A/N: the first chapter of this fanfic went pretty well, so, why not make another chapter, telling us if the maple leaf in the nursery was really a sign from Starclan that something bad might be coming to the lake.
Chapter 2: Starclan's sign
"What would happen to WindClan if our kit really is the reincarnation of Mapleshade?" Flinchwhisker asked Amberwish, looking down at their kit. Maplekit was fast asleep, having the same red and white fur of Mapleshade.
"Ferndusk is going to the moonpool as we speak, we will get answers from Starclan soon enough. We just have to pray that the clans don't have to deal with another Mapleshade." Amberwish said.
Maplekit was twitching in her sleep, possibly meeting her other self, the Mapleshade from the Dark Forest.
"Who are you?" Maplekit squeaked.
"I'm you. You are the reincarnation of me. My name is Mapleshade, and your name is Maplekit, thanks to Starclan giving that maple leaf sign, so we would at least have the same name. I'm just confused why you are a Windclan cat. Because I was a Thunderclan cat, you would think I'd be reincarnated as a Thunderclan cat," Mapleshade said, stepping out of the shadows of the Dark Forest.
"What do you mean?" Maplekit asked.
"It means that I'm dead and you are alive, so you are the current version of me. Now, you may hear stories from the elders about the bad and scary Mapleshade. Don't think that's you, you can just be yourself. Don't think that just because you are the reincarnation of me that you have to be just like me, got it?" Mapleshade said.
There were a few moments of silence before Maplekit finally spoke up. "Okay, I will try my best to be myself," Maplekit said.
Mapleshade smiled, "But, you have to keep a promise for me. Always put your clan first, okay?" Mapleshade said.
Maplekit nodded, and got knocked out of her sleep, but still not being able to open her eyes in the waking world that she just wanted to see so badly.
Ferndusk made it to the moonpool with the other medicine cats, not surprised to see that there weren't any more medicine cat apprentices. None of them had an apprentice, but they all served their clans just the same as they would if they did have apprentices. But, Tonight, Ferndusk wasn't focused on the missing apprentices, she was focused on the last born kit in Windclan, Maplekit.
When they got to the edge of the moonpool, Ferndusk immediately touched the surface of the water with her nose and closed her eyes.
Ferndusk had been transferred to Starclan. She looked around, but could see nothing. She walked forward, still looking around, but eventually, she fell into what looked like the Dark Forest, but was a bit too bright to be that. She looked around at the trees. They had maple leaves! She looked around frantically, seeing the leaves falling all around her.
She tried to move, but her paws were stuck in the maple leaves. She heard something walking in front of her. She then saw a pair of Amber eyes staring at her menacingly. Then, it stepped out into the light. It looked just like Maplekit, but then got bigger, until she was the size of a fully grown cat.
She walked towards Ferndusk, as flashes of dead cats from all the clans went by, and slowly, the cat got covered in blood, and jumped on top of her, slitting her throat.
Ferndusk jumped up, scared out if her fur, trying to find the cat, but then realizing that she was back in the waking world. She looked at the other medicine cats and saw that they weren't concerned about how she woke up. She calmed down and they walked out of the area of the Moonpool.
When Ferndusk made it back to camp, she raced towards the nursery, and saw the same Amber eyes. Flinchwhisker looked up at her.
"She opened her eyes," Flinchwhisker said.
Ferndusk's eyes filled with fear as she recognized the same eyes from her vision. It was true, Mapleshade had been reborn.
"Flinchwhisker, we have to do something about Maplekit, if we don't, it could be the end of all the clans," Ferndusk said, looking into the eyes of the kit. She looked behind Maplekit, and saw an identical cat, just bigger and with scars, the same way the elders had described the legend. It was Mapleshade.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed that chapter, because this one took some thinking to write and was really fun, anyway, make sure to reveiw, and I'll see you guys in the next chapter of Maple Reborn!
