Hello everyone, I'm back! =) Here's the full chapter nine.
CHAPTER NINE
I hurriedly collected my things and was the first person off of the ship as I rushed down the dock's looking for the nearest building where I could empty my screaming bladder from all of the coffee that it was holding.
After relieving myself I bought a house warming gift from the store killing two birds with one stone as I didn't want to just use the bathroom and leave and I felt like I should have something whenever I surprised Evy and Rick at their home.
"Not to mention that I want to have something for Evy and Rick as I already bought Alex two things while looking for a nice shop that had a bathroom I could use." I thought as I walked out of the store and started down the street once again, my bags a bit heavier than before but still manageable.
I paused for a moment at the street corner, weighing my options of either walking the long two – three hour walk to Evy and Rick's home or hailing a cab to drive me and get there faster. As I mused over my two choices something glimmered to my left, catching my attention.
Turning my head slightly to see whatever it was better I blinked and then balked at what my eyes were seeing.
"There's no way that its possible. I'm just hallucinating…yeah that's it. I had WAYYYY to much coffee. I mean the possibility of the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet floating in a golden light not thirty feet from me is as possible as Jon actually settling down." I thought, trying to reassure myself that I was simply seeing things.
However, that …illusion or trick of the light or whatever it was, made my choice between walking and taking a cab to Evy and Rick's home a much easier one.
I simply began to walk trying not to let my mind drift as I kept a watchful eye on my surroundings.
"Why is it always Sekhmet that I see and hear about? I know she's an Egyptian warrior goddess of healing but seriously what's the connection between her and myself?" I mulled over that singular thought for a while before a break in the nice weather pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Great it just had to start pouring down buckets!" I muttered as I began to get soaked, hoping to keep warm with a brisk jog I began to run down the road, keeping my eyes forward as I searched for the mansion I had only been to twice before.
"Oh heavens! I hope their at home." I thought realizing that without writing them they might not be home to let me in and I wanted nothing more then a meal, a hot bath and to crawl into a nice warm bed.
Finally seeing the mansion I ran full out and passed a strange car as I did so, hoping not to disturb anything I slipped inside the mansion as quietly as I could and put my bags down in the doorway.
I was just getting ready to holler for Evy when I heard a strange male voice coming from the living room,
"Now I will kill you and take it anyway."
"I think not." Ardeth's voice replied and I immediately pulled out one of my twin swords making my way as quickly and as quietly as I could to the living room, keeping a lookout for anyone on my way there.
"Ardeth, what are you doing here?" Evy's asked sounding surprised.
"Perhaps explanations are best kept for later." Ardeth replied.
Using the reflections in the window to see inside the living room I saw a group of men in red capes each holding a sword standing behind someone I presumed to be their leader. Standing across from their leader in-front of an armed Evy and Alex was Ardeth who also had his sword out.
"Ardeth Bay." The strange male voice said.
"Lock-nah." Ardeth replied.
There was a silence and then there came some thudding sounds from upstairs and Lock-nah gave his men the order to kill. I stepped out from my spot and saw Evy and Alex running towards me, I rushed to them, stepping past them to block one of the guys sword before I dropped into a low spin, kicking his feet out from underneath of him and stabbing him immediately through the heart.
"Aunt Ella!" Alex exclaimed happily from behind me as I started fighting with another guy in red. I saw Ardeth start to turn and one of the guy's was going to take advantage of his not paying attention so I pulled out a throwing knife and it sank into the guy's eye-socket killing him and pulling Ardeth's attention back around.
Evy was taking on two guys and holding her ground so I focused my attention on the two that were coming at me as I finished off the one I was currently fighting with.
"Whoa mum when did you learn to do that?" I heard Alex yell as I focused on my fight.
"I have no idea." I heard Evy reply sounding surprised which made me curious but I kept my attention on the two I was currently fighting.
"That I learned from your father." I heard Evy say as I dodged one of the swords and stabbed my sword upward through one of the two's hearts before dodging again and with a quick single slice I cut off the head of the other.
"I hope you know how to get blood out of the carpet Evy." I called out as three more guy's started towards me.
"I can always buy a new one." Was Evy's reply as I pulled out two more throwing knives and buried them into two more guys who were trying to slink around Ardeth to get to me and Evy.
"Not bad for a Medjai." Lock-nah's arrogant voice cut through the sound of clashing metal.
One of the men in red managed to slip past me and Evy and tried to grab something away from Alex.
"Let go!" Alex hollered out, not wanting him to get hurt I flipped myself backwards over the chair I had been backed up against and rushed towards him just as the guy who had slipped past us managed to pull a small chest away from Alex causing Alex to fall to the floor while the guy went stumbling backwards.
"What's in the chest?" Ardeth hollered out as I pushed Alex behind me and handed him one of my smaller throwing daggers before turning around and blocking the incoming sword.
"The bracelet of Anubis!" Evy hollered back and I felt my eye twitch as I sighed mentally,
*Of course Evy would find something that was better left buried.* I thought with a roll of my eyes although a proud smile made its way to my lips, after all no-one else had been able to find it, only Evy had.
"They must not get the bracelet! Get it and get out of here!" Ardeth hollered. I heard the sound of wood creaking and out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed Alex pushing a large wooden bookshelf over on-top of one of the red guys. Using my sword I blocked the two swords coming at me and pulling out a throwing dagger I jerked my arm in an arch slitting open the two throats and backing away as they fell.
I didn't have anyone near me so I turned to help Evy and Alex when I saw another guy come around through a doorway behind Evy,
"Mum look out!" I heard Alex cry as the guy charged Evy who had just picked up the chest that I guessed all the fuse was about, the guy slugged Evy in the face and she went down.
"Evelyn!" I heard Ardeth call out distracted from his fight with Lock-nah who used it to his advantage, as I rushed towards Evy and Alex who were in danger I threw the dagger that I was still holding at Lock-nah. I saw it bite into his face which he moved at just the right time to avoid being impaled but he would have a scar to remember me by.
I grabbed the guy's head as he was throwing Evy over his shoulder and ran my sword sideways through his throat, catching Evy with my left arm as I pulled out my sword with my right arm.
All of the sudden a wave of nausea hit me and I faltered, stumbling backwards a few steps as the room spun around me I saw a flash of red and heard Alex cry out,
"MUM!"
I couldn't move though I had to take a knee for a few seconds as I breathed deeply trying to keep the black spots in my vision from growing into a full on black out.
"El?" I heard Ardeth call out and I motioned for him to go after Evy, "I just need a second, go!" I replied.
Several seconds passed and I managed to get back into full control and stood up running after Ardeth and Alex who were running down the hallway to the front-door.
