"What is up everybody!" Thomas was starting a video per usual. Everyone was ready to rise up and partake in their roles except Virgil. He couldn't find his hoodie. In a panic, he put on his old one feeling a bit of relief wash over him for only a moment.
Virgil finally appeared.
"Where's the real Virgil, Deceit?" Roman said annoyance laced into his voice. "First the wrong cardigan, then the wrong tie, now Virgil's old hoodie? Sheesh you need to step up your game and know what we wear."
"Wha- I'm confused. Guys it's me I swear" Virgil said in response to Roman's outburst.
"Ugh. Let's just continue because Virgil won't be here anytime soon." Roman said shooting a death glare at Virgil.
Anytime Virgil tried to make a statement, he was brushed off or told to shut up.
"We're really rude to Deceit, even when he's just there or even..." Virgil lost his train of thought.
"Can you just stop lying to us Deceit?!" Patton yelled this time.
"You called?" Deceit said appearing next to Virgil. A confused look appeared across everyone in the room and then realization hit.
Patton was the first to find his voice. "Wait..."
"You weren't impersonated by Deceit?" Roman said interrupting Patton.
"That's what I've been saying for the past ten minutes!" Virgil said angrily and making sure everyone knew. "I couldn't find my hoodie so I threw on this one. That's the only reason why I'm wearing this." He tried to calm himself down.
"We're sorry Virgil." Patton said sounding disappointed in himself.
"Yeah." Roman said agreeingly . He could only bring himself to say that.
"Here's your hoodie by the way." Deceit said holding out his hoodie. Virgil grabbed it and put it on.
Deceit sunk out and left the others to finish the video. Once they finished, they started talking.
"Guys we really treat Deceit badly." Virgil said in a nervous tone. "Anytime he shows face, we act as if he doesn't exist, tell him to be quiet, or just in general treat him badly. Think about it."
The room stayed silent for some time. A look of sadness gradually showed on Patton's face
"I never thought about it that way. Now that I think about it, he doesn't always speak in lies nor is he not one of Thomas's sides. He's just like us. He has a job to do. He does play an important role in Thomas's daily life just like Virgil or even Remus." Patton went on. "It may not be pleasant to think about but we've accepted Remus as intrusive thoughts and as one of Thomas's sides, so why can't we accept Deceit? His job may not be the best but it's just as important as mine or yours Logan."
"You do have a valid argument and solid reasoning. I say you have a point Patton." Logan said.
"I never thought I'd say this... but, we should listen to what he has to say. Why don't we call him in?" Roman said, shocking everyone in the room.
"What do you need this time?" Deceit said after appearing in front of them.
"We all wanted to say sorry." Patton spoke up. "You play as much of a role as Roman, Logan, Remus, Virgil, and me. We never realised it but, you have something to say and it's important to note."
Deceit has a shocked expression and was skeptical at first. "Well, I accept your apology. All I ask of you all is that next time I appear know that it's for a reason."
"We'll make sure of that. Say, why don't you join us for a movie tonight?" Patton said reassuringly.
"Let's invite Remus too!" Roman said. "We'll watch a movie all together. What do you say, Deceit?"
"Ernest. My name is Ernest." Deceit finally said.
"Oh! Well, Ernest, what do you say?" Patton said eagerly .
Ernest and Remus joined the others and for the first time ever, Deceit felt accepted for who he was and what he contributed.
