After the meeting with T'Challa on who Killmonger was and that he wanted an audience with the king directly, Shuri pulled Bucky off to the side in her lab away from everyone else and whispered, "I know you're used to only taking orders your whole life and want freedom and to be away from all of that but I want you to do something for me, okay? You need to stay here and keep an eye on Ross. He is an American spy after all. Don't let him leave this room and don't let him touch anything." She handed him kimoye beads to put on his wrist.

He nodded, understanding her request, and asked, "What should I do if he tries to leave?"

"Injure him bad enough so he can't go anywhere for a while," she replied, "no killing! Remember your goal."

"I can do that," he said seriously.

From across the room, T'Challa said, "Shuri, let's go."

When everyone left, only Bucky and Ross remained. Bucky sat at Shuri's desk and practiced writing the language of Xhosa. He watched and listened as Ross wandered around like a lost puppy through Shuri's lab.

As Ross walked over to him, he asked awkwardly, "So, how long have you been here?" Bucky glanced up at him and kept writing, then looked back down to acknowledge while he did hear him, he didn't want to talk to him. "Seriously, you're going to ignore me now as if we don't know each other?"

Bucky said, "I don't know you."

"You know I could get a call out to the UN right now and have you arrested for everything you've done," Ross said hastily, "no matter what you've told these people you're not an innocent man."

Bucky finally glanced up at him and said in a montone voice, "Why don't you go try to do that then?"

Ross confessed, "I don't have a phone here and I don't know how those bracelet things work." Bucky went back to writing, knowing Ross wasn't going to do anything to him. He got up and walked away from him again. He made his way around the lab and made sure he was out of sight before he tried to walk through a side exit.

Out of nowhere, Bucky's left arm suddenly came across the doorway at chest level as he stood to the left of him. "You're not allowed to leave this room," he said menicingly as he glared at Ross.

"Jesus Christ!" Ross shouted as he backed away, catching his breath, "You scared the life out of me! How did you even get over here so fast without me hearing you coming? God!" He looked over passed the stairway and the ceiling collum, but he couldn't see where Bucky was originally sitting from there.

Bucky motioned toward his feet, where he was wearing the soundproof sneakers Shuri mentioned before. "Vibrainium," he answered.

Ross demanded, "How did you move so fast? I didn't even see you!"

"I can outrun cars on a highway," Bucky answered without changing the expression on his face, "why wouldn't I be able to get over here before you?"

He asked, "What are you going to do if I leave? Kill me like you did with everyone else? Unlike most of your victims, the CIA will notice if I suddenly disappear."

"I'll break both of your legs," Bucky explained slowly and menicingly, "at your joints where it'll take the longest to heal even with vibrainium."

Ross tried to hide his audible and fearful gulp as he walked away in fear. Bucky walked back over to the desk across the room in no rush and continued writing.

After what felt like hours later to Ross, Nakia came in through the same side door Ross tried to escape out of earlier and saw them in Shuri's lab.

She explained sadly and urgently, "King T'Challa is dead. If you don't want to end up the same way you two have to follow me!" She threw both of them blue blankets to wrap around themselves.

Ross glanced back at Bucky, then back at Nakai and studdered, "I don't-I think-my legs-"

"Go!" Bucky commanded impaitently.

Nakia motioned for them to go in front of her while she closed the door behind them.

When they appeared in the forest together far outside of the city, Ramonda said, "I know who this man is, but where did this other man come from? Since when have there been this many white people in Wakanda?"

"This is Dumbass Wolf," Shuri explained, "He knows about Killmonger."

"My name is-" he started.

"It doesn't matter who you are," Ramonda said, "you better not betray us. Nakia, are you sure going to the Jibari is a good idea? Maybe you can eat the fruit instead."

She shook her head and said, "He has an entire army. If I take it, it'll only be me. I wouldn't stand a chance."

They made their way to the mountains and were taken directly to M'Baku by his men. After Ramonda explained how T'Challa has died in ritual combat, M'Baku said how he was the ruler there and they needed to respect him.

"Your Highness," Ross said awkwardly, "the new king-"

As M'Baku and his men interupted with chanting, Bucky whispered to him, "You need to learn when you keep your mouth shut."

"I got that," he said sheepishly, looking down in shame and fear.

M'Baku said, "You cannot talk! One more word and I will feed you to my children."

Bucky gave him a WTF look, seriously wondering if they were cannibals and that's why the Jibari weren't part of the other Wakandans.

"I'm kidding," M'Baku said, "we are vegetarians."

Nakia explained the situation and presented the heart shaped herb to him gracefully and on one knee. Instead, M'Baku stood up.

"Come with me," he said.

M'Baku showed them T'Challa on ice and explained, "He's in a coma, barely clinging to life. A fisherman found him in the river and he brought him to me."

They argued back and forth on what they should do since T'Challa couldn't leave the ice bed and eventually came up with giving him one of the three herbs Nakia saved.

As the ceremony began, Ross looked at Bucky who shook his head as he turned around respectfully. Ross did the same thing.

Bucky looked at M'Baku and said, "You're pescatarians."

M'Baku stared at him. "What did you say to me?" he demanded.

"You're a pescatarian if you eat fish and no other animals," Bucky explained, "not vegetarian."

M'Baku smiled and nodded at him. "Fascinating," he said, he turned to a bodyguard and asked, "Is what he says true?"

"Yes, sir," he answered.

"And you let me use the wrong word this whole time?" he asked, half jokingly, then turned back to Bucky and said, "Thank you." Meanwhile Ross gave Bucky a WTF look.

