Hi friends, here's the next chapter. A very important note, in this story, Katerina Petrova and Katherine Pierce are two different people. And I mentioned Emily Bennett as Emily Benedict, since in this story, the Mikaelsons were looking over the Bennett family. So, there is no way that a Bennett worked for a vampire other than the Originals.

As usual, I do not own anything regarding Vampire Diaries, except for the OCs.

Enjoy...

Damon was nursing a well deserved glass of bourbon after his recent quarrel with his siblings. It was customary for him to drink the particular drink after venting his frustrations on his siblings. Stefan for his part let him have his way, no wonder after a century and a half. But the most unexpected was Caroline. She just returned from meeting Erika, grumbling and Damon picked the worst time to start the bickering.

Suffice it to say, he ended up with a long wooden stick in his stomach, which narrowly missed his heart. If not for Stefan, Caroline would have killed him for sure. He spent the entire night replaying the scene that occurred in their living room. The series of questions with why, how and what circled through his head. But he knew that the only person who could give the answers was still sleeping upstairs in her room.

While waiting for his dear little sister, Damon thought back to the year 1864, the year that changed a lot of things for them in their life.

1864

Salvatore manor, Mystic Falls.

The massive manor of the Salvatores was grieving to say the least. The staffs were wearing a sad forlorn look on their faces. The elder Mr. Salvatore has locked himself in his study for the past week. The eldest son of the manor, Mr. Damon has taken it upon himself to overlook all the business while the youngest children of the manor, Mr. Stefan and Miss Caroline were overseeing the manor. The manor has been emitting sadness for the past week. Precisely since the terrible accident of the lady of the manor, Mrs. Elizabeth Salvatore.

Though Elizabeth was step mother to the boys, she had always treated them like her own. When their mother died in child birth after Stefan was born, the boys were lost. They knew nothing of what to do. In the same manner, after his wife's funeral, Giuseppe locked himself in his study for months, only letting himself out for a bottle of brandy and a shower. The task of taking care of the new born fell upon the four years old Damon and their housekeeper.

The housekeeper, Mrs. Cartwell made sure that the two boys were fed and changed, she had no time to sit with them. So the four years old toddler took it upon himself to sit near his brother's crib and said all the stories that their mother has ever told him to his brother in his best four year old voice and vocabulary. Suffice it to say, the first two years of Stefan's life only revolved around his elder brother, who was far too intelligent to his age, while their father buried himself in his business. A week attempt to forget his deceased wife.

Fortunately for them, the Lockwood ball came. Giuseppe must attend the ball, even if it was only for business matters. It was there he met the youngest daughter of the Lockwood family, Miss Elizabeth. Elizabeth was smitten with him from the moment she saw him in the ball. The following days, Elizabeth started spending more time in the Salvatore manor. She had the boys wrapped around her fingers, in a good manner of course.

It took the man more than six months to at least look her way. It wasn't long before they both fell in love and he asked her to marry him. It was precisely a year and a half after the day of the ball that they married in a very private ceremony. Not everyone was happy with their marriage. Especially, the bride's brothers, cousins and uncles. But Elizabeth earned the support of her parents and her aunts. A year later the little angel Caroline was born.

Now, about sixteen years later, the mother of three children passed on to the different world. It was that terrible carriage incident was the one that left their father in his study. No one dared to enter the study than the three children. Giuseppe only listened to his princes and princess.

That afternoon they had a guest arrived at their manor. She was a beautiful woman named Miss Katherine Pierce, with her maid Emily Benedict. She soon had the three children under her foot as if they were her slaves.

Two days later, Elizabeth has warned her husband of an evil surrounding their children via his dream.

Two hours later, Giuseppe Salvatore released himself from his study to save his children.

Ten days and careful planning later, the Salvatore children were sent to a nearby town for their safety. After they left Katherine Pierce was caught by the locals and was burned in the stakes.

Two hours later, a gang of burglars stopped the Salvatore carriage and after a terrible fight the three children were shot.

Three minutes later, the Salvatore children were dead.

Six hours later, they woke up as vampires and found themselves helped by Katherine's maid, Emily.

One hour later, their family ring was spelled as daylight ring.

Two days later, their father found out about their secret.

Three minutes later they fled the town.

Damon smirked. Yes, that was how they left the town. He could still remember their first kill. It was a woman bleeding in the woods. She was dying.

An hour later they woke up, the siblings left the clearing from the centre of the woods. The fastest way to reach the town was via woods. After they woke up, they remembered everything that happened after Katherine came to their home. She had obviously compelled them to do things that they were not ready to do.

She had compelled Caroline into being her friend. She compelled the boys into loving her. She made Caroline do things that she wouldn't have done in her right mind. They were confused when they woke up. They remembered getting shot. They remembered closing their eyes to the darkness.

Only then did Emily confess that Katherine had slipped some blood in their tea that they took before they left the town. Even then they didn't understand. Emily sat them down and told them about vampires, witches, Katherine, blood and everything. They ended up panicking, what with the heightened emotions and all.

So, they left once their daylight rings were made. When they were crossing the woods, they could smell the delicious smell that made their throat burn and fangs elongate. Their legs took them in the direction before their mind could stop. They were ruled by their thirst. Their mind and heart were completely closed to the surrounding.

There they saw her, a young woman, beaten to half death. They wanted to help her. But the blood flowing from her hands, legs and head wouldn't let them. Putting aside their sympathy, they buried their fangs in her smooth skin and drank. When they finished, they didn't see any resentment in her eyes. No anger, no disgust, no fear. They only saw gratitude.

Yes, the woman took her last breath with gratitude in her eyes, for relieving her from the pain.

Once they fled the town they came across the man who beat the woman to half death in a tavern. To sum it up, they killed him. Literally, tore him to pieces.

Damon could hear footsteps. Caroline woke up and was coming down the stairs. Seconds later, she walked straight to the bar and took the glass that has been waiting for her.

"How are you?" she asked, taking a sip of bourbon.

"After you buried the pole in my stomach last night? Fantastic" Damon said, half sarcastically half seriously.

Caroline smirked, "Good"

Damon looked at her, "So, how was the outing with the wolf girl?"

Caroline looked at him and took a sip, "Fantastic" she said.

"That bad, huh?" Damon smirked as her filled his glass again. "Thought you'd hit it with her"

"Oh, we hit it alright. But, you will feel the same, if you turned into a wolf for the first time. It was so damn painful" she whined.

Damon opened his mouth to say something, but just then Stefan walked in. His face was grim. "From Mayor Lockwood. He wants to meet us and the Mikaelsons for dinner"

"When?" Damon asked.

"Tonight" Stefan said.

Damon turned to Caroline and said, "Seems we are going to meet the other side of your family, sis"

Caroline huffed.
