone," Sirius began to slide closer to Hermione and draped his arm across the back of the booth.

The witch looked at him, confused, then burst out laughing. "You're not seriously trying to put the moves on me are you?"

"I've already asked you to marry me, why wouldn't I try it on with you?" Sirius grinned roguishly.

Hermione continued to giggle as she downed the rest of her drink. "In your dreams Black, in your dreams."

Sirius then winked at her before finishing his own drink and waving to the bartender for another round. "Oh, you are, every night love."
