A/N: So it's been a long time since I updated this story. Sorry to anyone who wanted an update. I had mostly given up on this story, but recently felt like writing it again which is where this chapter came from. Am I going to continue it? I'm not sure. Maybe, maybe not. I can't promise anything, but at least I got chapter 8 finished finally. Thanks for reading (if any of my readers are still out there).

Total Tween Island

Chapter 8: Up the creek

Last time on Total Tween Island: the competitors were forced to conquer their deepest darkest fears. Not all of them succeeded, but others surprised the group and faced their fears head on. In a shocking twist Libby was eliminated after refusing to face her fear. Once again the Bass find themselves in the loser's seat. Can they pull this one out of the water? Find out today on Total Tween Island!

(Theme song plays)

The sixteen remaining campers (minus one) were gathered together near the shore. Everyone was standing with their team as Chris explained what they were doing that day with a clipboard. "Bass, Gophers, today's challenge is a true summer camp experience: a canoe trip." He then pointed towards the sand where eight boats were lying.

"You'll be paddling your canoes across the lake to Boney Island!" The host did his best to make these last two words sound scary. When you get there you must portage your canoes to the other side of the island. Which is about a two hour hike through treacherous, dense jungle."

"What do we got to pour?" Buford asked confused.

"Portage," Chris repeated slowly. "Dude, walk with your canoe."

"Why didn't you just say that?"

Chris ignored the question. "When you arrive at the other end of the island you'll build a rescue fire that will be judged by me. The first team to paddle home and return their canoes to the beach is the winner of invincibility." He explained. "Move campers move!"

Both teams rushed off towards the canoes before Chris remembered something. "Oh wait! There's one thing I should mention." Everyone stopped running and turned around to listen. "Legend has it if you take anything off the island you'll be cursed forever!" Once again he tried to sound creepy as he said this.

Mandy scoffed. "I'm not afraid." She couldn't be intimidated, but some of the others looked worried.

"Now get in your canoes and let's have some fun!" The host finished.

Everyone walked towards the beach and the canoes. A few seconds later Kuki ran out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to her shoe. "I'm here! What did I miss?"

"Canoes." Chris pointed to where the others were heading. Kuki quickly ran past the host to join her teammates.

*Confessional*

Phineas: When Chris told everyone to pick a canoe partner, I knew it was time to make my move on Mandy. Wait does that sound like I'm going to hit on her? No no, that's not what I meant at all!

*End Confessional*

Phineas walked over beside Mandy and put his arm around her shoulder. "Hey Mandy, what do you say to being canoe partners?"

"Don't touch me." She knocked his arm off her shoulder. "Why do you want to be partners with me anyway?"

"I think we'd work well together. Don't you?"

Mandy grinded her teeth together. "…just don't touch me."

Meanwhile Edd, Baljeet and Timmy approached a green canoe together. "What say we share one gentlemen?" Edd suggested.

"Sounds good to me!" Timmy said plopping himself into the canoe.

"I'm not sure it's structurally sound." Baljeet gazed warily at the water vehicle. "But I don't seem to have much of a choice." He helped Edd push the canoe into the lake before climbing inside himself.

Next to them Cindy and Mabel found their own canoe. "Alright Mabel get in and I'll push." Cindy said doing some quick stretches.

"Yay!" Mabel hopped into the canoe. "Go Cindy! Go! Go!" She cheered as the blonde pushed the canoe into the water. Once they were a few feet in Cindy tried to climb in. Mabel grabbed her hand and helped pull her in. "Now where's that paddle?" She looked all around the boat for it. Then a hand held it out to her. "Oh thanks." Taking the paddle she looked over to see Gaz had been the one to hand it to her. "Ahhh!" She screamed.

"Mabel calm down." Cindy told the terrified girl. "It's just Gaz." This however did not reassure Mabel in the least.

*Confessional*

Cindy: For some reason Mabel has this irrational fear of Gaz. I guess I can't completely blame her; she is pretty creepy. I should remember that next time our team is up for elimination.

*End Confessional*

Meanwhile the Bass were also heading into the water. Zim was sharing a red canoe with Buford. The alien looked terrified to have to go out into water with little to no protection. Buford didn't really notice.

Isabella skipped over toward where Dib was standing. "Want to share a canoe with me Dib?"

