Eyes Red as Blood
Fourth Night: Kaname and the Night Class
As they neared the gate that separated the Moon dorms from the rest of the campus, Arisu remembered she left her bag at the Headmasters office. She glanced back and opened her mouth to speak.
"Don't worry about your luggage," Kaname said, turning back to look at her, almost glaring, "I will have someone go get it later."
"Thank you," Arisu replied with a sheepish grin.
"Why did you come here?" Kaname seethed and continued walking at a brisk pace, "You knew that you were supposed to stay hidden."
"I know that, but…" Arisu started as she looked down at the floor and stopped walking.
"Then why did you disobey me?" Kaname stopped walking and turned to fully face her. "It was for your own safety!"
"I... I wanted to see her again," Arisu admitted, finding the courage to look into Kaname's eyes.
His expression softened the slightest, but he was determined not to give in. "Now the council knows about you."
"I have the right to do what I want, no matter what the council says!" It was always about the council with him. The council permits this. The council had prohibited that. Arisu knew that she would never win the argument against Kaname, but she had to try.
"Don't you understand? You're not a kid anymore, Arisu." He was barely keeping his anger under control if his clenched jaw was anything to go by, but Arisu was tired of it. She was tired of being treated like an obedient doll.
"Yes I do understand, brother," she spat at him, bringing her hand to her chest, "I understand that I was kept from the world for more than ten years! And now that I am finally where I want to be, you want me to go back."
"Being kept from the world was mother's idea not mine," Kaname's tone of voice turned harsh.
"No it wasn't! That idea was yours and yours alone," Arisu yelled back.
"You are still an impossible child," Kaname muttered, looking away. The windows in the near by building cracked but didn't shatter.
"Maybe I wouldn't be if you gave me a bit of freedom," Arisu retorted.
"You know exactly why I'm being this way." Kaname was trying to be reasonable, but after hearing she was planning to join the Day class he wouldn't have it."You won't be joining the Day Class."
"Why? The Headmaster seems to have no qualms about it," Arisu pointed an accusing finger at him, "Because you're afraid that I might hurt her? Kaname, you are being unreasonable."
"The only one being unreasonable here is you," Kaname hissed, and the two continued to argue back and forth.
"Has anyone seen, Kaname-sama?" Hanabusa asked when the Night Class stepped out of class. The blond, blue eyed boy put his hands on his head.
"That's why we got out of class, Aido," Ruka replied, slightly irritated. She was worried about Kaname because he hadn't show up to class.
"Guys, relax. I'm sure he is probably fine," Akatski drawled. He, on the other hand, didn't see why his cousin and Ruka were so worried about Kaname.
"Yes, besides he can take care of himself!" Takuma Ichijou interjected, his eyes were shining cheerfully.
Rima Touya and Senri Shiki followed behind sharing a box of pocky, and if they were worried about Kaname they didn't show it. These members of the Night Class walked aimlessly around for a bit before deciding to go back to the dorms.
"Hey, isn't that Kaname?" Rima inquired, pointing in front of them.
"Yeah," Hanabusa replied. There was someone else with him. It was that brunette from earlier! The closer they got to the pair, they were able to hear the unfolding argument. The two were so engrossed in their argument that they didn't notice that the Night Class students were coming. The brunette yelled one last thing at Kaname before she lost control and something went flying towards Kaname's head. Of course, Kaname stopped the attack before it even reached him.
"How dare you do that to Kaname-sama," Ruka yelled furiously at the girl and started to hurry over to Kaname's side.
When the girl turned around, her eyes were glowing red, "How dare you speak to me that way!"
It was as if time stopped. The aristocrats stopped in their tracks, suddenly uneasy. Shock was clearly written on some of their faces. Was this girl actually what they all felt she was?
Arisu realized that she lost control of her temper, and quickly apologized, "I-I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you! Forgive me?"
"No, it is I who should apologize, Miss," Ruka quickly snapped out of her trance to assure the girl in front of her. Before long, things seemed to resolve themselves.
"Uhm, Kaname-sama who is she," Hanabusa finally spoke up from behind Ruka.
"She is my sister, Arisu Kuran," Kaname replied exasperatedly, moving to stand next to Arisu.
"WHAT!"
"Nobody knew about her. You could say she is one of the Kuran secretes."
"I am sorry again," Arisu interrupted, smiling at Ruka and the others, "May I know who you are?"
"I'm Ruka Souen, and I'm deeply sorry for yelling at you, Arisu-sama," said Ruka.
"Don't worry about it! At the time you didn't know who I was. Besides, I like people who can speak their minds," Arisu smiled reassuringly to Ruka before focusing her attention to the others.
"Takuma Ichijou," Takuma said, smiling back.
"I'm Akatski Kain," Akatski spoke next, "Pleased to meet you."
"I'm Rima Touya," Rima was next to introduce herself, she waved at Arisu, seemingly more comfortable than the others.
The next face was more familiar. It was her cousin's face though she had only seen him in pictures. "Hey, I'm Senri Shiki," He too waved at Arisu.
Arisu barely had time to nod when Hanabusa loudly introduced himself.
"Helloo! I'm Hanabusa Aido, but you can call me Idol!" His exuberant tone irritated Kaname. Arisu didn't seem to mind too much.
"I'll keep that in mind, I guess," Arisu replied, a bit weirded out with the odd introduction. She thought it would have been Takuma Ichijou to be the bubbly one considering she had heard stories about his carefree nature.
"Seiren, won't you come out?" Kaname spoke to no one in particular, "There is no one here that can hurt me."
"I know, Kaname-sama, but I must always be at guard." Seiren appeared behind Kaname. "Pleased to meet you, Arisu-sama."
"Hello, Seiren," Arisu replied, amazed by the way Seiren could move about, concealing her presence like a skilled hunter.
They all heard footsteps coming closer, and turned to look down the path.
"Sorry to interrupt, but the Headmaster told me to come look for you," Yuki called out nervously while standing a couple of feet away from the group.
"Thank you, Yuki," Arisu smiled. She curtsied to the vampires and excused herself. "I am pleased to have met you all, until next time. Goodbye, Kaname"
"Goodbye, Arisu, Yuki," Kaname replied as he also turned to leave.
"B-bye, Kaname," Yuki replied, leaving with Arisu in tow.
'Well this will defiantly be interesting,' Arisu thought as she walked with Yuki back to the Headmasters office.
