Hi guys and gal's! Here's chapter Thirteen. I hope ya'll enjoy, leave a review to let me know what you think so far.
Convincing Jon not to tell the other's wasn't as easy as it would have been before, it seemed after the Mummy escapade nine years earlier Jon had actually grown up a little bit and was acting like the little brother he was.
Sighing as I could see Rick, Evy and Ardeth getting closer to the bus I grabbed Jon's hands to get his attention I stared him dead in the eye,
"Jon if you will keep this a secret for now I promise I will tell them as soon as they get Alex back."
"Well you do always keep your promises... okay I'll keep quiet about it for now." Jon replied finally just as Ardeth stuck his head back inside of the bus.
"We know where their heading are you two coming?" Ardeth asked as Jon and I walked down to the bus door where Ardeth was standing.
"I think I had better stay and get rid of the bodies I left in Evy and Rick's house. You guy's go and I'll catch up as soon as I can." I replied knowing that I would need to be alone for whatever was going to come next.
"Oh El. I didn't even think about them." Evy said pulling out of Rick's arms to wrap her arms around me in a tight hug.
"Alex is more important. He will need all of you in top shape to find him. Don't worry about your house I'll get it fixed up." I replied kissing her forehead like I had done when we were younger and she would have nightmares.
Jon pulled me to the side giving everyone a quick smile before he turned his attention to me and whispered as quietly as he could,
"Do you really think you should be left alone?"
I could see and hear the concern in Jon's face and voice and I pulled him into a tight hug,
"I'll be okay. You keep an eye on the others for me okay?" I whispered back pulling back to look him in the eyes.
"I will." Jon replied giving me a firm nod and I smiled and kissed his forehead before pulling back and going over to Ardeth. I could see the curiosity and questions in his eyes but he didn't pry, knowing I would tell him when I was ready to.
"Will you have Horus with you?" I asked Ardeth as I wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug knowing very well that this could be the last time I would see him.
"Yes, I will need to keep the other Medjia leaders up to speed on where we are. The bracelet will eventually lead them to Ahm Shere will the Scorpion King awaits resurrection along with the army of Anubis. We will need all of the help we can get to keep the army of Anubis from rising again and destroying the world." Ardeth replied sounding more then a little stressed although those who didn't know him very well wouldn't know the difference.
"I will come find you as soon as I can." I vowed firmly pulling back so I was staring Ardeth in the eye.
Ardeth gave me a gentle smile before leaning down and kissing me deeply,
"I will see you soon then." He murmured softly as he pulled back.
A few minutes later we managed to get a Taxi to stop and take the four of them to the dock where they would head straight for the first place that Alex had seen. Hopefully getting there before the Creature and the cult members that had brought him back. Jon gave me a meaningful look before he got into the Taxi and I made an X over my heart so he knew I wouldn't forget my promise. Nodding he got into the Taxi and it took off, taking them to the first boat that was heading in the direction they needed to go.
As the Taxi turned the corner I let my hand fall back to my side and turned to glance at the messed up bus that was by some miracle still running.
"I suppose I can use you to carry the bodies and things without worrying about having to clean you out huh?" I asked the bus as I walked towards it and climbed back up into it. Sitting down in the driver's seat it took me a few minutes before I remembered how to drive a vehicle but after getting things figured out the ride back to Rick and Evy's house was uneventful.
Pulling into their large driveway I backed up so the door was closest to the front steps before shutting off the bus to conserve the little gas that remained and got out, stretching for a few minutes to limber up before I walked into the foyer. Glancing at my bag that held the jewelry I decided to leave it alone and first get the house in order before I did anything else.
TEN HOURS LATER:
"Finally!" I muttered in exhaustion as I flopped down onto the nearest couch. Getting rid of all of the bodies had been the easiest thing to do and what I had done first. Pulling up the carpet with the blood stains, scrubbing the floors and sweeping up the glass wasn't to hard either. Getting rid of the various furniture that had been broken and finding replacements for them was a bit harder but what had been the hardest was patching up all of the bullet holes and finding new wooden door for the various doors that had been shot up or broken down.
"Now all I have to do is paint over the plaster and get new carpets or rugs for the floor." I said out-loud trying to encourage myself but the couch I was currently laying on felt to comfortable to move from and I found myself blinking heavily before succumbing to sleep.
