My Pov
I woke up to the feeling of the sun tickling my nose as morning came. I stretched my legs and rubbed my eyes. I lifted myself off of the sleeper sofa, which is where I slept. The apartment I lived in with my mummy and daddy was small, but I didn't mind sleeping on the sofa. I jumped off the sofa and saw that they were still asleep. I quietly snuck to their bed and carefully crawled onto the bed. I crawled up to both of them and kissed each of them on the cheek. Mummy was the first one to wake up. She looked at me and smiled.
"Morning sweetheart." Mummy said.
"Morning Mummy." I said. That's when I felt an arm wrap around my waist and pull me backwards. I squealed as Daddy pulled me into his arms. "Morning Daddy."
"Morning birthday girl." Daddy said, kissing my cheek. Then he kissed Mummy on the lips. "Morning Jen."
"Morning Jonas." Mummy said. We all ate breakfast, got dressed and went out. I was going to my grandparents around seven, so we were going to spend as much time together as possible before I had to leave. First we went to the playground. I loved going there, especially the swings. Daddy pushed me and Mummy took pictures of us. She was a photographer and never went anywhere without her camera. After about a hour or so, we left the park. "These are so perfect."
"Let me have a look." Daddy said. Mummy tilted her camera so he could. "They look fantastic."
"Can I see Mummy?" I asked. I knelt down and showed me the pictures of us at the park. Mummy really was amazing with her camera. Before long, it was almost dusk.
"Come on. Let's get back." Daddy said. We headed back to our apartment. As soon as we got back, I had to pack my overnight bag for my grandparents. I had just finished packing when there was a knock at the door. Mummy opened the door and it was my grandparents.
"Hi Nana. Hi Grandpa." I greeted.
"Hello sweetie." Nana said. She knelt down and kissed my cheek.
"You got your stuff packed kiddo?" Grampy asked. I nodded and handed him my overnight bag.
"Oh Jennifer! These pictures of you three are so lovely." Nana said.
"Thank you. It's so easy to take pictures of Jess. She's really photogenic. Has been since she was a baby." Mummy said.
"It helps that her mum has a talent for it." Daddy said. I smiled at my parents. I loved them both so much.
"Well, it's getting late. If we're gonna get home before it gets too late, we better go now." Grandpa said. I got up and started following my grandparents. I gave my parents each a kiss goodbye and we headed out.
"Bye Mummy! Bye Daddy!" I said. I waved goodbye to them as we walked out of the building. We almost got to Grandpa's car when Daddy came running after us.
"Hold on. Jess honey, I need to talk to you for a sec." Daddy said. I was a little confused, but I walked over to him.
"Is something wrong Daddy?" I asked. He shook his head.
"No. It's just... I need you to hold on to something for me." Daddy said. He pulled out a small box out of his pocket and opened it. Inside was a really pretty ring. "I was going to keep it secret, but I need to tell you. Tomorrow I'm going to ask Mummy to marry me. I want you to hold on to the ring. Can you do that?" I nodded really fast. He gave me the box and I put it in my pocket. I gave him a hug and kiss and then ran to my grandparents.
"Bye Daddy! I love you. Tell Mummy that too." I said.
"We love you too Jessie." Daddy said. I got in the car and we drove away. I was so happy that Daddy wanted to finally marry Mummy. I remember sometimes when we'd go out, I'd hear people make comments about our situation. Even Mummy's parents were happy that they hadn't gotten married yet. I didn't see a problem. It's not like Mummy and Daddy weren't together and I was going back and forth between them. We were happy because we were to together.
"What did Jonas need to talk to you about Jessie?" Nana asked, turning around to look at me.
"I can't tell you Nana. It's a secret." I said, playfully placing a finger to my lips.
"Oh really?" Nana said. I nodded.
"But not for long." I said. She rolled her eyes and turned back around. I covered my hands to keep from giggling to loud. We got to Nana and Grandpa's house. It was around 7:45. My grandparents gave me a cake and their presents. I opened them and my parents. Mummy had gotten me a camera of my own and Daddy got me a phone. Nana had gotten me a new dress, shoes, a locket and stuffed rabbit. Grandpa gave me a new backpack to carry my things.
"Honestly Em. You're going to spoil Jessie rotten." Grandpa said.
"Of course I will! She's my granddaughter and at the rate our son is moving with Jennifer, she may be my only one." Nana exclaimed. Grandpa rolled his eyes and so did I. For about two hours we played games and watched TV. Soon, I started yawning.
"Ok little miss. Time for bed." Grandpa said. I shook my head.
"No. I want to stay up and see the new year." I said, trying and failing to keep my eyelids open.
"Maybe next year sweetie." Nana said. Grandpa picked me up and took me my room. He put me to bed and turned off the light.
"Goodnight sweetheart." Grandpa said. I fell asleep, but it wasn't peaceful. All through the night, I kept having nightmares. In my nightmares were black shadows and people hurting themselves. Then there were men in white, soldiers and other people running away from them. Then I saw Mummy and Daddy. They were walking away from me. I tried to run after them, but they only got farther away. Finally... a loud-
BOOM!
I snapped my eyes open. I looked at my clock and saw it read 12:00 AM. New Years Day. Then I looked around and saw I was surround by pictures. Hand-drawn pictures of the things I saw in my dreams. What happened? Did I draw these?
I'm alive. Just been dealing with a lot. I hope this is a good start to my Residue story.
