It had been 3 months since Storm had been back at the Institute. And because of the constant work to keep the peace and join T'Challa in diplomatic meetings, she could hardly think about the people she called family. Sometimes she wondered what they were doing on that side of the world, but not long after she would fall asleep and do it all again some hours later.

Before now, Storm hadn't lived in Africa for some years. But when she crossed back into the borders, she felt a breath she didn't know she had been holding, release. This was one of her homes, and she felt it when going into the city. She knew that once someone was made queen, they would always be queen, but this was the first time she experienced it. The reverence and love they had for her went beyond a failed marriage.

The next morning, she woke up with the sun as usual. She wanted to take in the view outside her window and appreciate it for the first time in a month. She hated the thought that before living here, she had never been to this remote part of the kingdom. She lived mostly in the palace, with T'Challa, of course. Upon returning, he offered her old spare bedroom back, to which she could not accept. Something inside her told her that it didn't feel right. T'Challa understood and complied, but he didn't like it. Respecting her wishes, he gave her a nice cabin in the hills near the border. It overlooked a field of wildflowers that she loved to admire when she found the time. She was so thankful that he was so accommodating. His only compromise was that guards be stationed nearby just in case he needed her. Yes, she was thankful, but she also felt for him because she knew he still loved her. She had love for him to, but this was a different, changed love.

After taking in the view and not liking that her thinking was stuck on T'Challa, she decided to leave for the palace. She opened the door to find a single flower attached to a folded piece of paper labeled ''Ro'.

She gasped, putting her hand over her heart and picking up the letter, She knew it was from her Logan, and it almost brought tears to her eyes. She closed the door, and curled up in her chair.

Hey Ro.

It's been many years since I've had to write a letter to anyone, and these days it never seems necessary. It does now. I know you are risking your reputation and your life most days. It can't be easy. But know that everyone here is proud of you.

Also wanted to tell you that the girls are taking good care of the greenhouse, Jubilee especially. She was excited just to be allowed near it, honestly.

I went in by myself yesterday to see if your scent was still there. I couldn't find it at first because of all the foot traffic from these last few months. It took a couple minutes before I found them on the box of Madrone seeds we've yet to plant. They smell like home. You smell like home.

Really, I'm writing because I've been thinking about you a lot recently. Recently meaning since you left and a lot meaning every second of every day. If you can write back, I want to know everything that's happened to you. I hope to see you before you can write back, though.

I can't visit you, as you know, but if there's anything I can do for you, let me know.

Yours.

P.S. Thank T'Challa for helping me get this to you.

Storm closed her eyes and tried to keep from crying. She held the letter close to her heart and tried to imagine what Logan did to write and send this off. He actually took the time to sit and write her. He stayed at the Institute to look after her greenhouse, or at least to supervise the girls. She smiled at the thought. They were obsessed with him, and he secretly had a soft spot for them.

The honesty and emotion in his letter was all the motivation she needed to do everything in her power to end the fighting peacefully and quickly. She had to get back to her family. But first, she needed to thank T'Challa.

After another month of negotiating, everything was settled. Deals were cut, treaties were signed, and Ororo could leave. She would miss Wakanda and T'Challa's companionship, but the Institute was where she needed to be. 'And with Logan', she added mentally.
