At long last, Dad is finally complete.
He looks exactly the same when he was alive, including the photos of him.
"Barley, is that you?" he asked.
"Yes, Dad, it's me," I was in tears when I replied.
"How was your mother?"
"She's doing okay."
"And your brother?"
"He's doing okay, as well."
"Good to know."
I'm so happy to see Dad fully. It won't be long now till he disappears back to the afterlife. With this sunset, I have to do one last thing for him before he dies again.
This is my closure.
"Dad... I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't able to say goodbye to you before. I was afraid of the tubes that you were in placed with. I was so afraid that I couldn't say goodbye to you because of this. I'm sorry I walked out on your dying day," I cried so hard of this.
"It's okay, Barley. I couldn't blame you if you were afraid. Even if technology is most prominent in the world, you kept believing in magic and never gave up on it," Dad reassured me.
We look at the sunset together. He knew the spell would wear off and he'll disappear again.
"Barley, take care of your mother. Take care of Ian," he told me. "Tell him I'm proud of him."
"Yes, Dad. And goodbye," that was my last words to him before I hugged him. He hugged me in return.
Seconds later, he disappeared in my arms. I finally felt at peace knowing I get to say my goodbye to him at long last. I hope Ian would always remember him by, even as he passed on to the afterlife.
