Katerina was surprisingly the first one to get ready for the dinner with the Mayor. Normally she was the last one to grace the group, but that evening as she entered the drawing room, where the family usually gathered, she was surprised to see that she was the first person to get ready. She wondered where Elijah was, who left their room fifteen minutes earlier. She was doing her at most to not give in to the nervousness that was building up inside her every minute. It's not like the first time they were going to meet wolves. But something about the wolves of the Mystic Falls pack was giving her creeps.

And Katerina was always right when she feels that way.

With a decisive nod, she made a mental note to warn Nik about her unease. He and Erika would deal with the wolves as they see fit. With a heavy sigh she resumed her pacing. Was it her or her family really ended up being amazingly lazy today?

She was going to pull everyone by ear through the front door, if they make her wait more than ten minutes. But her inner turmoil was put to ease when Nik walked into the drawing room. "Thank God, Nik. I was hoping to talk to you before we left to the ill fated dinner"

Nik chuckled and asked, as he tucked the black blazer tighter, "What has you so worried, Katerina?"

Katerina huffed, "Everything about this pack is making me worried. We don't know anything about them, Nik. As the Superior Alpha, you should have known about them. But we don't know a thing about them. And they have managed to not come under our radar for a thousand years now. Not just that, they might not even know about you and Erika. If that was the case we should keep it that way, at least until we know of their intentions. Besides, shouldn't you be the alpha of this pack, seeing as they are in your territory?"

Nik shook his head and said, "That was what I am wondering as well, Katerina. Something about this pack is not adding up. And besides, as you know I have no borders, seeing as all the packs answer to me."

Katerina rolled her eyes at his smirking face, "No need to boast your ego, jackass. What I am saying is that, Mystic Falls was the base of your Father's pack. That means, the pack that is in this particular area can have only one alpha. And that is you. Or have you forgotten that since it's been millennia since you saw this place?"

"She's right, Nik", Erika said as she entered the drawing room with her stunning navy blue dress. "We should dig as much as we can about this pack before we let them know who we are. The only thing we are going to question them about is that how come someone else is in your place in our territory."

And so the discussion continued as the remaining family poured in the drawing room. And the discussion continues as they climbed into the two SUVs that were waiting for them. Nik slid into the driver seat of the first car, with Elijah in the passenger seat. Erika and Katerina took the middle seat. Bonnie and Marcellus took the back seat. Kol, Finn, Sage, Nadia, Rebekah and Davina followed in the second car.

The discussion continued as it was with Kol's mobile on the speaker as well as Damon's. They at last decided that they were going to be very careful about what they were going to do or say. They didn't know anything about this pack, so they have to be very cautious around these people.

Within minutes they reached the Lockwood Mansion, where the Mayor and Mrs Lockwood greeted them at the front door. And the rest of the pack in the foyer.

Seriously, how big is this pack?!

Dinner was a very tense event, with the entire seven courses, the Vampires kept their eyes, ears and nose open. They made small talk, very careful not to touch the subject at hand. As soon as the dinner ended, they moved to the drawing room, where the two groups maintained the distance between them. Over the glasses of Brandy and Whiskey, Niklaus tried to study the pack. But surprisingly, the wolves gave only a cursory glance over the vampires. Their focus was entirely on Caroline, who was trying her utmost to appear unaffected. Only a trained eye can pick up her finger twitching and knees knocking a bit tighter.

If Damon's stiffened shoulders and Stefan's frown are any indication, they were not at amused by the way the wolves were appraising their baby sister.

Niklaus decided to end the Salvatore's misery and said to the Mayor, "Thank you for the wonderful dinner, Mayor Lockwood. We look forward to have an official meeting with you. Now, if you will excuse us," and with a nod, the Mikaelsons and Salvatores left the Lockwood and straight to Mikaelson manor. They have a lot to discuss.

Once they reached the manor, they filed into the drawing room. They were so exhausted that they didn't even realise that they were settling without any decorum. Erika went straight to the mini bar and took out bottles of brandy, whiskey, bourbon and every strong alcohol present. With a bottle of alcohol each, they settled.

"Now," Elijah began, "the reason we are here, is that to discuss the local pack. They give a very bad feeling"

"Yes, the aura surrounding them is so dark. We must dread so carefully" Bonnie Bennett, the resident witch said. "And they seem to be very focused on Caroline. I think it is best if you three moved in here. The Manor is in the outskirts of the town, that we don't have run into the members of the pack"

"You three can stay here tonight," Niklaus said, "We shall discuss everything tomorrow morning. When we are sober"
