The Ultimate Detective and The Ultimate Hope Gaiden: Kiki Meets Genocide Jill

Chapter One: Uncle Hiro and Aunt Toko visit! Makoto's Bad Luck?

"I'll get it!"

A three-year-old girl with brown hair and a lavender ahoge went to answer the doorbell, her bare feet gracefully sliding across the smooth, wooden floor as if she were ice-skating, skillfully coming to a stop as she opened the front door, her eyes sparkled as she saw who was on the other side.

"Aunt Toko! Uncle Hiro!"

Kiki ran up and hugged her Aunt around her legs. Toko merely awkwardly smiled, still not used to Kiki's affection even after three years of knowing her. Hiro on the other hand kneeled down and hugged his niece, much more open about his affection for her.

"Hey Kiki! Uncle Hiro's got a surprise for you!"

Kiki's eyes sparked as she exclaimed "Really? What is it?"

Hiro enthusiastically removed a slip of paper from his coat pocket and explained excitedly "It's a coupon for a free fortune from yours truly!"

As Hiro pointed to himself with an excited grin, Kiki's smile devolved into a neutral frown, her green and purple eyes giving him the same blank stare that she had inherited from her mother.

"Mommy says never to go near your fortunes with a thirty nine and a half-foot pole."

"Aww, come on, Kiki!" Hiro begged, as eh tried to entice her. "It'll be our little secret!"

Cocking her head to the side in confusion, Kiki replied "But Mommy and I never keep secrets from each other!"

She suddenly felt her hair being ruffled as they heard a familiar feminine voice praise softly "That's my girl!" Kyoko smiled at her daughter before turning her glare to Hiro and lecturing "Besides Hiro, I said ever since Kiki was a baby, NO FORTUNES. I don't want her to wind up tricked into owing some obscene debt before she's even seen her first paycheck."

Pouting, Hiro objected "Hey, come on! My cheapskate days are totally behind me now, I swear! My fortune telling is an honest side-business; I've even reduced my rates to much more reasonable prices and offered freebies to my friends and family on occasion!"

At last, Toko cleared her throat and offered "While I personally don't put any stock into the accuracy of my idiot husband's fortunes…"

"Hey! Tokie!"

Rolling her eyes, Toko continued "He has actually cleaned up his act. He's honest with his customers about his accuracy and prices, and as far as harmless entertainment goes, they're not the worst thing in the world."

Husband…I'm not sure I'll ever get used to hearing that…Makoto thought as he walked into the room to stand next to his wife and daughter.

After Byakuya and Hina accidentally revealed they were dating, Toko fell into a brief spell of depression at seeing her Master officially choose another woman. Taking pity on her, Hiro tried his hand at trying to comfort her. Although she at first rebuffed his attempts at companionship, his assurances that he knew how she felt as one of the more ostracized members of their class due to his checkered past ended up wearing down her walls.

The two social outcasts ended up hitting it off, hanging out regularly where Toko would help Hiro write better fortunes while Hiro would help her to smile more naturally and less creepily. Eventually this close companionship turned into a dating relationship, and not long after Hina tied the knot with Byakuya and became Mrs. Aoi Togami (she still insisted on being called Hina), Hiro proposed to Toko and she became Mrs. Toko Hagakure. To show how far they had moved on from their prior feud over the former Ultimate Affluent Progeny, the two women even decided to be the bridesmaids at each other's weddings.

…Though that didn't stop the newly weds from bickering with each other, evident when Toko objected "And quit calling me Tokie! You know I hate that!"

Hiro scoffed and teased "No you don't! I've seen you blush whenever I call you that, so I know you like it!"

As Hiro continued to chuckle, Toko's cheeks flushed as she objected "Those are blushes of embarrassment, not affection!"

As the Naegi parents smiled amusedly at the bantering couple, the argument was interrupted by a rather loud, rumbling growl. All eyes turned to the youngest in the room, who smiled sheepishly.

Makoto chuckled while Kyoko barely held back a giggle, her daughter's cheeks turning pink in embarrassment.

Makoto kneeled next to his daughter, rubbing her belly through the forest green dress she was wearing as he teased "Sound's like somebody's tummy is hungry!"

