Chapter 28 last train to Clarksville
While the four of them were walking up and down the train to find something to do, Micky stopped in front of the cargo car and suddenly had a huge grin upon his face as he slowly turned the door knob.
"Micky? What are you doing? "asked Davy
" What does it look like im doing?"said micky as the door was now slightly open
" We cant go in there micky,it says 'authorized personnel only'."said Peter
" Relax pete,its not like we're going to get caught or anything, and besides would you rather have some fun,or sit in a boring train car with mike all the way home? "Asked Micky
" I vote on going in there to see what's inside."said Stephanie
" That a girl steph. "Said Micky " What about you davy?"
" Something tells me I'm going to regret this ,but im in."davy sighed
" How 'bout it pete? You coming? "Asked Micky
" Okay but as long as we dont get caught. "Said Peter
Sneaking into the cargo room, the four of them began looking around the room at all of the things that were piled high up on all the shelves. As they were all looking around, micky found a familiar red object covered badly by a dusty old tarp.
"Hey davy, pete come over here for a second."said Micky
"What's the matter micky?"asked Davy
" Remember how mike said that he sent the car on ahead? "Asked Micky
" Yeah."said davy
" Well,look what I found."Micky said as he removed the tarp
" why is the car here? Shouldn't it be on its way home?"asked Stephanie
" It seems like ol nez lied to us about the car already being gone." Micky said with a sigh
" So what, do we just go up to mike and have him confess? "Asked davy
" No."micky said as he shook his head "I have a better idea."
Climbing into the car micky got himself ready to start honking the horn with hopes of attracting Mike's attention. Despite protests from both peter and Davy, Micky soon began honking the horn which not only attracted the attention of Mike but also the attention of the railroad inspector who was fuming more than mike had been.
Because of their sneaking into the cargo car and disrupting the other passengers, the guys along with the car their belongings and Stephanie were escorted off the train,meaning that Mike had to drive everyone the rest of the way home.
As they were driving down the dirt road,Mike looked over at Micky who was sitting in the passenger seat and slammed on the brakes.
" You just couldn't stay out of trouble could you?"said Mike
" What? All i did was find our car that was supposed to be going on ahead of us like you said it was going to do." Said Micky
" That's not the point right now,the point is you got us kicked off the train mick,and now instead of having an easy trip home im stuck driving everyone in the middle of all this heat."said Mike
" Um mike,its not entirely micky's fault since we all were in the same place as he was. "Said Peter
" Were you the one honking the horn too? Because all I saw was micky doing that."said Mike with a heavy sigh
" Look man,i get that i shouldn't have done what i did. And did i learn anything? Probably not but,look on the bright side driving home wont be too bad since we probably aren't too far from it."said Micky
Restarting the car,everyone was silent the remainder of the way home all except for Stephanie and Davy who was telling her all about how their house led directly to the beach from their back door.
Wondering if having her brother taking her home with him and his friends,was still a good idea, Stephanie had a feeling that she definitely had to get used to how things were going to be, and if her aunt had made the right decision to allow mike to take her along after all.
