Chapter 16

In the cabin Shu Hai was still tied up with a scared look on her face, while her captors were discussing what they heard over the radio. "Kuvira escaped!" One of the two males told them. "How?"

"It's probably fake to throw us off, I mean Kuvira is locked up in highly secure prison guarded by some of the best benders in the world."

"Maybe if we took off a finger, we can send a message to the authorities." The other male said pulling out a knife, but the last female grabbed his wrist and shakes her head.

"We have an agreement that she would not be harmed Chu." The other male told him.

"Tch." Chu grunted pulling his hand out of the woman's grasp. "we can't make an omelet without breaking a few ostrich horse eggs."

The silent female shook her head furiously, while the other female glared at Chu. "Your out voted Chu." The other male told him. "No harm comes to the kid."

"Fine but how do we get the message to the authorities without being arrested Shin?" He asked him.

"We follow the plan and we wait for an official response." The vocal woman told him.

"So just stay here and wait to see if the police or the Avatar locate us?" Shin yelled in frustration before the silent woman put a hand to his mouth to keep him quiet.

"We have the hostage and they don't know that we won't hurt her." The female that talked told them.

Suddenly the silent female shook the other female's shoulder. They turn to see Shu awake and looking around scared. The silent female went to Shu and put her index finger on her lips to tell her to stay quit. Shu nodded. The other female untied her hands and gives her a bowl of rice to eat with wooden chopsticks. "Thank you." Shu thanked them before eating.

"Sorry we kidnapped you, but you were the only way we can get what we need." The talkative female told Shu.

"I take it you all have something against my mom." She stated trying to start a conversation out of boredom.

"Yeah, Chu hear's parents were sent to the work camps for writing articles speaking out against her and her regime, my family was left broke after they took over my family's farm due to my family playing hard ball with pricing of their crops willing to be bought by the regime and other cities not yet conquered by the Empire, Ming here had here small farming village destroyed because they were in the way of the new rail system the Empire was building, and Ling ..." Shin tried to speak. "…what happened to ling she is still traumatized, and she may never speak again all because she married a fire bender and was pregnant."

Ling held her stomach and looked out the window with a forlorn look on her face. "It's best if you don't bring up her pain." Ming told Shu.

Shu just nodded. "Now we just wait and see what is going to happen."

They wait for around 3 hours listening to music on radio waiting for any news reports the five heard a creaking noise from the front door. Ming and Shin approached the door. Suddenly a boulder smashed through the front door knocking the two back a few feet back but stayed on their feet. The boulder then breaks apart revealing Kuvira as the one responsible for the boulder that smashed the front door and the wall surrounding it. Kuvira was in a fighting stance and ready to attack but was stopped before she could start. Chu was behind Shu with a knife to her throat. "Don't move and don't even try bending this knife it's pure platinum." He taunted Kuvira.

"I won't fight you all if you let my daughter go right now." She offered them.

"That sounds fair." Ming and Shin agreed while Ling nods her head.

"No!" Chu yelled at the same time as Ming and Shin agreed to Kuvira's proposal.

Ming, Shin, and Ling glare at Chu until he sighs. "Fine!" He pull the knife away and pushes Shu away while Ling goes behind Kuvira and chops the back of her neck knocking her out.

"Mom." Shu yells going to her mom and holding her hand.

Shu had tears forming in her eyes ready to fall. Ming shook the girls shoulder. "It's best to get out of here."

Shu nodded before running crying. The four conspirators look in the direction of the girl. "How long do we have?" Chu asked.

"An hour, I will set the walls up." Shin told him starting to earthbend high walls to surround the cabin. "Do you have plan B with you Chu?"

"Yep." he said pulling out a jar filled with a silver liquid.

Outside the walls Shu was running as fast as she could. She was following the driveway out to the open road. She saw the walls rise but kept running knowing that she wouldn't be able to help much. She kept running, tears in her eyes, then she ran into her two friends. "Lahna, Zuko what are you guys doing here?" She asked them.

"Your mom kidnapped us and brough us here with her then she ran off." Zuko explained.

"She is in the cabin with my kidnappers." Shu responded.

"Come on, there is a police station not to far from here and we can get the authorities here." Lahna announced.

"That is a good idea lets go." Shu said as they left to the station only to see police satomobiles approach them.

The first two people to exit out of the police satomobile being Avatar Korra and Lin. "Shu, are you alright?" Lin asked.

"Yeah." She replied.

Lin gave her a quick hug before noticing Lahna and Zuko. "What are you two doing here?" She asked them loudly.

"Shu's mom kidnapped us." The two answered at the same time.

Korra's eyes widened. "Where is Kuvira?" Korra asked.

"In a cabin over the wall." The three answered.

"All right, chief get them out of here." Korra ordered. "I will deal with the kidnappers and apprehend them with Kuvira."

The Avatar airbent her way over the wall. Lin and some of her officers guided the three teens to the satomobiles. The three sits together in the back of one of them and are taken away. Lin looks back at the wall as her niece was taken to the police station. Lin stands there and just waits for Korra to lower the earth barrier.
