Chapter 3
Present Day
It was a early afternoon in the city, as Shane walked to the gates people could be seen going about their daily lives .He stood out in the crowd of people as he stood almost a foot taller then everyone eles around him standing at six foot ten. As Shane neared the gate a gaurd halted him to see his I.D with going throught this routin on a daily basis he already had it out and ready. The gaurd gave a quick look at the I.D and let him through
Shane had just got done shopping for some food and drink for his friends, surley by now they would be done training in the one of the camps outside of the city. Shane made his way to the camp catching a glimps of his friends gathered around in a circle talking
"Well if it isn't the slacker himself" Iasonas joked a person whom hes known for his whole life now. Shane laughted at his joke as he tossed him and the others a plastic wrapped pre-made sandwich and a water
"You're lucky I got you anything at all Iasonas" he japed back. As everyone digged in to the food Shane brought his good buddy Daniil gave him a poke in the side
"Heads up Shane, during training I could hear the vetern soldiers whispering" he said
Shane lifted an eyebrow and gave him a nod to continue
"Well this could all just be a nasty rumor but, I heard talk of the king sending someone out of country" at this point he had everyones attention
"But, again this could all be a nasty rumor they said he was contacted by a very powerful man in Vale, the headmaster of Beacon of all people"
"But what does this all mean Daniil?" Shane asked now fully focused on Daniil
"Shane" he starts slowly "There was talk of someone being sent to Beacon to become a huntsman there, some sort of political stunt if you has me, but Shane" he stops
"What Daniil don't stop now tell me everything"
"The rumored person was said to be you"
Shane stops for a moment and just looks at Daniil. There was no way he heard this talk from just a group of vetern soldiers that for sure, but that dosn't really matter now. What matters is finding out why the king is sending someone the Beacon academy
"Well boys, I've kept you long enought I have to get back home mother is waiting on me"
Shane leaves his friends to their meal all of them giving him a somewhat worried look
The sun is setting now as Shane arrives home. He walks into his house and sees his mother preparing dinner the both exchange a hug but she quickly tells him to go take off his gear and get ready to eat. Shane enters his room and then opens his closet. A mirror is attached to the inside of the door allowing Shane to look at himself.
Shane sees a man seventeen years of age with hazel eyes and long black hair with a braid in the back to keep it from going everywhere. Shane then detached a small square box from the back of his neck but when he clicked a button on it the box formed into a cointhian style helmet with the red plume going down back to front. He then took off his bronz colored cuirass with a red half cape going down the back along with his greaves. He then took off his final peice of gear his sheild. Shane activated his sheild causing it to form out from his forearm. The sheild with a lambda going down the middle Shane set down next to the rest of his gear.
Shane kept on his pteruges and threw on a raggy white shirt and walked into the kitchen to meet his mother. Shanes dad was on a rotation around the spartan kingdom keeping him from being home so for now it was just him and his mother
Shane sat down at the table with the food already set and ready and began to dig it. The food wasnt anything special today just some fish and bread along with some water. As Shane was eating he stopped to think about what Daniil had told him and look up at his mother. He knew thats to his had she had made some good friends in the capital and some people who worked close around the king. So he decied to ask the thing thats been on his mind
"Mother, I have something I would like to ask"
"No Shane for the last time, I know how you and your friends are when you get together I will not have them breaking things in this house"
"No not about that, this is somthing more serious" he says and she then meets his eyes "I've heard someone saying that the king is planning on sending someone out of country, to Beacon to become a huntsman, this is just a nasty rumor right?" he ask
His mother looks down and pokes at her food then drops her fork. Obviously trouble by what he had said she stood up and walked to a window waving Shane over
"My child, what you have spoken however you may have learned it is true. Sparta is going throught a bad economic chrisis right now and a man from Beacon approched the king asking to help. The only thing he wanted in return was a student from sparta for him to teach and become a huntsmen"
Shane looks down. Spartan warriors are almost a legend among the modern world. But ever since what happend during the Great War sparta almost entirly closed itself off to everyone, only ever coming out to deal with waves of grimm attacking their country side. People and tourist alike visit sparta to learn what they can about the secret country and somtimes when they are lucky they video them dealing with grimm and post it online to the internet. This of course only made people want to more about sparta and how they so easily deal with girmm.
