So here is the next chapter, and I am over all happy with it. But I do apologise if you think it's moving a bit slowly, and haven't really gotten into the movie yet. I am heading there, I just want Cara and Loki's relationship to be better before that, so it will be at least two more chapters before that.
Master Rahl is from Sword of Truth, as always.
The Goron's are from Legend of Zelda.
The dress Cara has is more or less Triss DLC dress from Witcher 3.
And the part with Heimdall, I just had to. I have nothing against him, but it was just me having a bit of fun.
And Odin, well he is an arse, but if you have read my other story, that isn't something new.
Anyway, I think that's all. I hope to be able to update soon.
Thank you for reading and reviewing 3
Enjoy!
Loki had kept an eye on Cara the following days, but it was as nothing had happened, she didn't spoke about what her father had done or the connection that now was between them. He was still trying to get used to the feeling of always feeling another beings present.
She had answered him very patiently every time he had a question and he had come to understand that their bound was different to the one had to Richard in the past. She couldn't pinpoint his location as some had been able to do with Richard, but she could sense where he was to a certain degree, compared to him. Cara had said that he couldn't because it wasn't created for Master Rahl to find his subjects.
He had almost felt as a child once more due to all the questions he asked, but it was fascinating. It was magic he had never come in contact with before, and it had sounded so simple, but he understood that it was complexed. Especially the protection it gave her against her father.
He had asked about her father to make sure that the bound had worked, and when he had mentioned the man, Cara had become colder than normally and he had decided not to ask about him. Yet his curiosity was there, he wondered about the reason for the man to search for her, and why she hated him so.
Loki could understand some of the hate seeing what the man did towards his daughter, something that was far from understandable. He was far from the best father, but he would never send someone after his children to capture or hurt them.
However, he wondered what had made the man do it, had Cara done something to anger him? He often thought of how much of a stranger she really was to him, yet she lived in his chamber. She had healed by now but he hadn't asked her to move out. She had offered but he had informed her that she was free to stay.
In all honesty he prefered it, not only because he could be sure of her safety, but he also enjoyed her company, and Thor's friends didn't bother him as much with her around. It may be due to the fact that Thor didn't requested his company as much with Cara there. He could tell that his brother missed him, and Loki missed the big oaf as well, but not their activities.
He preferred the quiet moments with Cara, where the both of them were reading a book, only speaking if they wished to show the other one a section that caught their interest or ask a question. They left his chambers from time to time, when he wished to show her a part of the palace. He couldn't tell if she founded it to her likening, but she never stated that she was opposed it.
That was the reason she was walking next to him, he had wished to show her his mother's garden, but as she now stopped, so did he. He wondered what he reason for doing so was.
"You have horses here?" She asked and he blinked a few times, he hadn't reacted to the familiar sound of the creature. He barely went there anymore, not since his father moved Sleipnir.
He knew that he should be pleased that his father accepted his son, especially compared to what he thought of the others. Loki was just thankful for his mother and how she had founded new homes for Jörmungandr and Fenrir, pleasing both him and Odin. He had been furious when Odin threw out Hel, but she had made herself home in Hell, and she always assured him that she was alright and he wanted to believe her.
He was still upset that Signy had left with the twins without a word, but he had respected her choice. If she thought that the children would be happier elsewhere, he wouldn't oppose her, only wanting what was best for them.
And he should be glad that Odin accepted Sleipnir, and that he had a good life, his own stable and got everything he wished for. Loki only wished he could see him more, but Odin kept the horse busy, and with him elsewhere, Loki rarely if ever visited the stables.
"Yes we do," he finally remembered to answer and he saw how Cara's eyes lit up in a way he hadn't seen before.
"Would it be rude of me to ask to visit the stables?"
"No of course not," he assured her, a bit taken by how different her glance and posture had been when she asked. He couldn't say why, but he hadn't taken her for a person that liked animals. He hadn't thought she disliked them either, just not one that liked them to this degree.
Loki turned away from the garden and towards the large stable instead. Besides his father, they all had their own horse in there. He only used his when Thor dragged him on an adventure where it was needed. He liked the animals, but after everything with Sleipnir and his father, he never saw horses the same again. Besides Thor's friends liked to taunt him for it.
He was unsure if Cara knew the story, it wasn't a well-hidden secret, but as they entered she didn't give him a comment as many others did. He doubted that she would, yet he couldn't be sure. But seeing that she did no such thing made him more than pleased.