"Huh?" He hadn't heard the dark-haired girl come up behind him. "Oh sure Isabella."

"Great!" She locked arms with him and skipped over to one of the canoes.

Next to them Nazz and Kuki grabbed a canoe for themselves. "Hurry Kuki!" Nazz urged the Asian girl to go faster as she pushed the canoe into the water.

"Huh? Why?" Kuki asked.

"Because Pacifica's coming this way!"

"Oh crud!" Kuki said realizing what her friend meant. She also began desperately pushing the canoe into the lake. Once it was all the way in the water they grabbed their rows and began rowing.

"Hey wait!" Pacifica called out as she ran over. But it was too late as her two lackeys were already in the water.

*Confessional*

Nazz: Pacifica's been in a bad mood ever since our last challenge where we pushed her into the mud. Riding in a canoe with her for the whole challenge was NOT something I wanted to do. Hopefully this challenge will be easier with just Kuki.

*End Confessional*

Now there was only one canoe left and two campers. Pacifica and Dipper looked at each other and realized what this meant at the same time. "Oh crap!" They said together. Then they glared light at the other. "Fine…" Pacifica sighed before getting in the canoe and sitting down.

"What are you doing?"

"Getting in the canoe to do the challenge." The blonde rolled her eyes. "What does it look like?"

"Well get out." Dipper kicked the canoe. "We have to push it into the water first."

"No, you have to push it into the water." Pacifica smirked.

"Come on Pacifica, get out already!" But as he said this he noticed everyone else was already in the water and Chris was waiting for them.

"Better hurry up." Pacifica told him as she switched from sitting to lying down on her back. Dipper grinded his teeth in frustration but began to push the canoe out into the water. But because he was doing this alone and was rather weak it took him a while and he was sweaty by the time he got in the canoe.

*Confessional*

Dipper: Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Pacifica? Because I do!

Pacifica: Teaming up with Dipper sounded like a punishment at first but if I get to keep torturing him like this then I like this challenge!

*End Confessional*

The seven canoes were lined up ten feet away from the beach each one about five feet apart. Chris stood on the beach holding a gun. He cocked it before raising it over his head. "On your marks, get set…" He pulled the trigger shooting a bullet into the air. "Paddle!"

The sixteen campers immediately began rowing their canoes. At the same time a dead bird fell at Chris' feet. "That's going to provoke some angry emails."

It was slow going as they all made their way to Boney Island. All seven teams were pretty close but some were doing better than others. Buford and Zim were currently in first thanks to Buford's muscle and Zim's fear of water making him row as fast as he could. But Cindy, Mabel and Gaz's canoe was a close second.

On the other hand Dipper and Pacifica were currently in last place. This is attributed to Dipper being tired from pushing the canoe into the water along with Pacifica not bothering to paddle at all. Dipper was panting heavily as he paddled their canoe alone. "Come on Pacifica…" he said breathing hard. "…we both have to paddle."

The blonde girl was currently working on her nails and not paying Dipper much attention. "Uhh…no." She told him. "You can paddle; I'm not going to bother."

"If you don't paddle we'll lose!" Dipper insisted.

"Well then you better row faster." Pacifica shot back at him.

"Grrr!" Dipper growled angrily before pulling his paddle out of the water and putting it back in the canoe. "No way! I'm done. Either you start paddling or we're not going anywhere."

"Are you serious?" Pacifica stopped working on her nails to glare at her partner. "Stop messing around Dipper! Start rowing already."

Dipper crossed his arms and turned away from her. "No way. I'm done."

Pacifica clenched her fist angrily. "Fine!" She picked up the remaining paddle and smacked Dipper in the head with it.

"Oww!"

"I'll row the stupid thing." She said putting the paddle in the water. "But don't think this is over." Dipper rubbed the spot on his head where she hit him but said nothing. He merely picked up his own paddle and began rowing again.

Meanwhile on Phineas and Mandy's canoe the redhead decided to break the silence. "So Mandy…"

"Are you finally going to tell me why you're forcing me to be your partner for the challenge?" The dark girl correctly guessed.

"That's right." Phineas said. "I recently learned something interesting about you."

Mandy raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be?"

"I heard from a reliable source that you've teamed up with Gaz. Not only that, but that you also sabotaged the other team in the talent contest to make sure our team won."

