"Dude, have you read Natalya's project for Mr. Laurinaitis' class?"
The American asked as he adjusted his glasses and walked beside the smaller British male.
"Well obviously. It's a masterpiece!"
Arthur answered with excitement, pressing the books he was carrying against his chest.
"How the hell did you read that without feeling nauseous? It's just too graphic for me man".
Alfred made a disgusted look on his face that caused some giggles from his friend.
"That's clearly because you don't know how to appreciate good literature. I don't even know why you are taking creative writing. God, I wish I could write with so much detail like her and-".
The Brit couldn't finish his sentence when Alfred covered his mouth to avoid him from speaking in front of Natalya, who happened to be passing by.
Natalya Arlovskaya had her earphones on as she walked by his classmates, not even noticing them, completely lost in her own thoughts. Normally she would throw some angry glances at them but this time she seemed distracted, something was off.
"You git! Why on earth would you do that?"
Arthur growled and slapped Alfred's hand away, but then he saw Natalya walking into the classroom, and then everything made sense.
"Oh my goodness, do you think she heard me?"
The American rolled his eyes and grabbed some of the books that his friend was carrying, they seemed awfully heavy.
"You need to be more careful with what you say Artie, and let me help you with that".
Arthur seemed annoyed but still allowed Alfred to carry some of his books. Suddenly he heard the voice of Mr. Toris taking attendance, class had already started.
"I can't believe this, you're making me late again! I'm not walking to class with you anymore".
The British shouted angrily, running towards his class but tripping on a hole on the ground that made his books fell on the ground. He began cursing loudly, the American just laughed, with that obnoxious laughter of his as he began helping Arthur.
Meanwhile in class, Natalya was already settled in class, her notebook was out and she was playing around with a pen on her hand. She wasn't known in class for being the talkative type, she was quite and often perceived by others as scary or mysterious. Everyone also knew that she is a great writer, the best in their class and maybe the best in the university. The Belarusian didn't have friends, she came to study and only that. She wouldn't talk to anyone unless it was class related, that's how serious she was.
Mr. Toris Laurinaitis was the creative writing teacher, as usual he greeted his students in a friendly manner. Taking some of his class time to ask them how were they and how their weekend was. After that the Lithuanian began the lesson, starting by giving back some of the class projects. Followed by it, some students approached him with late projects that haven't been turned in, Alfred was one of them. Even though the teacher clearly mentioned he wouldn't be taking late projects, he ended up taking them anyway. Toris had a soft spot for his students and he didn't want to fail anyone, all he wanted was that his students enjoyed creative writing and love it as much as he did.
"I want us to give miss Arlovskaya a big round of applause for having the highest grade in the project".
The professor said, with a warm smile as he looked at Natalya, one of his best students. She was never late for a class, never missed a class and never failed any project or exam, she was practically a genius. The Belarusian widened her eyes when she was called and her classmates began applauding. It really made her feel proud of herself, she put in a lot of work for this project. A small grin appeared on her face, although it frightened her classmates because they had never seen her happy before. She looked down on her papers and read some of the corrections the teacher had made, but something caught her attention when she turned to the last page. She noticed that mr. Laurinaitis had left her a note, asking her to see him after class since he had some questions about the project. Natalya was a bit surprised, she had never been called to a teacher's office before since she has always been a straight A student.
Soon, the class ended and the students began to leave. Toris approached the Belarusian with his usual friendly smile, hoping to not have startled her with his note.
"Miss Arlovskaya, I was hoping we could have a talk in my office. Don't worry about it, you aren't in trouble or anything, I just have some questions about your project".
She nodded and quickly gathered her things, throwing them into her backpack and following her professor to his office. When they arrived, she took a seat and began looking around the small room. Toris had decorated the space with plants and pictures of his dogs. She thought it was adorable, but she wasn't going to say anything about it.
"Now, let's begin with the questions. What inspired you to write this novel?"
Natalya was silet nt for a few seconds as she was trying to come up with an answer.
"When I was little, my big sister and big brother would rent those old and low budget movies to watch on Halloween, I think that's what inspired me the most to write this project".
The Lithuanian nodded, seeming intrigued by the Natalya's childhood story, he didn't know that she had siblings.
"How would you describe your project in your own words?"
He asked, jotting down the previous answer that she gave on a piece of paper.
"It's a failed love story really, Bree, the main character finds herself trapped in an abusive and toxic relationship with her boyfriend Archie. He begins to act violently and even threatens to kill her due to his uncontrolled jealousy, which eventually led Bree to murdering him in an attempt to escape from him".
The professor remained in silence as he continued writing down what his student just said.
"I noticed that the story had an inconclusive ending, why? and did you do that on purpose?"
She nodded, quite surprised that his teacher had noticed all those details. She thought that maybe he wouldn't pay much attention to her work since he has so much projects to grade.
"Mr. Laurinaitis, what would you do if you were in Bree's place and had to get rid of a grown man's body?"
The question gave Toris chills, this girl was metal as hell, what sort of come back was that? Perhaps she got offended by his question, the Lithuanian thought to himself before replying.
"Um, well, that's an interesting question. I guess that if I were in her place I would get rid of the body completely without leaving evidence. That means I'm not dragging it out in a trash bag and throwing him in the river or burry him in my backyard. I guess I would chop him into pieces, mix it with cement and throw it in a river or ocean. It won't leave any evidence since it'll be in the bottom of the water. Another way would be feeding it to a bear or something, to make it seem like I didn't do it".
The professor didn't actually know what to do if he had to make a corpse disappear. He was too pure to even think about killing someone and his answers were just ways he read in student's writings that he happened to remember. Meanwhile, she stared at him bewildered as she listened to the explanation.
"Well in Bree's case, she panicked and burst into tears when she realized what she had done. Even though Archie was a terrible person that broke her heart a million times, she still regrets killing him. She is still in love with him, although he had damaged her so much. That's why I gave it that ending, where she just throws herself on the lifeless body and begins sobbing".
The Lithuanian stopped taking notes and scratched his head, wondering how Natalya could come up with such intense plots and character developments.
"Well then, thank you very much for coming and you're free to go now. Congratulations again on your project and I'm hoping for a sequel!".
He said with enthusiasm, standing up and opening the door for her. He always liked to encourage his students to continue writing outside of class.
"I'll think about it".
Natalya said under her breath, walking out of the office and leaving campus.
"You fool, how did you not come up with that earlier?"
She said to herself as she rode on her red motorcycle and put on her helmet, safety first. But before she could start the engine, she rode off the vehicle and walked into the cafeteria beside her university. She ordered an ice coffee, she needed energy for the job she was going to do.
"Yekaterina, hello it's me. Do you have a chainsaw? Alright I'll be picking it up from your place".
She hanged the phone, took a sip from her drink and quickly rode to her sister's place. She had the keys so she let herself in and took what she needed. Yekaterina was outside of the country for a few days, she went on a road trip with her boyfriend Matthew. Natalya then head back home, to her small apartment on the third floor. She searched for her keys in her pockets and took another drink from the ice coffee then opened the door.
"Hey there, handsome".
She said with a smirk, looking down on the lifeless body of her brother on the floor, a knife stuck on his throat and blood splattered everywhere.