"I never thought of you as anyone who liked horses," Loki admitted and Cara turned towards him, giving him a relaxed smile.
"I guess I am not selling the part," she joked before turning her gaze to the horses. "I have always taken a liking to animals, and I have always tried to have any when I could. Normally it's a dog, but when I could I also had horses. However, it's many years since the last time."
"Would you fansy going for a ride?" He asked and she turned towards him once more, smiling in a way she had never done before, and he soon felt how he smiled as well.
"Could we?"
"If you wish for it," he rarely went for a ride, but he was willing to do so, if it would lead to Cara continue smiling like that.
He couldn't say why, but her smile made him relaxed in a way he hadn't felt in a long time, as well feeling almost ridicules joyful. He almost laughed at his own behaviour, but instead he collected himself, knowing he couldn't go around and smile all day. He was a prince after all, and his father had thought him to behave when he was out in public.
"Feel free to choose from any of the horses on that side," he pointed at the left part of the stable, those horses were provided for their guests, and while Cara seemed to think about it, he walked over to his grey horse, Quinn. She was pleased to see him, she always was, and he had nothing against her, she was a fine horse. He started to prepare her for the ride.
When he was done he went outside to find Cara standing there with Dracon and he wondered how she had managed to get close to him. Dracon was for their guests, but few could get close to him and most stayed away. The only one the horse seemed to like was his mother and to his surprise Heimdall.
Yet here he was almost snuggling up against Cara and Loki smiled once more. It was almost laughable how it seemed as the woman could make everyone like her. And it made him wonder even more about her father and why he searched for her, and why the men who had come here seemed to wish to hurt her.
"He normally dislikes people," Loki informed her as they walked closer with Quinn, and as Dracon wanted to prove him right, his ears fell back in an angry gesture when Loki got closer.
"He reminds me of an old horse of mine, Mirror. He wouldn't let others close either," Cara patted Dracon who seemed to be happier at once. "Your horse is very beautiful."
"That she is, her name is Quinn," he informed her and Cara slowly touched her and his horse seemed to melt under her hand as well, leaving Loki to wonder if she used some sort of magic. However, he could feel none and he came to the conclusion that she was one of people who had a good hand with animals.
"Is there any particular part of the city you wish to see?" He asked as they mounted their horses and she seemed to think about it.
"I have yet to see the Bifrost, if you are willing to take me there?" Loki thought about it, he never went there without a reason, and he wasn't particular keen on meeting Heimdall, but he nodded none the less. He could see the appeal for an outsider to see the bridge.
"As you wish my Lady."
"Are you alright with it?" She asked as she rode by his side.
He was once more taken by her concern. She had a desire to see a location, but was willing to go elsewhere if he said no. Everything she said and did towards him made him wonder more about her father. Loki had seen what she could do to the ones chasing her, and she was far from always friendly, yet he had a hard time grasping why her father sought for her in the way he did.
"I am. It's a location I seldom visit, but it is beautiful, and I would gladly show it to you," he answered and she gave him a smile as they rode through the gate and left the palace behind.
They rode slowly through the city and as they did he pointed out some locations to her and she listened. It was such a change to see how someone was interested in his knowledge and what he said. Thor rarely cared about it, his mother did, but it was little he could tell her that she didn't already knew. He was aware of the fact that she was polite and listened every time, she liked it due to how passionate he was about it, but yet she already knew about the things he said.
Cara's knowledge about the city was still limited and she was pleased to be inform. Sometimes she asked a question, either due to something she read in one of the books our out of curiosity. Rarely she did a comparison to another place she had visited, and when she did he listened, fascinated to learn more about her and other worlds.
"I had friends who were blacksmiths," she added when they stopped in front of the blacksmiths store. Loki had informed her that the shop had been there almost as long as Asgard, and that George the dwarf was the best sword maker in the city. However, if one sought better weapon they had to travel outside Asgard.
"Where they dwarves as well?" he asked. In his world it was known that dwarves were the best weapon makers and he wondered if it was the same in other worlds.
"No, not these ones," she said with a soft laugh as she showed him a hologram of a species he was unfamiliar with. "They are called Goron's. They are a kind of rock people who often lives near Death Mountain, an active Volcano. They are often very friendly and open, and they make excellent weapons."
"I have never seen anything like them."