"DADDY!"

Giggling, Kyoko nudged her daughter towards the hallway and urged "Come on, Kiki; let's head to the dining room and we can start on dinner." Addressing the Hagakures, Kyoko acquiesced "…Makoto and I will discuss things later. For the meantime though, put the fortune away."

Cracking a smile at gaining at least the promise of Kyoko's reconsideration, Hiro took what little victory he could scrounge up and obeyed, replacing the fortune in his pocket as he and the others followed Kyoko and Kiki to the dining room to start dinner.

It wasn't long until everyone was settled around the dinner table, eating a delicious home-cooked meal of onigiri, pork tenderloin, carrots, chicken, mushrooms, and miso soup.

Hiro groaned in contentment as he addressed Makoto, who was still dressed in his cooking apron "Makoto, dude, you're cooking is for serious! Hey, Kyoko, wanna trade spouses for a week? I've gotta get me some of your husband's cooking!"

Shaking her head in amusement, Kyoko replied "No can do, Hiro. You can't have my Ultimate Chef."

Better not let Hanamura hear you call me that, honey, or he'll pout for weeks!

Makoto stayed silent, blushing as Kiki chimed in "Yeah, Uncle Hiro! You can't have Daddy! 'Cuz he's my Ultimate Daddy!"

Makoto leaned to his left to kiss his daughter's cheek, cooing "Aww, thanks, Kiki! That really means a lot."

As Kiki giggled at her Father, Hiro took another bite of meat, swallowing it before asking "Yo, Makoto? Could you pass me the pepper there, dude?"

"Of course, Hiro."

And that was when Makoto's infamous bad luck kicked in; reaching for the pepper shaker, Makoto's grip fumbled and caused the top of the shaker to unscrew, unleashing a small cloud of pepper particles that flew towards Toko, causing the former Ultimate Writing Prodigy to sneeze.

*Ah-choo!*

Time froze, the sound of her sneeze reverberating as the three other adults in the room collectively processed what had just happened

Oh, shit!

As expected, long, wavy, neat purple hair immediately became erect, sticking out in every direction. Soft, grey eyes suddenly turned red, and a long, slithering tongue suddenly slithered out. Toko Hagakure had officially left the building, leaving in her place the former Ultimate Murderous Fiend, Genocide Jack.

"A…Aunt…T…Toko?"

Kiki's nervous stutter unfroze Makoto and Kyoko from their stunned state, both parents' eyes laser-focused on their daughter as Makoto panicked Oh crap! Kiki's only met Toko; she's never seen Jill before!

Before either of them could think to whisk Kiki away, Jill narrowed her eyes at the young girl, equal parts disgusted and curious as she retorted "Ugh! I've said it a bazillion times by now, Toko is not my name! Toko is a loser's name! Who are you anyway, shrimp?"

As Jill started to walk closer, Hiro tried to reason with his wife's split personality "Now Jill, c…calm down. You're sc…scaring her…"

Hiro soon found himself at scissor-point as Jill threatened "Don't interrupt me, Hiro the Scrooge! Can't you see I'm trying to figure out who this little brat is?"

As she continued to hold her scissors at Hiro's throat, she continued to look over Kiki one more time, her eyes lighting up in epiphany as she took in Kiki's brown hair, purple ahoge, green and purple eyes, and familiar braid.

"Oh, now I remember! You're Naegi Jr." Jill turned her gaze away from the trembling Kiki, turning to her parents as she complimented "Hey, Big Mac! Stoic Nancy! Quite the cute kid you made over there! Tell me, have any boys tried to get close to her yet? Have any of them broken her heart? Does she need me to snip-snip-snip them away?"

Hearing Jill's cackle made Kyoko's maternal instincts kick into action; quickly dashing between Jill and her daughter, ordering her husband as she stood protectively "Makoto, take Kiki and give her a bath for tonight. I'll come and join you for story time after Hiro and I deal with Toko. Kiki." Kyoko's voice hardened, making clear that there was to be no argument from her daughter as she finished "You do whatever your Father tells you to, understood?"