Back in Shuri's lab, Nakia and her prepped the area for the incoming battle outside. "You two can stay in here," Shuri explained as she gave a headset to Bucky and then tossed one at Ross.

Ross asked, "We're going to stay in here while you're fighting for your country? I don't think so. You need help!"

"You're a capable fighter pilot," Shuri explained, "I've read your file and he is in expert in all sorts of weaponry-don't worry, these blast sonic noises that disable the jets at a distance-you won't kill anyone. I built this fighter jet and designed it American style for you." She got the remote vibrainum ready and handed Ross a bracelet.

"Oh my God," Ross said, "this is insane!" He started climbing into the right seat.

"Over there," Bucky said as he pointed to the other chair, "that's the pilot's seat, this is the weapons control."

"Play nice!" Shuri demanded, "I'll be giving you support from the battle field!"

When they sat in the seats, they could see the entire battlefield and the other fighter jets in the distance, trying to leave Wakanda. Through the headset, Shuri said, "I almost forgot, you see that red button in the center of the dashboard between you two?"

"Yes," Bucky said.

"Push it!" Shuri said excitedly.

Bucky grabbed Ross's arm to stop him and asked, "What does it do?"

"Just push it," she demanded.

Bucky pushed Ross's arm to the side and explained, "I'm not going to touch it if I don't know what it does."

"It plays music," she said.

"Fine," Bucky replied and hit the button. Africa by Toto started playing. "Seriously?" he asked.

Ross asked, "Is this the only song you listen to?"

"It's the only song we play in Africa," Shuri said jokingly. Ross rolled his eyes.

As they were fighting, Bucky would hit the windshield and manually hit the targets with a sonic blast that automattically disabled the fight jets, causing them to crash to the ground. Then the lab shook violently.

"What was that?" Ross asked.

"Get out of there now!" Shuri demanded over the com, "It was a fighter jet on the Border Tribe's side!"

Bucky looked out the window of the lab and saw the fighter jet she was talking about directly outside, charging up to fire at them once again. "I'll take care of that," he said, "weapon controls over to pilot." He shifted everything over to him.

"How are you taking care of that?" Ross asked as Bucky got up, "Where are you going? Hey!"

As Bucky ran off he shouted, "Don't worry about me, Dumbass Wolf!"

"Does no one here remember my real name?" Ross asked in disbelief.

Meanwhile, outside of the lab as the jet continued to fire, Bucky jumped through a window directly above it and landed on the roof of the fighter jet. He bent down and with his left arm he seemlessly ripped the windshield off and stared at the man sitting in the single pilot's seat.

"What in the hell?" he asked, "Who are you?"

Bucky kicked him out of the seat off to the side and said into his com, "Shuri, I stopped the jet from attacking." He looked up the knew the window's integrity was nearly completely gone. Another hit and Ross would be killed.

"That's great!" she said happily, "We're still working on it out here!"

The pilot reached up and hit the weapon's system one last time, firing at the window and blasting Shuri's lab into smitherines. Bucky looked on in shock, knowing Ross was still in there. He angrily bent over and grabbed the man sitting on the ground and threw him out of the fighter jet without thinking.

Bucky watched in horror as the man flew directly into the engine. He saw everything in painful slow motion as he flew in the air including the man's face twist into fear as the entire engine exploded and erupted into orange and red flames. The jet shook violently, throwing Bucky into the seat, and collapsed to the ground. The vibrainium absorbed all of the impact, meaning Bucky was unharmed physically as he realized what he had done.

"What happened?" Shuri asked, "I can't connect with Ross anymore." She paused, waiting for an answer, then said, "White Wolf?" When there was no response she asked, "Bucky? Did I lose connection with you too? Hello!"

"I..." he trailed off, took a deep breath, and said, "I killed them."

"What happened?" she asked.

"They're dead," Bucky sadly whispered, "...because of me."

Bucky sat on his bed in his bedroom in the palace after the fight was over. He couldn't help but look at his metal arm in hatred and disgust. He glanced up and over at the notebook, now back on the desk across the room. He heard Shuri and T'Challa walk up to his door.

"You can come in if you want," he said before they could knock.

T'Challa opened the door and said, "You heard us coming." Bucky didn't move.

Shuri said calmly, "You didn't kill anyone. Those men chose their fates. Everet Ross chose to stay in my lab even under eminent danger and the Border Tribe man chose to go against Wakanda and his king. You had nothing to do with it."

Bucky shook his head as he looked down and said, "I had one goal, remember? I never wanted to kill another human being again, and I can't even do that." He looked up at them pitifully.

"You sound like a man who's made a decision," T'Challa said.

"I don't think it's my place to be here," he said as he turned and looked out the window, "in this palace, in the middle of everything. It's too easy to me to get involved with your politics and problems." He looked back down at his metal arm and added, "I don't want to rely on a fake limb either."

"We can arrange for you to be out there," T'Challa said, "in a village far from here where no one will bother you."

Bucky asked, "You'll let me go? What about no one trusting me and having to be 'babysat?'"

"You fought on my side in battle," he answered, "under the King of Wakanda against an outsider in a land you are brand new to. There is nothing more noble or honorable than that. You are trusted to be yourself now, White Wolf. However, I can tell you that the futher away you are from the capital, the less people are likely to speak English and everyone is a farmer. You'd most likely have to be one too."

Bucky smiled at the thought of that and said, "I can handle that."

Shuri asked, trying to lighten the mood, "My brother here is taking me to California and I've never been before. Do you want to come with us?"

"You can go without me," he replied as he stood up, "I've been there before, I know what I'm not missing." He glanced behind them where the red notebook continued to stare at him from the desk.