"Not surprising, I have only met them in one world."
"It's a shame, I would have been interested to meet them and learn more about them."
"I…I may have a book you can borrow. It's about their world, so them together with other kinds are included."
"Are you sure?" He had heard how hesitant she was and he didn't seek to force her. He almost smiled over the fact that he was willing to turn down knowledge, if it would pain Cara to share it.
"I am."
"Then I would gladly borrow it. Shall we continue?" She only nodded as he took the reins and steered towards the bridge.
"You want to race?" Loki asked as they stopped in front of the bridge. Cara had been looking out over the water and into space before she turned towards him.
"Is Dracon capable? No injuries or anything that will pain him?" Cara wished to make sure and Loki smiled.
Few people would ask suck a thing if he offered to race them. The times he participated in a race everyone simply wished to beat him, seeing that no one among their people had managed. It was one of the few things people couldn't deny that he was skilled in, or turn around to something condescending, no instead they chose to not speak about it, not wishing to applauded him for something.
But when he offered everyone directly accepted, some even pressed their horses to far and he had mostly stopped racing due to that. However, he wished to test Cara's skills and a race was perfect for that. Yet she had asked him question about her horse before accepting and he smiled towards her.
"He is without injuries and more than capable," Loki informed her and Cara nodded, looking at the horse and then at the distance, thinking it over. Loki wondered what went through her mind, but then she smiled.
"I am willing to race you," he felt excited at once. "But I need to know a few things first, so I don't damage Dracon. Is the surface flat? How long is the bridge? And when do I need to stop?"
"The bridge is flat and without any obstacles. The bridge is three kilometres, and you need to stop ten meters before the observatory," he informed her and she nodded.
"How about trotting for a kilometre or so, giving the horses a chance to warm up before we race?" He only nodded in agreement and they started to trot down the bridge.
"Are you ready?" He asked her when they stopped. Cara patted Dragor before she shorted the reins and nodded. "One, two, three!"
He had barely time to say tree before Quinn sat off. She loved to gallop, especially if she could compete, and he couldn't deny that he loved it as much.
He could hear that Cara and Dracon was close by, closer than most were when they got near the finish line. That she managed to stay close and not fall off told him that she was as skilled as he had anticipated.
He felt it more than he saw it at first, when they passed him. He saw that she had let go of Dracon's reins, giving him the chance of running faster. It seemed as Cara had prevented Dracon from running as fast as he could when they started. Many people did that, thinking that if they created a distance at first, the other one would not be able to catch up. However, it only lead to their horse being too tired to finish the race.
But Cara had done it right and Loki glanced down at Quinn and smirked before he gave her free reins and she sat after Dracon. Quinn had no problem to catch up to the dark horse and she was soon by his side. Dracon's ears fell backwards at once and Loki saw how the horse was about to attack Quinn when Cara suddenly pulled the reins and came to a halt.
Loki passed the finish line only a few meters away before he had time to stop. He turned around towards Cara who was now standing in front of Dracon, schooling him. The horse seemed to be ashamed as he wished to disappear and it made Loki giggle, just as Heimdall walked out.
The keeper seemed to be taken by the fact that he laughed and he turned towards him.
"It has been a long time since I heard you laugh my prince," he commented and Loki stopped at once. His father had taught him better than to do such thing in public. Heimdall gave him a look he couldn't read, before the God turned towards Cara who walked over.
Dracon was walking next to her, looking down and trying to get Cara's attention again, whoever she ignored him.
"Are you two alright?"
"We are. He never bit her," Loki assured her as he landed on the ground next to his horse. Quinn buffed her head against Cara in gratitude and she patted the horse.
"So you are the woman who entered the kingdom without my knowledge," Heimdall's words made Cara turn towards him with a small smile. Loki could tell that it wasn't genuine, but it appeared friendly.
"That is me."
"May I ask how you did it?"
"I found a spell. I never thought it would work and only tried it as a joke, but clearly the joke is on me," she simply lied, unwilling to informing the gate keeper. Loki still didn't know how the woman travelled between worlds. Heimdall turned towards Loki, who stayed silent.
He couldn't tell if Heimdall believed her or if he thought she lied and that Loki knew, but simply refused to inform him or not.
"What brings you here your highness?"
"I asked him to take me here. I have never seen anything like this," Cara answered when she noticed that Loki hesitated. He often felt unsure of what to answer people when Cara was involved.