"What?" Mandy said alarmed. "Who told you this?"

"It doesn't matter who." Phineas said. "Mandy don't you see? You shouldn't be forming alliances or cheating. It's about playing the game fairly and having fun; not winning."

Mandy seethed with anger. "I don't think it's any of your business how I play the game Phineas."

"As your fellow teammate, I disagree." The boy genius smirked.

*Confessional*

Mandy: Someone was spying on my meeting with Gaz. Who knows what else they know? I'll have to let her know so we can deal with this immediately.

Phineas: I hope Mandy took my words to heart. It really is more fun when we all play the game fairly.

*End Confessional*

In a different canoe Isabella was trying to talk to Dib. "So Dib," she said in-between canoe strokes. "What'cha doing?"

Dib stopped paddling. "Umm…what?" He looked puzzled. "I don't understand."

"Oh right." She shook her head furiously for a moment. "Sorry, force of habit. Anyway I was just wondering why did you decide to be on this show?"

"Good question." Dib paused to think about it. "I guess I really didn't want to until I heard Zim was joining. I knew if he won he'd use the money to help him take over the world and I can't let that happen so I joined to stop him. Also if I won the money would be helpful in becoming a professional paranormal investigator."

"I…see." Isabella found his answer to be rather strange, but at this point had come to expect that from Dib.

"Why are you here?" He asked her.

"My friends and I thought it would be a lot of fun." She answered. "To try something that we've never done before. Plus I can be rather competitive and it's nice to have an outlet for that."

Dib smirked. "You and your friends sure are close huh?"

"Well of course." Isabella answered. "They're my best friends! Aren't you close to your friends?"

"Back where I come from I don't have any friends." Dib answered. Isabella frowned when she heard this.

*Confessional*

Isabella: Aww poor Dib! He must be lonely without any friends.

*End Confessional*

After the campers had been rowing for a while and gotten rather tired of it a strange mist set in. The temperature dropped a few degrees and the sun seemed to disappear behind some clouds. It was then that they realized they were almost at Boney Island. They soon realized it was named that for a reason as a mountain structure on the island greatly resembled a skull.

Jagged rocks started to appear in the water. Soon the water was filled with them and the canoes had to carefully maneuver past them or risk getting caught on the rocks and sinking. A few minutes later and the canoes made it to the sandy shore. Zim was the first out of his canoe.

"Yes! Sweet land!" He bent down to kiss the sand. "It is glorious!"

"Wow did you see that skull?" Timmy asked his two teammates.

"Cool." Gaz said getting out of her canoe.

"That's not cool." Kuki shivered. "It's scary!"

"I wonder if there's anything supernatural about this island." Dipper pondered.

"Let's just get this over with already." Pacifica said raising her end of the canoe over her head. The others did the same. They carried their canoes over their heads as they made their way onto the island.

The teams raced through the island's foliage. There was no real path so it was tough going as they made their way across. Along the way they saw various small animal skulls that had been raised up on sticks in clumps of three everywhere they went. No one was sure why they were there but that only made it all the scarier.

Phineas and Mandy were in the lead when suddenly a tree fell over right in front of them. They moved back a few feet and realized how close they came to being crushed. Everyone behind them stopped. Just then small pairs of eyes could be seen watching them from the darkness.

Kuki gasped. "I think something's out there!"

"Nothing's out there." Cindy told her.

"But I saw something!"

Just then large animals that were the size of bears but had beaver like appendages came out of the foliage. "Monster beavers!" Timmy cried out.

"Aaahhh!" Everyone screamed before running away from the large animals.

*Confessional*

Chris: A remnant of the Pleistocene era, the wooly beaver is a day active rodent indigenous to Boney Island. Oh yeah, and they're meat eaters!

*End Confessional*

Still carrying their canoes over head the eighteen campers ran for their lives screaming as a group of wooly beavers chased them. "W-What should we do?" Baljeet asked.

"Keep running!" Edd said.

They soon reached a small pond which was no deeper than a waiting pool. As soon as they passed into it the wooly beavers stopped chasing them. After a few angry grunts the animals turned tail and left. "What happened?" Phineas asked.

"Why are they leaving?" Dib asked.

"Who cares?" Mabel shouted in relief. "We're safe!"

