THE ALLIANCE

A/N: This is a BlueCatCupcakes story. I don't own Percy, or the other Rick Riordian characters I have in here. I hope you enjoy.

SUMMARY

Prince Percy and Princess Annabeth are betrothed in a war-ending alliance. Uniting the Clouds and the Sea. Annabeth is finally starting to like her new home, but then Prince Luke shows up. He wants Annabeth to join him in destroying the United Olympians. Will she listen? Or will she stand with Percy?

CHAPTER 1

I made the walk to my father's throne room, this is it. I thought I'm doomed. I knew that the reason that my father had called me here today was not to ask me what I wanted for Christmas or my upcoming birthday, it was to sentence me to the most terrible place ever. The army.

I walked into the throne room, careful to act as old and sophisticated as I could.

"Percy, it is time-." Thinking about all the death in the army made me relive my nightmares.

I could not take it, "No! Father, I cannot do this."

"Son," Poseidon paused. "Your brother has already sacrificed. It is now your turn." The last words echoed through the big blue throne room like bells.

"Honey, he won't last a day." My only and least favorite Ugly Step Mother sighed, "look at him."

Everyone in the room glanced at my skinny figure with pity.

"Father if I may," the worst person in My life spoke in such a stuck-up way it made me want to barf.

"Go on Son."

My expression darkened. "This has nothing to do with you Triton."

Triton ignored him. "Father, maybe Percy can form an alliance."

Everyone in the room froze and glanced towards Poseidon as he thought. No. This is not happening, I thought. Father will see, it's a terrible idea.

"Athena does have a girl around his age, Annie I think." Poseidon nodded slowly. I could not believe what I was hearing.

"What?! No. Father! It is-that is-disgusting!"

"It could work." Ugly Step Mother said.

"Perseus, it is your duty as Prince of The Sea."

"Then why didn't Triton marry anyone?"

"I was busy fighting for our family's honor," Triton said coldly.

"I will write General Athena. This meeting is adjourned." Poseidon stood.

"Goodnight father, sleep well mother," Triton said.

"Goodnight Triton, your father and I are so proud of you."

"Father-." I started but was cut off by Poseidon's cold stare.

"Percy you will marry Athena's daughter. This is final."

I felt the glare, "Yes Father."

"Goodnight Perseus." Said Ugly Step Mother.

"Randal," Poseidon said. "Start a note to High General Athena of The Clouds."

"Yes, sir."

I'm engaged, I thought. 16 and engaged.

_._._._

I practically skipped into the War Room. The numbers were great and it looked like Poseidon was going to back down.

"Good morning mother, I finished all of the analysis on Poseidon's army." I practically sang as I went to her desk and set the papers down.

"Annabeth," Athena sighed.

I was confused, why was mother being so serious?

"Yes, Mother?"

"King Poseidon has proposed an alliance."

An alliance with the Sea Kingdom, this would change everything.

I spoke, "An alliance. That's good casualties will be down-."

"96% I know." Athena sighed.

"What sort of alliance?"

"He has proposed that you marry his son Perseus."

Me?! Perseus?!

"Me? Perseus?"

"Yes, Annabeth. His second son."

"Mother-." I'm 16!

Athena interrupted. "Annabeth, I know."

"But-." I couldn't finish. It was too painful. But what about Luke?

"This will be your choice." She took a deep breath.

"Mine? Mother this could mean saving thousands of lives."

"Annie, you are my only daughter. I want you to be happy."

"But this decision-it-it is."

"I know that you will make the best choice." She looked straight into my eyes and I knew then that she would fight this war by herself as long as I was happy. But I couldn't live with that.

"Thank you, mother."

"I have some business to attend to."

"I finished the letter to Aunt Aphrodite and Uncle Ares. Malcolm is finishing up the proclamation to Uncle Hades and The Freelands."

Athena smiled. "How did I end up with such amazing children?"

I sighed. "I will."

"Marry him? This is an important decision. It takes time."

"If it means peace than yes. I will."

"How did I end up with such an amazing daughter?" She whispered.

I gave her a hug.

"I'm just like you mom."

_._._._

"Um...why the sunshine?" I squinted.

"Percy, father has some news for you."

I grunted. And started to drift off again.

"Percy? Fire."

"One blue Cookie, two blue cookies..."

"Perseus!"

"Triton?" I sat up, "When did you get here? Where did the blue cookie go?"

"I give up!" Triton started to storm out.

"Wait, did you say that Father had something-No! Not happening. I am not going to get married this is just a bad dream!"

"Nope! The bride has accepted, the invitations have been sent, the food has been ordered..." Triton had a wicked glint in his eye.

"Father!"

_._._._

"We need to cancel! I can't get married!"

"You can and you will." Ugly Step Mother said.

"Son, this will save thousands of lives!"

"While destroying mine!"

