Chapter 12

Lin, Shu, and Small Beak were in an elevator going down to a basement in a prison facility a few miles outside Republic City. They got to the floor they were going to and saw two cells. One cell made of metal the other wood. Wind came from the metal cage. Shu looked at the metal cage. She saw a man levitating while he was meditating. "Hello young one, what has brought you to the basement of this prison."

Shu was about to answer when Lin grabbed her, "None of your concern… Zaheer!" Lin told.

"Chief Beifong always a pleasure." Zaheer stated with a little venom seeping out.

"Come on kid." Lin told Shu pulling her along.

Shu and Lin arrived at a wooden cage. Inside a woman with a straight black hair that touched the ground. She had the same mole as Shu. "Hello Lin, it has been a long time." The woman said lifting her head up.

Kuvira saw Shu and her eyes widened. To Kuvira it was like looking at a mirror, the only that seems to be different was her darker skin. 'It can't be.' Kuvira thought.

"It has been a long time, your daughter is now 13 and is here right behind me." Lin told Kuvira.

Lin looked at Shu and waved her forward. She followed and right infront of the wooden bars. "You have 15 minutes." Lin told the both of them, as she went to the elevator.

After a moment Kuvira asked the first question. "So what's your name?"

"Shu Hai, but everyone calls me Shu." Shu told her.

"Lovely name." Kuvira complemented. "Baatar chose a lovely name."

"Thank you." Shu said.

"What brings you to my cell anyway."

"I wanted to meet my mom and learn about you." Shu said simply.

"Why would you want to even know about me, the woman who nearly killed your father?" Kuvira asked.

Shu blinked. "Dad never told me that." She muttered.

"When did, you learn about me?" Kuvira asked.

"The night before I came to Republic City." Shu answered.

"That was great timing." Kuvira muttered annoyingly.

"I know right." Shu said with a slight smile.

Kuvira just looked at her. "What do you want to know?" Kuvira asked.

"I just want about you, and I was hoping to hear about your life before the Earth Kingdom collapse." Shu responded.

For the next 15 minutes, Kuvira told Shu about her life growing up in Zaufu. How Shu's grandma taught her how to metal bending, it was same method Su taught Shu. Kuvira told Shu about getting to know her father, uncles, and aunt. Too soon however Lin and a White Lotus guard showed up to let them know that their time was up. Shu got up. "I hope to see you again, thank you." Shu told Kuvira.

Kuvira watched the three enter the elevator out of the prison. When they got to it, Kuvira gave a small smile. "It must be nice to reunite with the daughter you had to give up."

Kuvira frond at him. She stayed silent for 2 minutes. "Yes, it was good to see her again."

On the elevator Lin, Shu, Small Beak, and two White Lotus guards were silently waiting for it to reach the ground floor. "Aunt Lin?" Shu asked.

"Yes kid." Lin responded.

"When can I see mom again?" Shu asked.

The two guards looked at each other nervously and Lin sighed. "Not until two weeks."

Shu smiled a little. "Thank you, Aunt Lin."

Meanwhile at a shady bar the four conspirators were talking amongst themselves. "So everyone knows their part of the plan?" One asked.

"Yes."

"Yep."

One just nods his affirmation.

"In 3 days we spring our plan into action."