That and the fact its recorded they have the lowest grimm count out of all the kingdoms. So of course this Beacon man would want a spartan all to himself do use however he sees fit. Shane cant believe that the king would show such weakness to an outsider and even accept their help.
"Shane" his mother continues "I was approached by the king himself, the king fully aware of our bloodline saw it fit to send you Shane"
Shane takes a step back
"Mother our bloodline realatied to the king Moon is only legend, their are many people with that last name nowadays, tell him to just send one of them"
Shanes mother just shakes her head
"Its too late my son, the deal has already been made, I ment to tell you sooner but I was hopping your father would be here to break the news to you. Your set to leave in a weeks time"
Shane having felt being run into by a boarbatusk can just stand their. He feels as if his whole life has just been stolen and yanked from under him. All Shane want to do know is just scream, but he knows better so what he does instead is goes back to the dinner table to finish his food his mother cooked and once done he helps pick up.
When Shane is back in his room and lays on his bed and stares at the ceiling. His mind wanders for a bit and then he falls asleep his dreams flushing over him
7 DAYS LATER
During the past seven days Shane went a round spreading the news of him leaving. Saying his goodbyes to his friends and teachers alike. On around the fifth day his best friend Iasonas walks up to him and shows him a news line on his scroll. Its was about him! Seems like word of a Spartan publicly leaving their country to attend Beacon is for some reason important to people. Shane waves the scroll away saying its no be deal.
On the seventh day Shane had packed a duffel bag of his personal affects and gathered and equipped all of his gear and walked to Spartas main gate where a car was waiting on him. Along the way many people gave him a glance the word of Shane leaving now known to everyone in the capital. Some gave him sorrowful looks others happy. Most just gave him a nod and wished him good luck.
As Shane neared the gate an middle aged man he knew well stood infront of him. It was Hector a blacksmith for the young spartans in training. Hector was a mute so couldnt really talk to Shane but they found a way mainly throught body language. Hector presented a xiphos. The sword mainly reserved for fully fleged spartan warriors who would actually be using it. By giving him this gift Hector was telling Shane he recognized Shane as a full grown spartan
Shane was humbled by this gift and gave Hector a nod and a handshake thanking him greatly for this. Shane waved as he walked throught the gate and attached the sword to the left side of his hip. When Shane walked out he could see a bullhead some ways away.
When he finally got their he was greated by a tall blond women wearing glasses. She looked like a very strict and stern person and gave off a authoritative aura. She showed him where to place his bag and welcomed him aboard. As they both sat down and the bullhead took off she began to speak
"Shane Moon, I am Glynda Goodwitch a am Headmistress at Beacon Academy where you will be staying. We will be arriving there shortly before the rest of the students will so I will give you a brief tour of the grounds."
Shane getting a good look at the women now just noticed how pale she was compaired to the tan spartan. Her eye color aswell was pretty new to him too. Hes only seen green eye color in films that hes mother forced him to watch and he always thought it was fake. The world is already giving him some suprises. Maybe it wont be so bad right?
"Shane, are you even listing?" Shane hears as he zones back in "Listen I know this isnt probably somthing you want to do but the deal made between your king and my boss is to be honored. Like it or not you will follow every rule of Beacon to the letter or you will face the consequences."
"Goodwitch " he starts off in a very bored tone "I will do what it takes to pass your ridiculous test to become you so high of a title called huntsmen. Obviously it cant be that hard if you only asked for one student from us"
Goodwitch frowned at what Shane said and then regained her composure
"You will also show the staff and students of this school with the same respect you would of someone from your country. So no starting trouble or the deal made could become null and void"
Shane look at this women differinlty now. She was threating him. He didnt know if he liked her or if he disliked her superior complex
"Very well , I'll play fair"
The rest of the flight was filled with the tapping of Goodwitches heel and her typing away on her scroll. Shane managed too pass and and get some sleep before the long day that was sure to be ahead of him
