So... almost 10 years ago I started a fanfic. In those 10 years, a lot of things happened in my life that brought me down. But one thing I always wanted to do was finish this story off. So here I am, 10 years later, hoping that people still give me a chance and forgive the LONG hiatus that I put them through.

I have a couple chapters written of this - I can't promise regular updates, but definitely want to try to get this story written. Enjoy friends!

"So… let me get this straight," Jazz started, as she held a vice grip on her steering wheel. Cold anger laced her words. She glanced at the occupants of her car briefly through the rear-view mirror before turning her eyes back to the road. "You two, had this brilliant idea to test Danny's ghost powers, and when he decides to test the one power that he has no control over – and almost killed him a few months ago I might add- you just let him go through with it!?"

"It's not like we let him do anything Jazz," Sam said, trying to sooth the angry red head. "We tried to talk him out of it, but it was all 'Relax guys, I'm Danny Phantom, nothing can hurt me!'"

The boy in question groaned in the back seat of the car. "Can you two give it a rest?" He moved the cool towel from his face and opened one eye to look at his sister and best friend. "I admit it that was-"

"Stupid?" supplied Sam.

"Idiotic?" added Tucker.

"Reckless!?" finished Jazz. "Danny, you literally uprooted a third of Amity Forest. If anyone had been around they could've been seriously hurt. We could see it all the way across town! And let's not even start on the whole secret identity thing. If I hadn't seen it and come barrelling down the road just like Dad, you three would still be on the outskirts of town trying to hide from the police, Guys in White or even worse: Mom and Dad!"

Danny, now severely chastised, paled at his sister's remarks. "I'm sorry; I didn't think it would get so out of control. I just wanted to see if I could do it again. I just wish I could control it… and that it didn't leave me so drained after," Danny said, going from apologetic to frustrated.

"Dude, between the Ecto-Storm and the Ghostly Wail, you'll be in a loop of exhaustion and will never figure anything out. Maybe you should just focus on one," suggested Tucker. "I mean, you've already made pretty good progress on the Wail after Aragon and the creepy pharaoh guy… maybe it's time to give the storm a bit of a break."

Danny hummed in response, retreating under the towel once more and closed his eyes. The rest of the car sighed; glad to have some sort of response out him. They fell into a comfortable silence as Jazz continued to 'FentonWorks.'

A few minutes, Tucker broke the silence. "What brought you out of the house Jazz?"

"I needed to head to the library to look up a couple sources for my Ghost Envy paper. I've got the paranormal stuff down – thanks to having the leaders in ghost research as parents and a half-ghost brother – but there's still so much I need to research into the psychology side of things." Jazz paused, giving a quick glance to her brother before continuing. "On the topic of ghost obsessed parents, Danny you owe me for last night. Do you know how long Dad kept me down in the lab last night talking about the speeder?! Built in ghost shield, extra ghost rays, some scanner and to top it off, he installed the ghost gabber as a feature!"

Danny groaned. "Great, now every time we get into the speeder, I'll be hearing that stupid 'FEAR ME!' computer voice after everything I say. Ugh. Remind me to dismantle it when we go home."

"Already done little brother," Jazz replied, "Just doing my duty in helping out the team! Dad thinks there was a bug with the gabber and he's been tinkering with it all morning."

"Jazz, you are the best," Danny said with a small smile.

"Better than locking you in the thermos during ghost fights," Tucker said jokingly, taking out his PDA to play some sort of game.

"Or giving the ghosts new names," Sam added.

"Hey! I resent that," Jazz exclaimed, "I haven't done any of those things in months! Besides, Crate Creep is a much scarier name than the Box Ghost!"

"Oh, trust me, there's no way to make the Box Ghost scarier," Phantom said in a very flat tone.

Danny stiffened while everyone else in the car laughed. "Nice one!" Sam exclaimed.

"Um… I…didn't…. say that…." Danny replied apprehensively.

"I did!" Phantom said proudly. Many things happened at once – Jazz stepped on the brakes to bring the car to a screeching halt, Tucker looked up from his PDA with large eyes, Sam whipped her head around to the backseat and Danny took the towel off his face, opened his eyes and came face to face with his ghost self, sitting in the empty seat beside him with a sheepish grin on his face.

"Um…." Phantom started, "Hi?"

Ethelwulf looked on as the 4, now 5, teenagers broke into confused and spooked chatter with mild interest. The ghost floated in the air, lounging about with his wings folded neatly onto its back. He still didn't quite understand why Clockwork insisted he be here to watch this boy figure out his powers, but he couldn't say he was bored.

"This boy certainly has an interesting life. Is it true he stopped the Ghost King when Plasmius released him a few months ago?" Ethelwulf asked. The answer he received was the screen changing to show a tired Danny Phantom in a battle suit pushing Pariah Dark into the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep briefly before moving back to the present. "Ah. Well then. No wonder you and your people worship him Frostbite."

The yeti ghost smiled. "Indeed. The Great One certainly is special. I hope to meet him one day."

Ethelwulf turned from the screen to Frostbite to give him a searching look. "I met him once, albeit in a different form and he was not in any condition to talk, but I found nothing so special about him. Apart from the obvious, of course. Balance is normal and welcome, but not special."

Frostbite's eyes narrowed. "I'm sure he'll surprise you Ethelwulf. He's quite powerful for someone so young."

"Perhaps," Ethelwulf replied wistfully. He brought one of his large paws to his face and looked at his claws with feigned interest. "But watching him and his friends bicker over uncontrolled powers is not worth my time." He rolled over onto his back and looked at the screen upside down.

The four teens and the ghost stood around the alley looking at each other and taking in what the ghost boy said. Phantom and Fenton both faced each other, almost mirroring each other's stance and actions.