Right after she said this, a group of large prehistoric birds popped up surrounding them. It turned out this was their nesting grounds. Gaz scoffs. "Nice going Mabel."

"It's not my fault!" Mabel cries out. Reacting to the sound of her voice the birds suddenly attack. The campers immediately start running again. They flee from the birds that viciously fly after them.

"They're getting closer!" Nazz observed as she ran. "Someone do something!"

"I've had enough of this!" Zim stopped running and turned to face the birds. "You pathetic creatures want a piece of Zim? Let's see how you like this!" He pulled out his ray gun and shot one of the birds. It hit spot on and burst into flame. As it fell to the ground the other birds swooped down and began to eat their fallen comrade.

"Dude, that is so totally gross." Nazz frowned.

"Nice job dude!" Buford slapped Zim on the back. He then noticed the others were already leaving. "But come on! We got a race to win." Zim nodded and they both raised the canoe over their heads and ran off.

The Killer Bass teams were in front when they came to a fork on the path. One way went left while the other went right. "Which way should we go?" Kuki asked.

"Just go left." Pacifica said.

Dipper smirked. "No, go right. The trail is wider on that side." Everyone agreed and chose to go right. Pacifica glared at Dipper.

Not a minute later the Screaming Gophers teams came to the same fork. "Where'd the other team go?" Mabel asked.

"They went right." Cindy answered.

"Then we're going left." Mandy decided running toward the left path along with Phineas. The others quickly followed.

They kept running for a while and most of the trees and plants disappeared. Suddenly Timmy, Baljeet and Edd stepped into what they thought was mud but was actually quick sand. "What the heck?" Timmy looked to see his feet had disappeared into the sand and his legs were following.

"Help!" Baljeet cried out. "Someone save us!"

*Confessional*

Edd: How did I fail to notice we were standing in quicksand? I have studied all different types of dirt extensively. I should've been able to tell the difference between quicksand and mud much easier. What's wrong with me? Has my intellect lowered since coming to the island?

Chris: Can you believe they fell for that? I set it up, but I didn't think anyone would actually walk into it!

*End Confessional*

"Let's just go on without them." Mandy suggested.

"I don't think we can win unless everyone finishes Mandy." Mabel reminded the other girl.

"Fine…" Mandy rolled her eyes. "Cindy go save those idiots."

Cindy nodded. She sees a hanging branch and grabs onto it. Swinging from side to side she swings over to where the boys are stuck in the quicksand. Unfortunately she swings a little too hard and accidentally kicks Baljeet in the face. "Oww! That hurt!" But the kick knocked him out of the quicksand and onto the ground.

"Sorry!" Cindy apologized. "But at least you're safe!" She then pulled Edd and Timmy free before swinging them over to safety.

"Nice one!" Timmy high-fived her.

"Thank you for your assistance." Double D said as he tried to wipe the mud off of his clothes.

Meanwhile the Killer Bass had made it to the other side of the island first. "Alright everyone we need to make a fire!" Isabella said taking command. "Now go find some sticks we can burn!"

The others ran off into the forest to find supplies for the fire. Buford returned quickly with a large bundle of sticks that he dropped in front of Isabella. "Nice work Buford."

Just as more Bass returned with sticks the Gophers arrived. "Oh no they got here first!" Mabel complained.

Mandy slapped Mabel in the face. "Get to work you slackers! If I don't see a fire in the next thirty seconds you're going to wish those wooly beavers got you!" The Gophers ran into the forest to look for branches as fast as they could after hearing that.

*Confessional*

Mandy: This challenge has gone on long enough and I don't want to lose. Sometimes threats are the best motivation.

*End Confessional*

The two teams were both working furiously trying to build a fire faster than the other. As Kuki was looking for more branches she thought she spotted something in a nearby bush. Dropping her sticks she walked over to the bush and pushed aside the leaves. "Wow! What is this?" She picked up what appeared to be a small tiki doll carved out of wood. Not having heard Chris' warning she stuffed it in her pocket and went back to the others.

Elsewhere Mandy approached Gaz. The Gothic girl hadn't been looking for sticks anyway so they were both able to talk in private. "Gaz, we need to talk."

"What is it?"

"I learned that Phineas kid on our team saw us sabotage the other team in the talent show. He knows we're in an alliance."