He felt that she wished for no one to know about her, and he was unsure of where she drew the line. What could he tell people and what did she wish to keep a secret.
"Few Midgardian's have, earth being a simple place," Heimdall stated and Cara almost smirked. She appeared to be pleased that the God didn't knew too much about her and what she had seen.
"It is, isn't it?" She wasn't interested in correcting him. "Can you travel anywhere with this?"
Loki glanced at her when they walked inside and for a second he feared that she sought to leave, that she only wished to see it because she may be able to use it. He wouldn't stop her, yet he was not prepared for her to leave yet.
"Don't fret, I have no intention to use it, because if I did it would only mean that I would be stuck in another world. One that I would need to get to know and who knows what horrid place I may enter," she whispered to him and he relaxed at once. He knew he shouldn't be as pleased as he was that she would stay. She needed to leave when she could, but he wished for some more time with her, and that she would inform him before she left, giving him a chance to prepare.
He could tell that Heimdall was observing them, especially when he gave her a smile in response, but the older man kept silent.
"So can you travel anywhere?"
"Anywhere within the nine realms," Heimdall answered her. "Are you interested in visiting one of them?"
Loki had the power to use the Bifrost as he wished, but rarely did. He had visited the other realms in his younger day, but if he sought to do so today, he used other methods. He didn't wish for his father to know where he went and when, especially since he mostly visited Hel when he left. But if Cara wished to do so, he would accompany her.
"I don't think I am ready for that yet," she simply smiled. "Can you visit places beyond the nine realms as well?"
The question seemed to baffle Heimdall, and Loki hide a smirk. To see the all-seeing God struggle was amusing.
"There is nothing beyond the nine realms my Lady."
"Oh I thought it would be. Maybe it's the simple Midgardian stories that confuses me," Loki could tell that Cara found pleasure in teasing the other one, even if she hid it well.
"It may be so. What did you think would be beyond the nine realms?" Heimdall gave her a glance and Loki observed her as she pretended to think.
"I am unsure. Seeing that Gods exist, maybe heavens and hells from other religions."
"They do not exist," Heimdall declared.
"Hm, won't the ones at home be disappointed when knowing that they have worshiped the wrong Gods all those years."
Loki had in all honesty never considered the possibility of other Gods, then the ones in the nine realms, but it was most likely due to the fact that he was unaware of other worlds.
"You plan to tell them?" Heimdall wondered and she shrugged her shoulders.
"Maybe, but most likely not. People would think of me as crazy, I sometimes do when I walk around her, thinking it may all be a dream."
"I assure you that we are real," Loki told her and she turned towards him.
"You often say that, but who can one be sure?" Cara glanced between the two Gods and Heimdall seemed to be a bit confused by her question.
"It is a philosophical question, none of us may exist, but one may never know. I will continue ensuring you that we are real, if you wish to believe in it or not is up to you," Loki answered.
"But if I chose not to believe, what will happen then?"
"If you try you may have your answer."
"But what if I am too scared to accept that none of it exists, and fools myself into believing, even if I knew it's all a lie. What will happen then?"
"Heimdall, can you as the all-seeing God answer that question?" Loki turned towards the other man, sounding as he sought his wisdom.
"I cannot since I know that we are real, and therefor can't see a world where we don't exist."
"But what if that's only because you believe we exist?" Cara asked and Loki nodded.
"It may be, but I can still not provide you with an answer my Lady."
"Somehow that's scarier. Either there is nothing to see, or you cannot imagine a world where you don't exist, unable to accept the truth. What if you don't really exist? Or what if you only think you exist because I think you do?"
Loki could tell that Heimdall became confused and possibly a bit unsure and maybe even questioning his own existence. He hid another smile as he turned towards Cara.
"Are you alright?" Loki asked pretending to be concern when he saw her horrid expression.
"I am not. I think I need to return to process this, especially the thought of you all disappearing if I stop believing."
"Of course, let us return."
"It was nice meeting you Heimdall, I hope you really exist," she told the man before they mounted the horses and rode off.
Loki had glanced at Cara as they rode away, and the fourth time he did it she looked back, and gave him a smile.
"Why did you do it?"
"I don't know, maybe boredom or because I disliked how he judged me from the start, simply because I was in your company," she honestly answered. "I could ask if you thought it was wrong, but seeing that you aided me, I think I have my answer."
