A/N: Remember how it was mentioned some characters have been unable to do much as of recent? Or generally haven't been able to do much?

Well this is their time to shine- though it's not for a good reason really. It's out of desperation.

RubyDarknessAngel: Understandable. And with Dark Pit… if that were only the case with this chapter…

ImReallyShort: Yeah. Sorry for taking so long. Thank you.

So, like usual, I own nothing but my OCs. RubyDarknessAngel owns Sky and Ruby.

Here's chapter 14.

Chapter 14: Devastation

Tragedy can be an expected or a completely unexpected thing depending on your preparedness. In this case, nobody had been prepared for the unfortunate events that would come next.

The Commander always had a plan. And this time, she had an especially destructive plan up her sleeve. And yet, she arrived at the best time for an ambush- when everyone was asleep. Her defensive general, Luna, set a nightly darkness over Palutena's Temple. Then Yume, her offensive general proceeded to cast dreams onto them (pleasant dreams of course). Jade made sure that nobody had awoken quickly.

And then, the Commander unleashed a devastating attack which really messed up their strategy, which the weakened Palutena soon found. Almost everyone who could fight was out of commission, but it wasn't entirely hopeless. Fortunately, only four (actually, five) managed to handle the attack without getting seriously hurt.

Those four? Kairi, Naminé, Sky and Ruby. Shiki also managed, but she put it on herself to defend everyone else at the temple. Now, it was up to them, and only up to them.

Ruby had the most weapons at her disposal, with an enchanted bow and a Keyblade, and Sky could use her water magic and her Keyblade, as well as pie (though she could probably figure out how to make the pies non-edible and use them as an even deadlier weapon). Kairi too, had a Keyblade, but Naminé?

Naminé had to improvise somehow. So, despite everyone was armed, there were some weaknesses as Ruby was the only one who could use a ranged weapon- her bow, and unless Naminé figured something out, she was defenseless.

Not only that, but they were up against Yami and Roselyynn this time. And it was bad for them that flowers and water mixed really well, so they needed a strategy… if they could make one. Naminé had a feeling she'd mostly be on the sidelines with this mission, so she decided to be a makeshift strategist.

Viridi, in Palutena's place, was helping the girls with their mission today. "Alright ladies, from what I know, Roselyynn and Yami are located in… Wait! That's where one of my Reset Bombs hit!"

"Huh? But where are they?" Sky asked Viridi, considering how Viridi didn't exactly tell them the whole story, and really just a little bit of it. In fact, she barely said anything until she began mentioning Reset Bombs.

The Goddess of Nature, noticing her mistake, decided to finish that statement she had just made. "Oh, fine. You see that town overhead… or what used to be a town? Well, I set off one of my reset bombs there. It doesn't look like it now, but Roselyynn and Yami have settled their roots there. The natural resources there should give Roselyynn quite the advantage…"

Kairi heard how Viridi seemed bitter at Roselyynn being able to have an advantage with her control of flowers (though when she set her mind to it, Roselyynn didn't just control flowers), or possibly just plants in general. Maybe some reasoning behind it happened to be how Roselyynn was using something of life, something that Viridi cared for, and using it as a weapon to harm others and take over the heavens.

Maybe one could say Viridi was the same, though Viridi didn't quite manipulate plants to fight for her from what they knew. They knew that Viridi had her Forces of Nature fight for her as her army, and they were made out of all natural materials. Maybe it counted as plant manipulation, but there was mostly unsureness amongst the group when it came to this topic.

"Okay then. Goddess Viridi, what direction do we go to get to the one destroyed town you were just talking about?" Naminé asked her, as they stopped to wait for directions. A girl with blonde hair that went into a crescent shape of sorts that were tipped with orangey red, wearing a blue scarf that was like lightning appeared.

"Viridi told me the way. Follow me!" Phosphora zipped off in a direction, and the four angels proceeded to follow her in the directions she had been leading them. They began to understand what Viridi had meant by a "destroyed town" upon seeing a town in ruins, covered by nature now, though the destruction looked somewhat recent. However, huge, thorned vines emerged from the town below, much to Phosphora and everyone else's surprise, and the vines knocked almost everyone except for Phosphora down towards the ruins, with Phosphora managing to get away in time.