Gaz's eyes tweaked for a second after hearing that. "He was spying on us?"

"No," Mandy shook her head. "Phineas is an idiot. Someone else was watching us and told him."

"Who?"

"He wouldn't say. But whoever they are they're more dangerous to us now than Phineas." Mandy said. "We have to eliminate them."

"You're right." Gaz nodded. "They might've been spying on us for a while. Who knows what else they know?"

"Exactly." Mandy nodded. Just then she noticed her team's fire was going along well. "We'll talk about this later." She said before walking back to her team.

Both teams had gotten a fire started but neither fire was big enough to win. "Hurry up!" Dipper urged on Buford. "The Gopher's are beating us!"

"Shut up! I'm going as fast as I can."

"Stand aside earth worm!" Zim declared as he pulled his ray gun back out. He put it on its lowest setting. He shot it at the fire. A huge pillar of fire shot up into the sky knocking Chris' helicopter back.

"We have our fire building winner!" Chris announced. "Point for the Bass!"

"Nice one man!" Buford slapped Zim hard across the back knocking the alien into the sand. The Bass picked up their canoes and ran toward the lake. They got in their canoes and started to paddle out while the Gopher's had to finish their fire.

Ten minutes later the Bass made it back to Camp Wawanakwa first. Chris was already there waiting on the dock for them. "And the Bass are the winners!"

"Whoo!" They cheered. Isabella high fived Dib while Kuki and Nazz hugged. Just then the Gopher's showed up looking disappointed.

Before the elimination ceremony began Mandy and Gaz were talking in the girl's side of the cabin. "Are we alone?" Mandy asked. "For sure this time?"

"Yeah yeah, we're alone." Gaz said while playing her favorite video game. "So who should we eliminate?"

"Whoever ratted us out to Phineas." Mandy answered. "It must be one of the other three boys. Either Edd, Baljeet or Timmy."

"Timmy's too stupid." Gaz observed. "It must be one of the other two."

"Yes, but who?" Mandy thought about it for a while. "Ah yes, of course. I know who it is. But we'll need more votes than just us."

"I'll just scare Mabel into voting with us again." Gaz answered. "Now who is it?"

"It has to be…"

Night had fallen as the Screaming Gopher's gathered for another elimination ceremony. Eight of them were left but by the end of the night only seven would remain. Mabel, Timmy, Cindy and Baljeet sat in the back row while Mandy, Gaz, Edd and Phineas sat in the front row.

Chris stood in front of them holding a tray with seven marshmallows on it. "And now, the always anxiety-inducing marshmallow ceremony." He said spinning the plate on his finger. "When I call your name come and get a marshmallow."

"Mabel."

"Phineas."

"Mandy."

"Timmy."

"Cindy."

"Edd."

Each of the six came up and got their marshmallow from Chris' plate. Now the only two campers without a marshmallow were Gaz and Baljeet. Both looked at least somewhat nervous at not having their name called yet. "One last marshmallow." Chris said. "The person who doesn't get this marshmallow will walk off the dock of shame and take a ride on the boat of losers."

"Who's it going to be?" Chris smirked as he enjoyed the suspense. "The last marshmallow goes to…

…..

…Gaz." Baljeet gasped as he watched the purple hair girl stand up and take the last marshmallow off the plate. "Oh no…" He sighed. "I was afraid of this. The probability of an academic like myself surviving during such a competition was incredibly tiny."

Baljeet stood up and walked toward the boat of losers. "Hey Baljeet!" Phineas walked over. "Listen, you played a good game buddy. So don't feel bad."

"Thanks Phineas." The Indian child gave a small smile. "I wish you luck my friend!" Baljeet waved before walking onto the boat of losers. The boat pulled out and took him away from the island.

*Confessional*

Mandy: What an idiot. Phineas didn't even realize it was his own fault Baljeet got kicked off. Well at least now that he's gone I won't have to worry about anyone spying on us.

Mabel: Oh crud, I let Gaz scare me into voting with her again. I gotta stand up for myself! Maybe Cindy could give me some pointers?

Pacifica: If Dipper thinks he got the better of me today then he is dead wrong! I am going to get him back and when I do he'll regret ever crossing me!

Kuki: Yay my team won! And best of all I found this cute little tiki doll back on Boney Island. I bet it'll bring me good luck!
