So this literally popped into my head just now, enjoy.
Warning: This turned out to be a Jaya fic, it wasn't intended to be but y'all know how it goes...
It had started out as a perfect day.
Jay had taken Nya to Skylor's restaurant, and nothing whatsoever had ruined their day. But as they were walking back to where Nya had left the mech they came in, caught up in their conversation, they unwittingly walked across the road outside the crosswalk. Jay turned beet red when a police officer shouted, "Hey you two! Yeah, you in the blue and you in the red! You just walked across the street."
Nya tried to apologize, but the officer wasn't having it. He pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. "Names, please."
Nya spoke first, since Jay seemed to have suddenly lost his voice for once. "Nya Smith."
The officer scribbled it down, then turned to Jay. "Name, please." Jay opened his mouth to answer, "J-j-jay Walker." The officer froze, his pen hovering over the paper. "What?"
Jay began to panic. Had he said something wrong? Would he be arrested? And just when the date had been going so smoothly...
"I said, what did you say?" The officer was becoming impatient now, tapping his foot and frowning. Nya suddenly doubled over, laughing, as she realized the situation.
"His name is Jay Walker, sir," she said, barely able to control herself. "We're both ninja. Recognize us now?"
The officer paled as he realized he had been about to arrest two of the ninja who had saved his city time and time again. He blurted out, "Yes, yes, I recognize you now. I couldn't tell without your, uh, costumes...er, uniforms? Anyway, sorry for the delay. You can go now." He seemed ill at ease now.
Nya grinned and steered Jay away from him, walking back to the mech. For once, Jay was silent as they headed back to the monastery.
When they got home, Zane was cleaning up from dinner. "How did your day go?" he asked. Nya began to laugh again, while Jay moaned, "I don't wanna talk about it..."