"If you had just accepted that military job-." Triton shook his head.

"Shut up Triton!"

"Make me."

"Boys!"

Triton and I got quiet, "Sorry father." We said.

"Percy your betrothed will be coming to stay for a week or so before the ceremony. We need you to put aside your selfish feelings and do your duty." Ugly Step Mother lectured.

"Yes, Step-Mother."

"Very good son. Princess Annie will be arriving in two days. We have a lot to do."

_._._._

"Do you have everything?"

"Yes, Mother."

"Very good."

"I'll miss you so much, mother."

"I will miss you too."

"I'll miss you too Annie." Malcolm put in jokingly.

"I'll write to you every day Malcolm."

"Ahh, granddaughter," Zeus said as he and Hera walked in. "Make me proud."

"Of course, Grandfather."

"This is a very, valiant thing that you are doing granddaughter."

"Thank you, Grandmother."

"It is time Annabeth." Mother spoke.

"I love you sister," Malcolm said as he enveloped me in a hug.

"I love you too." I sniffed. "I will bring honor."

"We know you will," Athena said. "We know that you will."

_._._._

I walked through the hallway; I reached the big doors leading out of the castle, out of my life.

"Annie!" I stopped.

"Luke?"

"Why are you leaving?! Is this about Poseidon?!"

"Yes."

"So, you're going as an ambassador then?"

"The message was a proposal, Luke."

"A proposal!?"

"Yes."

"You can't go!"

"Luke, this will save thousands of lives. My father, all of the soldiers on both sides. This will end the war; it will end future wars."

"Annie, I won't let you get married to some stupid brat just because your mother told you too!"

"I chose too. She is not making me."

"How could you?"

"Luke, I have to go."

"You don't! Look at what our parents are doing! They don't care about us! They don't care about any of the soldiers! You are too good for them!" The servants in the hall turned and looked. When they caught me looking at them, they immediately turned away.

"Luke, I made my choice."

"Triton is a jerk! I met him once all he cares about is himself!"

"Good thing I'm getting married to Percy then."

With that, I turned and walked out of the room.

_._._._

TWO DAYS LATER

_._._._

"This coat is so uncomfortable," I muttered.

"It's a jacket, Percy." Triton sighed.

"Well, it's a very uncomfortable jacket then." I retorted. Trying to get the jacket into a comfortable position.

"Percy, Triton will you both stop it?"

"Sorry, Father," I said.

"She's right there!" Ugly Step Mother announced.

"Woah," I whispered.

Annabeth walked up to the family with so much grace and elegance she had the entire kingdom quiet and in awe of her.

"Announcing Princess Annabeth of the Clouds, Prince Perseus' fiancé."

"Thank you for welcoming me into your home King Poseidon, Queen Amphridite, Prince Triton, and Prince Perseus. It is truly an honor."

For once in my life, I had nothing to say.

_._._._

"Annabeth, I just want you to know that if you ever need anything I am at your service." Triton said as he and I escorted Annabeth to her room."

"Thank you. Prince Triton?"

"Just Triton, Annabeth."

"Alright then." She said. He smiled. He was such a jerk.

"Welcome!" I said very loudly and very awkwardly.

"Thank you, Perseus." Annabeth smiled and nodded.

Triton laughed. "Just Percy, we only call him Perseus when he makes spectacular mistakes."

"Boys!" Poseidon boomed. "I am so sorry Annie they get sidetracked so easily. Perseus, Annie's room is down the west hall not the east one."

My entire face turned beet red.

"It is perfectly fine sir, and I just go by Annabeth." Her voice was so flowy.

"Oh, I apologize Annabeth." The Sea King actually looked ashamed. That is something that never happens. Looks like Annabeth's going to change this place. I thought.

"No need, my room is where?"

"This way." I stuttered.

"No, doofus it's that way." Triton laughed

"Right, sorry. This way." I was sure my face was getting even redder.

I turned and started to walk Annabeth, and Triton started to follow.

"Triton a word." Poseidon put an arm on Triton's shoulder. "Percy and Annabeth, you go on."

Annabeth and I walked down the hall. I couldn't think of anything to say.

"Um, so, yeah?" I said very intelligently.

"Yeah."

It got quiet.

"Is Triton always like that?" Annabeth asked.

"No, he's usually worse." I sighed. "Do you have any siblings?"

"One, his name is Malcolm."

"Oh! I've met Malcolm! He went to Goode for the summer games, right? Maybe? I think?"

"Yeah!" Annabeth laughed; it was a twinkly sound that made me smile. "This place is so blue!"

"It's my Father's fault, it used to be a dull gray but then he was like 'I HATE GRAY!' so my Step Mom had him go on vacation and got the entire castle painted."

"Wow. She must really care about him."

"Yeah. I guess." I said. I had never really thought about how much Ampridite loved my father.