Still shivering in fear as Makoto picked her up and cradled her protectively in his arms, Kiki gulped and obeyed "Yes, Mommy."

"Alright, Kiki, let's go!"

Makoto finished as he ran down the hallway with Kiki, trusting his wife to handle the situation as he tried to go about preparing for Kiki's bedtime as normally as was possible.

Makoto had just finished giving Kiki her bath, both now dressed in a set of their signature footie-hoodie pajamas. Her brown and lavender was still damp as they made their way to Kiki's room to begin story time. As Makoto removed one arm from her to open the door, they were greeted to the sight of Kyoko, already dressed in a lavender nightgown and sitting on the bed with a stack of colorful books next to her.

Kiki squealed and wriggled in her father's grasp, making him chuckle as she reached for her mother and called out "Mommy!"

Smiling widely, Kyoko reached for her daughter as Makoto brought her closer, enveloping her in a loving, motherly embrace as Kiki nestled her head against her breast while sitting in her lap.

Stroking her daughter's hair, Kyoko cooed "Hey, Kiki! It's okay, Kiki. Mommy's here…Mommy's right here, Kiki."

Getting up on the bed and edging next to his wife, Makoto asked "So…everything went alright with…"

Nodding, Kyoko assured them "Yes, Hiro and I handled the situation and he took Toko home."

Looking up at her mother worriedly, Kiki asked "So…is Aunt Toko going to be…"

Nodding in assurance, Makoto answered "Yes, sweetie. Aunt Toko was just feeling sick, so Mommy helped to calm her down so that Uncle Hiro could take her home until she gets better."

Her eyes sparkling with adoration, Kiki praised "Wow! You're so strong, Mommy!"

As Makoto nodded in agreement, Kyoko gave a blushing smile before waving off "All right, all right. Now, it's story time and then straight to bed, young lady. I think we've all had enough excitement for one day. Now, which story to you want to pick for tonight?"

Sifting through the pile next to her, Kiki's eyes sparkled as she picked up a book, holding it in her arms as she begged "Ooh! Cinderelly, Cinderelly!"

Chuckling, Makoto answered "All right, Cinderelly it is."

Makoto then wrapped his arms around his daughter, turning her around and pulling her until she was sitting on both of their laps, one foot settled on Makoto's right knee while another was settled on Kyoko's left. Kiki leaned back into both of their shoulders as she held the book in front of them for all three to see.

Ever since Kiki got her own room, Kyoko had made it a point to include story time with their daughter every night before bedtime, without fail. Just like tonight, Kiki would be nestled on both of their laps, the blankets drawn up to their torsos just as Makoto was in the process of doing right now, and the two parents would, at Kyoko's suggestion, alternate reading pages from the book as a way to ensure that Kiki didn't feel neglected by either parent, and would know that both her mother and her father loved them both equally.

With the three of them nestled in the bed like every other night, Kyoko picked up the remaining books and put them on the floor next to her side. Makoto looked to the first page, beginning to read.

"Once upon a time…"

"And Cinderella married the Prince, moving into the castle away from her evil stepmother and wicked stepsisters, and they lived happily ever after. The End."

Kyoko finished, the husband and wife gently easing the book from Kiki's grasp before closing the book, Kyoko gently tossing it onto the pile on the floor as they looked down at their daughter. Kiki's eyelids were almost shut, her mouth forcefully letting out rather loud yawns, indicative of how tired she was. Smiling to each other, Makoto gently eased off of the bed while Kyoko held Kiki in her arms. Once Makoto had gotten off of the bed, Kyoko gently repositioned her daughter until she was lying down, her head nestled on one of the fluffy pillows.

Both parents standing on opposite sides, they gently drew the blankets up to cover Kiki, only her soft, baby-faced head peeking out. They then leaned down to kiss her cheeks.

"Sweet dreams, Kiki. We love you."

Yawning, Kiki moaned "…Love you too, Mommy. Love you too, Daddy."

Once Kiki settled into slumber, Makoto and Kyoko smiled at each other, with Makoto wrapping an arm around his wife as he urged "Come on; let's go to bed too."

He then nudged her towards the door, both of them exiting the room, Kyoko closing the door behind her so that the two parents could go to bed.