"I found it amusing, so I chose to follow your lead. And I apologise that he judged you, simply because you were in my presents," Loki made Quinn come to a halt when Cara stopped. She turned towards him and he met her blue eyes.
"You have nothing to apologise for Loki! He should not judge me because I am in your company, just as he should not judge you!" She almost sounded angry, and for some reason he felt warm over the fact that someone stood up for him.
"I am more than used to it," he tried to ease her mind, but it seemed as it made her angrier.
"You shouldn't need too!" She answered before she sighed and looked towards the sky. "I don't know you or your people well enough to say why they treat you as they do, but from what I have seen there is no reason for it. I can't find anything you have done wrong, that you are different in anyway or that your parents have done something to make others judge you."
Loki was silent for a long time. It was a question he had asked many times, why was he treated differently? He had found no direct answer to him, not even his mother had been able to provide one. She had tried to stop it but without managing.
"I am simply different, mostly due to the fact that I am not a warrior in the same way as others."
"You don't have to be swing a weapon to be a warrior, besides you know how to use weapons. I can't see why it would matter if you use a hammer, sword, spear, magic or knives. For me it's not reason enough to treat you as they do!"
"I may have played one to many tricks, or told one to many lies as a child, for them to trust me."
"You were a child, that's what children does. They play tricks and they lie about most things, that's still not reason enough. Your world gives me a headache; your people seem to be idiots!" Cara sighed as she lowered her gaze and met his once more. "I apologise for my anger."
Loki was unsure of what to answer, people rarely got angry at his behalf. His mother did, but she was his mother so it was expected. Thor did from time to time, but not as often as when they were children, he even believed some of the things people said. It wasn't often but Loki could see how his brother doubted him from time to time, and it hurt every time. However, Cara's words made him feel warm once more.
"There is no reason for your to apologise, and I wish the situation was different."
"So do I, knowing how difficult it can be," Loki gave her a questioning look as they started riding again.
When she didn't answered him at once, he thought she would ignore his look at first.
"As you most likely have figured out, my father isn't a good man, rather the opposite. His goal was to rule my world, a goal I never shared, but many thought I did. When I started school most people avoided me because of that. I paid it little to no mind seeing I had friends, but as I got older it became harder, and most people treated me simply awful. At first it was only on the 'good' side, but in the end it was both sides. They simply judged me without knowing more than my name. It made me turn my back on almost all of them, and in the end I left my world due to different reasons, and I am set on never returning."
Loki was surprised that she shared something with him. It was more than she had ever told him, yet it told him so little. He was still unaware of what her father had done to her, and now also her world. Why others sought for her, how she could travel between worlds and how people had treated her. But he was aware that she had told him the story to show him that she knew his situation.
"It pains me to hear that you had to leave your home," he honestly said. People mostly treated him unfairly but he could never imagine leaving Asgard, willing or unwillingly.
"So am I. But I have got new homes after that," he saw how she tried to smile but it seemed more sadden than happy, and he gave her another questioning glance. "Pay it no mind, I have already told you too much. It's simply better if you don't know more."
Loki felt as she hadn't told him enough, but he didn't state his opinion. However, her words and smile made him concerned, and he guessed she knew it would, and she tried to push him away once more. Yet, for everything she shared he became more interested and it was as he wished to solve a puzzle. But he also wished for her to be happy and feel safe. Why? He couldn't say, yet he wished for it.
"You are free to make a home here if you want. I can help you settle down in the city if you wish for it," he offered, maybe that would lift her spirit.
"That is very kind of you Loki, but I can't. As soon as I am able I need to continue traveling. I don't want to see death and destruction happening to your home."
"We are Gods, we can defend ourselves."
"Oh how I miss being so naïve," she gave him a soft look. He was once more fascinated over the fact that she could say things that would sound as an insult coming from someone else, but from her it just sounded like concern. "Let's not speak about it anymore and tend to the horses instead."
Cara jumped off Dracon before he could answer and took the horse to the stable.
"Loki?" He heard his mother's voice and he went to open the door. The queen entered the room giving him a warm smile and a hug, before she looked for Cara. The blond was sitting in one of the windows, book in hand.
It had been a few days since their ride and she had been quieter than usual. Loki had been worried, mostly that he had made her resist him in some way, which she had assured him that he hadn't. He was unsure if he believed her or not, but she had yet to leave his chamber, so he wanted to trust her.