They reached Annabeth's room.

"Well, this is it." I waved my arm uselessly at the door.

"Thanks for walking with me Percy." She said turning her deep grey eyes into mine.

"No problem Annabeth." I breathed out.

She opened the door, "Is there anything that I should know about? Like when is breakfast?"

"Oh! Yeah! Breakfast is at 8:30, lunch is at 12, dinner is at 6:30. Oh! And Step Mother wanted to go on a picnic with you tomorrow. I'm sure she will tell you about it during breakfast."

"Sounds good. Thanks." She turned to go into the room.

"Goodnight Annabeth." I blurted.

"Goodnight Percy." She turned back at me and smiled, "see you tomorrow."

END OF CHAPTER

"Good morning Princess Annabeth, is there anything that I can get for you?" I jumped. I had just opened my eyes, and to my surprise, there was a girl about my age sitting on the chair next to my bed.

"No thank you. Not right now."

"Lady Ampridite instructed that you get ready to eat."

"I can get ready on my own, but where is breakfast being served?" I asked.

"I can wait outside and guide you there when you are ready." With that, the maid walked gracefully out of the room."

_._._._

I walked into the dining room with my head held high. I was a princess and I should look and act like one. The dining room had beautiful blue walls covered in fine shell carvings.

"Annie, I hope you had a restful sleep." Lady Ampridite's soft voice floated over to where I was standing.

"Yes, I did. Thank you Lady Ampridite, and I prefer to be called Annabeth."

"Annabeth," Ampridite seemed to be tasting the name. "I am sorry for that. The boys should be down here soon." She smiled a little, "you have a brother so I imagine you know how hard it is to get them up in the mornings."

My face split into a wide grin as I thought about Malcolm and all of the beauty sleep, he got. "Malcolm always comes down late. It drives my mother crazy." I got quiet as Poseidon walked in with his royal advisor Chiron.

"Annabeth, it is good to see you. Amphitrite you look lovely." Poseidon said with a smile and I could see how much he cared for Ampridite.

"Thank you, love. You look quite dashing as well." Amphitrite smiled.

Poseidon took his seat at the head of the table and Ampridite sat on his left side. I chose to sit next to Amphitrite. I was awed by the smell that was coming in through a tiny door in the back of the room.

"It smells good." Chiron looked at me with a tiny grin and I could not help smiling back.

"It does," I said.

Suddenly the door slammed open, and Percy practically fell into the room. Poseidon shook his head sadly.

"Percy." Amphitrite sighed.

"Son a prince does not stumble, and a Prince does not run through his castle. The food is not going anywhere." Poseidon gestured to the seat across from me. "Sit down."

"Apologies, Father. Lady Amphitrite."

"Accepted Percy," he smiled a little. "I imagine that you were in quite the hurry to get here." He glanced at me and his small smile gave way to a massive grin. I could feel my face heating up. And I could see Percy's turning red as well. It was a bit attractive.

"Lady Annabeth, good morning." Tritons booming voice filled the entire room.

I wanted out. He was such a smug, arrogant, little brat-just like Luke had told me. But I was a Princess, and I should act like such. And that required responding in a polite manner. "The same to you Prince Triton."

"Good morning son." Poseidon's voice carried an edge of warning.

Triton turned towards his father as if he was surprised to see him there. "Father! I did not see you there! Good morning to you, good morning to Chiron, and good morning to my beautiful mother." He paused, "and Percy of course."

"Of course." Percy mocked. "I thank you, dear brother, for that wonderful acknowledgment."

Poseidon's glare turned on both of them. The servants started to bring in the food. It smelled so good.

I chose to break the silence. "Queen Ampridite, Percy said something about a picnic, today?"

"A picnic!" Triton exclaimed. "I will come of course."

"No Triton," Ampridite's sweet voice said, "Just I and Annabeth will be picnicking today. Unless you, your father, and Percy wish to go on a picnic together."

Percy looked at Poseidon, a question in his eyes. Poseidon shook his head. "Not today sons. I have a hearing today, and there will be no time to go and frolic." Triton deflated into his seat.

"Yes, I had forgotten about that." Triton sighed. "I guess that I will go over to the west gate and check on our security."

"Brilliant plan Triton, Percy you shall go with him." Poseidon nodded his approval and finished off his ham.

It was quiet for a second, I could see the way that this command was hurting Percy. He looked down at his plate and closed his eyes.

"Father, if I may. I do not believe that Percy will be able to stand all of the-. "

"I will go." Percy's voice was monotone and devoid of any feeling. Everyone flinched back including me.

"Percy, darling. You do not need to go." Amphitrite's soft voice was the only one to speak up. "Triton can go by himself. Right Poseidon?"

"I will go."

"Son, I was not thinking before. You stay here with me." Poseidon grabbed his arm.

"No, father."
