Chapter 17

Korra was over the large earth wall when she slowed her decent through air bending. Once on the ground she earth bent the wall down so the officers can surround the cabin easier. Korra ran as fast as she could, and air blasted Shin to the wall knocking him out. "You're to late Avatar the tyrant is going to die a painful death." Chu told her.

Korra saw the pitcher on the ground with a small amount a familiar silver liquid spilt from the pitcher. Her eye's widened and went stiff for a brief second before getting her composure back. She earth bent at a small wall that was starting to form from Ming's earth bending knocking Ming back staggering back a little but not enough to knock her out. Ling was about to reach over at Korra's neck to knock her unconscious but was caught in metal wiring tying her up by Lin. Another officer used metal bending to tie up Ming and Chu. Looking down Korra saw Kuvira on the ground withering in pain. "Kuvira I will get the poison out of you!" She yelled urgently.

Korra then metal bent the poison out of her and put it in the pitcher. Kuvira still looked scared out her mind. "Kuvira the officers will take you to a secure place to get you medical attention." Korra told her.

Kuvira was gagging still. She was having a hard time breathing but after a few minutes she stopped gagging and was unconscious. Korra breathed a sigh of relief. "Lets get them out of here." Kora told the officers.

"Right." The shouted as they took the four kidnappers and an ambulance rolled up to take Kuvira to the hospital.

Korra looks and sees the satomobiles leave the area. She enters the only satomobile that has not left yet and takes her to the police station. When she entered the police station to talk with the chief of police she noticed that the President was following the chief into her office. She walked by the door leading into the office over hearing the conversation. "So you're firing me?" She heard Lin ask.

"No, I am asking you to retire with dignity." The president told her. "The press will be releasing information on Kuvira's daughter and where she has been living in Republic City and my administration has to do damage control and we need a scape goat otherwise I can kiss reelection goodbye." The president told her.

"Anything else that I should be concerned about?" Lin asked her boss.

"Just the harassment that Kuvira's daughter will face while she is in the United Republic." He told her.

The door to the chiefs office opened as the president and two of his advisors exited the office. "Ah Avatar Korra, good work in apprehending the fugitive." He told her.

"Thanks." Korra responded to him. "What will happen with the kidnappers?"

"They will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." He told her.

"What was that with Chief Beifong?" She asked.

"Nothing that you have to worry about Avatar." He said in a slightly patronizing way.

Korra entered the office. "Hey Beifong, how's it going?" She asked the chief.

"You overheard my conversation with the president, so you know that I am being forced to resign." The chief explained.

"Yeah I heard." She said. "Sucks."

"The president wanted me out since day one." Lin said pulling out a bottle of whiskey. "I was going to retire soon anyway and I am being offered a way to retire on top instead of having a sato bus running me over."

She pulled up a drinking glass and poured some of the whiskey into the glass. She drank the whiskey in one gulp. "I will be announcing it next week."

"Still pretty sleazy for him to railroad you like that."

"That's politics." Lin told her drinking another glass.