"Are you alright love?" Frigga asked him and he gave him a wondering look. Had something happened that he was unaware of? "I only ask since I haven't seen you in some time."
"Oh, no I am alright mother," Loki gave her a smile, and became happy knowing that she cared, always did and always would.
"Cara dear?" Frigga's voice made her turn around. "Are you alright as well?"
"I am your Highness," Cara managed to give Frigga a smile. It was still not as genuine as the ones she gave him, but more than towards most.
"I heard what you two did to Heimdall."
"I apologise if I overstepped your Highness," Cara answered, but Frigga only smiled.
"I founded it quite amusing. He visited me, trying to get an answer to if we exist or not. It took me some time to understand it all, but when I did it made me smile. However, I had to tell him that you, Cara, are simply adjusting to it our existence here, and there for very unsure about it all."
"I understand," Cara didn't seemed upset and Loki was pleased by it. Some people became angry when their pranks were ruined. He hadn't thought that Cara would be, and he was pleased to be right.
"Was there a reason for you to visit mother?" Loki wondered.
"Your father asked me to tell you to come to Thor's victory party this evening," Loki resisted the urge to sign.
"What was he victories with?"
"They had a victory in their quest to Niflheim," Frigga answered and Loki nodded. Thor had gone to the realm many times and fought most things there, yet every time he was celebrated. Loki was barely mentioned if he went with them. "Cara are invited as well."
"Thank you My Queen, but I am unsure if it's fitting for me to be among all those Gods."
"Nonsense my dear, you are more than welcome."
Loki could tell that Cara was more than unsure, but he was unaware of the reason for it, however, she nodded in acceptance.
"Then I see you both later," Frigga kissed his cheek before leaving his room.
"I am sorry that you are forced to go there," Loki honestly said, but Cara gave him a small smile.
"Don't be, and who knows I may enjoy myself."
"That is a lie," Loki pointed out which made Cara chuckle to his surprise.
"It is, but I will at least be in your company, so I won't be without interesting conversations, or do you need to be elsewhere?"
"I won't leave your side, I promise," Loki assured her. Not only because he enjoyed her company and wished to speak with someone intelligent and interesting as well, but also because he didn't trust people not to corner her. He was mostly worried about Thor's friend and what they may seek to do if he left her.
"I am glad to hear it. So let's see if have something appropriate to wear when I am going to spend my evening socialising with Gods."
Loki turned towards Cara when she came into the room, and at first he could only blink. Anyone could see that Cara was beautiful, but with the dress she became even more so. The white dress went to half of her thigh and it was low cut. Over it she had a robe in turquoise green and with branches. The arms were in gold as well, just as her neckless and belt. She had a brown boats to it, and she had her hair in a lose bun, but it still appeared classy and as it had taken time.
"You look beautiful," he informed her, unable to do anything else and she gave him a smile.
"Thank you Loki" she walked over to him and took the arm he offered her. "You look great as well."
He glanced at his traditional armour in green and gold. It was the simpler version, one he worn when he needed to look the part of a prince, but not for the whole kingdom.
"It's a traditional royal Asgardian uniform," he informed him and she smiled.
"It fit's you, and I like the colours," he could how she teased him, surprising him but he smiled.
"I am surprised to hear that," he answered as he guided her through the palace.
"Loki," Frigga said when they entered embracing him with a big smile. "You look as handsome as always."
"Mother," he answered trying not to blush.
"You look stunning as well Cara."
"Thank you your Highness."
"Let me introduce you to Odin."
Loki smiled, he hadn't seen his father in a while and he looked forward to it. Odin had been away and just returned, and had been as busy as he always was. His father rarely had time for him, which made him upset, but he normally spent time talking to him when he returned from a trip.
"Odin, love?" Frigga interrupted his father where he was talking to some ambassadors and the man turned around, kissing his mother before she walked over to talk to some friends. "I wanted to introduce one of Loki's friends, Cara."
"Your Highness," Cara bowed to the man. Loki could tell it was well practised but that the gesture meant nothing to her.
Odin observed her and Loki couldn't tell what his father were thinking.
"Pleasure," his father did not meant those words. "So you are the Midgardian who entered my kingdom without permission.
"I apologise for that your Highness."
"At least you keep my youngest company. I hope you offer him everything you have, and accepts whatever he requests," Loki almost stared at his father. He was on the brink of telling Odin that he had misunderstood the situation. Cara wasn't there for his pleasure, but before he could speak Cara answered.