(Town Ruins)

The girls had a rough landing and some injuries from Roselyynn's gigantic thorned vines that hit them. They heard her somewhat sadistic laughter. "Oh! Yami, did you see that? Wasn't what I did marvelous?"

"I think it was kind of mean. You could've broken someone's back…" Yami said rather softly to Roselyynn, who huffed at her.

"They're the ENEMY. The Commander wants us to rid of them. They may be the least troublesome, but they can still manage to cause a problem. Especially considering our ambush didn't dispatch them."

None approved. The first to speak was Ruby. "We were fortunate to be far away from the attacks anyway! You harmed our teammates… so we will harm you!"

Roselyynn summoned a vine to attack them, though they avoided. Namine took leadership of the situation. "Come on! Follow me!" The blonde haired angel proceeded to guide the others, with Roselyynn being the one to summon many deadly plants she controlled to try and rid of them. However, Namine tried to use her drawings to counter attack. Surprisingly to Namine, it was working, and she used this as a defense mechanism of sorts.

However, the angel was beginning to get pissed that her attacks weren't hitting them. So, from where she was, she began to snipe them with her Rose Staff. And despite her extremely accurate shots, she just wasn't hitting them, and she was starting to get upset.

The pink headed angel threw a fit and begin to go on an outrage, much to her partner's worry and the four angel's dismay. As they ran, Sky mentioned something fairly noticeable. "Haven't you guys noticed how the Commander's Forces often need four of us against one or two of them?"

"Yeah. Why does it matter?" Kairi asked Sky.

"Well… It just doesn't make sense. Shouldn't one be able to take out one?"

Namine, as she countered against thorned vines, tried to answer. "The Commander has some crazy powerful troops on her side. Especially if they have combinations. Fortunately, I think we're getting close to Roselyynn and Yami, so this is the last stretch!"

"If that's the case, I'll make it your permanent final stretch!" Roselyynn shouted. Suddenly, it became something like precision platforming and the girls were forced to speed up. In a last ditch effort, Roselyynn decided to rid of Namine first, which meant the others had to protect her.

Ruby and Sky dealt with the vines, with Ruby cutting them apart with her Keyblade, and Sky doing the same, but if needed, she'd blow some of them up with explosive pies (or pie bombs in this case), and Kairi blocked and counterattacked the other attacks going for her blonde nobody. They got closer and closer to the end, and Roselyynn would've been able to stop them in their tracks if Kairi hadn't figured out a technique similar to a reaction command, and she instructed the others to follow her lead.

Namine created platforms on the thorned vines through her drawings and they were able to hop from vine to vine before eventually jumping off of them, going down, and safely landing onto a platform below. Viridi set up Drinks of the Gods for them before the doorway where Pit went through to fight Cragalanche, though now, others were set there.

"Get in there and show them whose boss! Everyone's counting on you." Viridi reminded them, as they drank up before going through.

When Kairi, Namine, Ruby and Sky came in, they saw Roselyynn pacing back and forth, upset about what just happened, and they also saw Yami. The blue-haired girl was alerted to their presence upon noticing them, though Roselyynn didn't.

Yami pulled out her Aquarius Blade and tapped Roselyynn on the shoulder. "Rose, we've got company." Roselyynn pulled out her Rose Staff and smirked at her foes.

"So you've finally shown up, huh?" Roselyynn scoffed at them, and her opponents didn't seem pleased. Roselyynn smirked, twirling her staff before nodding at Yami, and the two got into battle stances, as did the four before them.

The battle quickly initiated when Roselyynn went back to a good spot to snipe and attack them while Yami stayed up front. To keep from focusing on one of the two, Namine had them divide up the word, with Ruby and Namine handling Roselyynn from afar with ranged attacks (and Ruby having to switch from her Keyblade to her Enchanted Bow), and allowing Kairi and Sky to focus on Yami.

However, Roselyynn occassionally had Yami power up her attacks using her signature plant-based magic by using her water magic, causing the girls to occassionally change their strategy as they had to avoid shots from Roselyynn as well as her thorned vine attacks. Because Yami could ruin fire based magic and Roselyynn could stop electric based magic, it was hard to figure out who they could stop first.

