Nighttime at the Seville house. All was quiet now, with the day's casual events winding down in no time. The Chipettes were fast asleep, each in their respective nests. The boys, though…
Alvin pushed his way through the back door's doggy door, wasting no time as he scampered down towards the hallway, claws scraping and clicking on the wooden floor. "Simon? Siiiimon? Where are you?" He called out, eyes wide as he rushed into the living room. All he saw was Eleanor fast asleep on the couch.
With a huff, he turned away, running down the next hall towards their shared bedroom. Though, couldn't stop himself in time, running right into the door with a grunt.
The impact didn't daze him, though. Alvin quickly launched himself upwards, pushing the door handle down and open so he could peek in the room. "Simon!" He called. Still no answer. He grumbled, rushing his way over to Simon's bed. "Simon I really, really need you to not be asleep right now!"
From the head of the bed, an audible groan got Alvin to relax a little. Simon started to rise up from his pillow, eyes narrowed as he tried to focus. "Wh… what… Alvin, what time is it…?"
"Simon!" Alvin crawled over to his side, retrieving Simon's glasses and putting them on his face. "You gotta hurry, man! It's Theodore, he's asking weird questions, I don't have the answer, and he looked like he was gonna break down or something!" Alvin blurted out, all the while tugging Simon up to his feet. "I think he's second guessing this whole thing!"
That was all Simon needed to hear. His eyes widened some, and he nodded. "Okay, alright, just… let's just go see what's happening before we jump to conclusions, okay?" Simon put his paw on top of Alvin's, looking his older brother right in the eyes.
Steadily, Alvin started to calm down, but that determination never left his stare. "He's on the roof." He said.
Theodore stared out towards the horizon from his perch. Holding on to his tail tightly, he rocked back and forth slightly, his toe claws gripping at the shingles beneath him. It'd been a while since he last blinked, and his fur was all standing on end until it looked a spiky mess.
He almost didn't even register the grunts behind him, nor the quickly approaching footsteps.
"Hey! Hey, Theo! I got Simon here an- Whooaa!" Alvin yelped, nearly skittering right off the roof in his rush, though Simon managed to catch him by the tail and pull him back. "Hooh… thanks Si. Anyway, Theo, he's here now so you can-"
"When do we leave?" Theodore interrupted. He was looking between both of his brothers, waiting for an answer. "How long do we have left?"
"Wh… Theodore, why would we leave?" Simon asked, taken aback by the question. He moved over to Theo's side, sitting down and gesturing for him to do the same.
Gripping his tail tighter, Theodore plopped down in place. "Well…. mom and dad left us after just a week. A-And Dave tried to leave us once. Everyone I saw as a parent left us to some degree, and now we're gonna be parents…" he spoke, the words flowing out nonstop. "If it's natural to leave, then we have to as well right? So I wanna know when we have to so I-"
He trailed off. Anything else he said came out as a weak, quiet whimper, and he started wiping his eyes. "Guys… I don't wanna leave… I don't wanna leave Eleanor, or Dave, or any of the kids, or any of you guys! We always do everything together, so I don't wanna be alone…"
Alvin and Simon traded glances. Alvin shrugged, but Simon just cleared his throat, taking a few steps towards his little brother. "Theo, listen…" Simon sat down next to Theodore, pulling the smaller munk into a hug. He gestured for Alvin to do the same. "What mom and dad did doesn't mean we have to do the same. We always do things differently, don't we?" He asked, gently raising Theodore's head to look him in the eyes. "Look at everything we've done over the years. That's nothing like what they did."
"Yeah, he's right! We're in this together, no matter what!" Alvin chimed in as he sat at Theodore's other side. "We found a real dad in Dave! We became world famous! We survived high school and an exploding island!" He gave Theodore a gentle push, offering him a smile. "And hey, look at what you've done. You've faced all your fears, you're probably the best dancer out of all of us, girls all around want to be with you and-" Alvin paused, his smile getting wider now.
Theodore squeaked, almost hopping from his spot. Alvin had grabbed his butt. "H-Hey! What was that for?"
"Speaking of girls, look at what you were able to do with Eleanor~. Bet mom OR dad woulda never been able to teach you that! Much less do it with you." Alvin said. You don't gotta worry about a thing, Theo. After all that, there's noooo way we're gonna split up. Matter of fact… you just reminded me something~"
"Alvin, what are you getting at?" Simon butted in, having watched Alvin's paw. "We were supposed to make him feel better, remember?"
"Yeah… and I wanna thank you guys for that." Theodore said softly, looking between his brothers as he brushed Alvin's paw off his rear. "But uh… how did I remind you of anything?" He asked as he focused on Alvin.
With an idle hum, Alvin started walking around the roof, heading towards the front side. "Just follow me. I don't want us to accidentally wake up Brittany."
Simon and Theodore traded glances, then followed after him. "And what do you have in mind, Alvin…?" Simon asked. Alvin, however, stayed quiet until he got to his preferred spot, giving his butt a little shake before he jumped off of the roof, landing on a nearby tree branch, rushing down to the ground and to their front porch.
Alvin hopped onto their bench, settling down on it with a content sigh. Simon made it there next, followed closely behind by Theodore. They took their spots next to them, and Alvin cleared his throats. "We're all partners. And I know that there's one thing that almost always makes me feel better when I'm down. Something tells me you two will like it~"