"Of course, I will do everything Loki asks for," he felt that he had lost control of the situation and was unsure of how to get it back. Why did Cara just accept that his father thought she was a prostitute.
"Hm at least you will be of some use, just don't get pregnant, and don't expect to marry him, or anyone else here."
"I promise to do neither of those things your Highness."
"Then you have my permission to be here, and now be on your way," Cara only nodded and walked away. "We will talk about this later!"
Odin left him with those words, baffled as he hurried after Cara, needing to speak with her. He found her on one of the balconies.
"Cara?" She turned towards him and nodded for him to continue. "I apologise for what my father said, I will clear it up with him.
"Don't, I know fully what he said, and that my answers would keep him think of me as a prostitute. But if he believes that he won't attempt to throw me out to God only knows where, and he won't pay me no mind."
"You are my guest, you are allowed to stay here without being seen as a prostitute," Loki assured her and she smiled.
"I don't doubt you, but I also know that as a stronger God he can throw me out without hesitation. Besides what he thinks of me don't concern me. In all honesty, I thought more of the king of Gods."
Loki knew that she was right, Odin had after all thrown out Hel without hesitation, and she was his grandchild, yet it didn't sit right with him! However, he was surprised to hear that she wasn't impressed with his father. Loki wondered why? His father was an amazing man, someone he looked up to and someone's approval he sought after. It was true that he was sadden that Odin couldn't always see or understand him, but he was still impressed by his father.
"Don't think about it Loki, some people you just don't take a liking to. But who knows maybe I will change my mind if I stay her for a longer time."
"I am sure you will," he hoped that was true, that Cara would come to see the person he saw when he looked at his father. "Are you hungry?"
"I am," she accepted the arm he was offering her and they walked inside to eat.
Loki let the wine glass rest between his fingers as he listened to his father praising Thor. The story wasn't something new, it never was. Thor acted in the same way in every fight, rushing in without a plan, hitting everything he could, losing his temper, fighting even harder and winning. Thor had fought the same way for hundreds of years, and sometimes it was just luck that prevented him from be badly damaged.
It was a good thing that Thor was immortal, seeing that he would be dead by now otherwise, just as his friends. They all needed to learn patients, how to plan their attacks and respect of others. He had tried to teach Thor such things for years, but his brother always said there was no need for such things, if one were a mighty warrior. How wrong he was.
Loki feared for what would happen to Asgard when Thor became king. There were still a few months until Thor's coronation, however, Loki doubted that his brother would learn those things before that. He couldn't understand why his father thought Thor was ready, because in his eyes he wasn't. If Thor had listened more to their mother, he would have been.
Loki almost sighed before he applauded with everyone else, as he bit his lips. If there only was a way to postpone the coronation. He knew that asking his father to do so would never work, and his mother would only ensure him that Thor would grow into his new role. He may, or he may make everything worse for the country.
Loki glanced at Cara, wondering if she knew of a way to halter an event such as this. But was it safe to ask her? Maybe she would turn away from him and accepting that he was as bad as everyone thought. He doubted that, but he couldn't be sure. Asking her would be a risk, and he wondered if he was willing to take it?
"You wish to leave?" He asked when Thor's friends started screaming, lifting him up and people walked over. Loki knew that they would continue celebrating the rest of the night in a way he rarely thought of amusing. His parents had already left, always did after the dinner and Odin's speech and he normally did the same.
"Yes please," Cara gave him a smile and they left the hall.
Loki walked over to his desk when they entered his chambers. He was unsure if he should do this or not. Preventing Thor from becoming king would benefit the kingdom, but could he do such a thing towards his brother? Thor had looked forward to becoming king since they were children, and he deserved it, Loki just wished he was ready.
So where there a way he could just postpone it, and not ruin Thor's chances of becoming king? He lifted his gaze when Cara returned from the bathroom, now changed into something more comfortable, and he bit his lip once more. Should he ask her?
"Is something wrong?" She asked and he closed his eyes. He wished to ask her for help, and everything she had done told him that she wouldn't shun him for asking. She may not support him, but she wouldn't think less of him and he decided to risk it.
"Do you know of a way to halter a coronation?"
"I may know a few," she said after a few seconds of silence and with a smile on her lips, as she walked over to his desk, willing to help him.