As Ruby fired at Roselyynn, Namine, who had to be the strategist, came up with something quickly. She caught Kairi and Sky's attention with a beam of light and she pointed at Roselyynn, changing their plan.

So, as Ruby and Namine remained distanced from Roselyynn, occassionally getting away from Yami's attacks from her Aquarius Blade, Roselyynn was caught off guard when Kairi and Sky suddenly ambushed her with close and nasty attacks. Roselyynn put up a thorned vine wall which Sky and Kairi had to quickly get away from, but Sky shouted at Roselyynn from outside of her barrier.

"Hey, rosebud! Eat this!" Sky shouted, much to Roselyynn's confusion as she cowardly shielded herself within her barrier.

"Huh?" Sky threw some of her explosive pies at the barrier, and the vines quickly vanished upon impact, startling Roselyynn and also giving her a weak point which allowed Kairi to ambush her with a Firaga spell and Sky then going in with her Keyblade and hitting Roselyynn with a nasty combo, before jumping back and alowing Kairi to get in with a Firaga Burst spell, and just before Yami could save Roselyynn, Kairi finished her off.

Roselyynn, apologizing to her teammate, retreated, and the only one that was left was Yami. Yeah, Yami was a pushover when she was first defeated (or wasn't, but still), but now, she decided to make herself much harder, as she was upset.

…And do you know what happens when Yami is angry?

Everything grew dark when Yami went berzerk, making her attacks unpredictable and hard hitting, and she also made herself incredibly hard to hit. "Sky!" Ruby shouted at the blonde, who looked over at her.

"Yeah? What's up?"

"The water! Do you think you can use your water magic to control Yami's?" Sky thought about it for a moment and Yami struck again. "I'll try!"

And suddenly, there was a power struggle between Sky and Yami, who was taken aback, but it also created an advantage to attack Yami as she was occupied. Namine began her attack by using Thundaga spells, which stopped and scared Yami, her astraphobia kicking in, and also hurting her, Ruby fired at Yami with her bow, and Kairi was about to go in and strike, though Yami quickly snapped out of it and swept Kairi off of her feet.

Though Sky then distracted her with her water magic, and despite the attack had no effect of Yami (as she was resitant to water), Kairi was able to retalitate from Yami's previous attack and she hit her with a combo, though Yami was able to stop the attack and counter, getting into a duel with Kairi, not noticing it when Ruby fired at her again, and Sky hitting her from behind with her Keyblade.

Yami let out a cry, but she wasn't done yet. In fact, she seemed to have a greater endurance than they knew.

The aqua-head decided to focus on her water based attacks, and though Sky tried to tame it, Yami put another force into work in her berzerk state, which happened to be powers involving weather manipulation.

Now, before you ask, "She can manipulate the weather?", Yami can only do so in her berzerk state in order to furtherly power her attacks. And considering that, she could only create fierce storms, mostly involving rain.

In fact, she caused a rainstorm, but it wasn't a simple shower. It was a downpour of rain, which made it more difficult for Sky to try and control the fierce waves Yami was sending at them.

"Namine!" Sky cried out as she was trying to block waves of water Yami was sending at her with her Keyblade, catching the other blonde's attention. "Do something! We need the tide turned now!"

Namine tried using Thundaga on Yami, which managed to take her off guard, allowing the team to go in and punish her. With a final combo attack, they were able to defeat Yami, but Yami herself didn't flee, as a light was quickly summoned to recall her back to the base.

After the four girls were finished battling, it was soon realized how exhausted they really were. All that running and pain from this fight only showed that the Commander's army was getting increasingly more powerful.

Also considering how the Commander and her three generals were able to cause such devastation, they needed to act soon.

Or else the Commander would potentially be able to overpower them and complete her goals, taking over the heavens.

And as the heroes, they had to stop it before it could happen.

XxXxX

A/N: With the hit of devastation and the fact that our heroes need to act soon, will they be able to devise a strategy and stop the Commander? Or will she stop them first?

Not only that, but who will help them in times like this?

…And though this has nothing to do with the plot, this chapter took much longer to write than I wanted it to, but that's okay.

So what will happen next? Well, we'll just have to see in the next chapter.

Like usual, please review if you'd like, I'd prefer if you didn't flame, and please tell me how I can improve.

I will see you all in the next chapter.

Ciao!