"So… You're not a duplicate," Jazz started, looking between both personas of her brother.

"No."

"And Danny didn't accidently go through the Fenton Catcher again?"

"That's a hard no." Fenton shook his head as he eyed his ghost half warily.

"You're basically another version of Danny?"

"I… don't think so?" Phantom looked at Fenton, confusion mirrored on their faces. "It's like, we're still the same person, but different viewpoints."

"Yeah," Fenton agreed. "It's…uh… Our thoughts are together, and we can move independently, but we have other thoughts and opinions. I can't explain it."

"What happens if you try to transform?" Tucker asked.

Phantom and Fenton looked surpised for a second before simultaneously facing each other, a ring of light appearing at their waists. The rings travelled through both Dannys, switching Fenton to Phantom and Phantom to Fenton. "This is so weird!" They both said, changing back into their first forms.

"Tell me about it. It gives talking to yourself a whole new meaning!" Tucker exclaimed, semi proud of his quip. The four teenagers replied with annoyed glares.

Sam sighed. "While I would love to repeat that whole escapade with the Fenton Catcher, how about we figure out how to get back together? Danny-"both boys turned their heads towards her. "Ugh, that's confusing. Danny Fenton, can you use your ghost powers at all?"

Fenton closed his eyes for a moment, as if he was searching for something. "I can feel them," he said after a few minutes, "but there's something blocking me from them."

Phantom turned to his human half. "I think, if you transform you'd be able to. I feel the same way about my human self. It's there, but it's not. Maybe this is a new power? Clockwork did say we'd have more of them" He made a face. "I just referred to myself as 'we.'"

"What if you think about merging?" Jazz asked. "If this is a new power, and you can hear each other's thoughts then it's all about mind over matter."

Fenton and Phantom looked at each other. "Worth a shot," they said, before closing their eyes. In perfect sync, both Dannys took a deep breath and started to glow. Phantom glowed green, then transparent, then disappeared altogether. Fenton then gasped, before opening his eyes and staggering a bit. Tucker grabbed his arm to steady him.

"That…was not what I was expecting," he panted, putting his feet firmly on the ground and putting a hand to his head. "I have two sets of memories and my powers are not completely settled."

Jazz, Sam and Tucker shared a concerned look before turning attention to Danny. He looked paler than usual and his breathing seemed erratic. The toll of the Ecto-storm was still with him.

"Maybe you should take it easy for a bit," Jazz suggested, eyeing her brother carefully. "No more powers today if you can help it."

Danny scoffed. "Have you met me? When has the universe ever said I can rest? I don't even know how I did that!?"

Jazz bristled, readying for a fight, before sighing through her frustration. "All I'm asking is to not be purposely reckless." She looked at her watch. "I need to get to the library before it closes. You three want a ride back to FentonWorks?"

The trio in question looked at each other, Sam and Tucker eyeing Danny's state, before shaking their heads. "It's only a block away, and I think we should stay put until Danny is more stable on his feet," Sam said, leaning against the wall of the alley as if settling in.

Danny frowned. "Hey, I'm not that bad!" He stood up straighter to prove a point, only to have his knees buckle slightly and Tucker braced him again. He sighed as he felt three sets of eyes glaring at him. "Point taken."

The red headed sighed at her brother's stubbornness before saying goodbye and headed back to her car. Danny broke away from Tucker, stumbled towards the same wall Sam was leaning against before putting his back to it and slid down to the ground. He closed his eyes, putting his head back against the brick. "I hate this. I hate this so much."

"Maybe the next time you decide to try a ghost power that can destroy both a large area of green space and yourself, you'll listen to your friends instead of being all high and mighty," Sam replied in a huff.

Danny's brow furrowed, but said nothing. Tucker looked over his friend exasperatedly, before sitting across from the pair of teens. "She's not wrong you know. You look awful. That Ecto-storm must drain you faster or something."

Sam looked at Tucker quizzically. "That's the second time you called that power an 'Ecto-Storm.'"

Tucker shrugged. "It releases a ton of energy and looks similar to things like a hurricane or a tornado. Couldn't think of anything else to call it other than 'that power that destroys everything.'"

The trio sat in silence for a few minutes, only the sounds of the street and Danny's ragged breathing. When Danny's breathing returned to normal he opened his eyes. "It's not just that it's draining. The Ecto-Storm feels different than the rest of my powers."

"Even the Ghostly Wail," Sam said, looking down at him.

"Yeah. The Wail just uses a lot of energy." Danny frowned, "The Storm feels… raw. Like there's a deeper layer to my powers that I can tap into, but shouldn't." He ran his hands over his face. "When I used it against Fear and that copy of my Future Self, I remember feeling that it was draining me from both Fenton and Phantom."

"That would explain a lot," Tucker said, shuddering slightly. "When you transformed from your ghost half to your human half, there was a moment where everything just stopped, but large sparks of energy went through you."

Sam's face twitched as she listened to her friends talk about the newly named Ecto-Storm. "Can we talk about something else? Like, how 30 minutes ago there were two of you and we had no idea how that happened?"

Danny's brow furrowed in thought. "I think they might be related."

Sam looked at him confused. "You lost me."

"Think about it," he said, sitting up slightly. "The Ecto-Storm uses raw energy right? And takes from both Fenton and Phantom. I think, maybe, me being able to separate both my ghost and human selves are a side effect from using this power." He frowned slightly, "Though if I feel this drained when we're standing still, I don't want to know how I'd feel when using any powers."

Silence fell again, letting Danny's words sink in. It was a few more moments before Tucker broke it.

"Can't Vlad do something like that?"

Danny made a face. "Tucker, it's summer vacation. Can we not talk about Vlad's powers and how he can do so many more things than I can?"
