I own nothing of Deep Rising, a film which has gone on to become a cult classic.

Attack on the Argonautica.

The passengers on the Argonautica hadn't expected the collision. Everyone had been in the middle of having a grand time, taking advantage of the new cruise ship's entertainment facilities, enjoying the party. Everywhere people were getting drunk and gorging themselves on the luxury and premium food served by the dedicated crew of the ship.

And then everyone was sent flying; casino and blackjack tables were sent flying forwards and the passengers were knocked off of their feet, and from the upper storeys passengers who'd been only a few minutes ago having fun were sent screaming down to the bottom, and on the flights of stairs to those upper levels they were sent tumbling down, suffering from a variety of injuries.

When the aftershocks of the impact or the collision were over, the disorientated and stunned passengers and crew barely had time to gather their wits when they heard a strange gurgling, shrieking sound that scared and chilled them to the bone. None of them knew what the sound was, but they did know it was nothing to do with the ship, and it sounded like some kind of animal.

The passengers, scared and hurting from the impact, panicked. They picked themselves up and they ran out of the doors; they had no idea what it was which had made the sound, and they headed immediately to the lifeboats in the hope of saving themselves. It was a chaotic mad rush to the lifeboats; in the panic, more than a few passengers tripped up over themselves, and they were practically crushed to death when the others, only caring for themselves. In fact, many of them were crushed by the stampede.

The Argonautica crew tried to mitigate the worst of the stampede to stop their passengers from going too crazy. However, many of them were afraid as well, and to make matters worse they were ignored by the passengers who didn't even see them. All over the ship, the passengers raced out of the doors to the lifeboats. They were seeking sanctuary, but all they received was death.

Something was waiting for them.

Or should that be some things?

From the surface of the sea, long wormlike things shot out of the water, the ends opening up like the petals of a particularly ugly flower, lined with hideous sharp teeth shot forwards, attracted to the sounds of the screams of the passengers, who were even more terrified like sheep about to be slaughtered in an abattoir.

The things had little trouble picking off the passengers the crew in the open; attracted by the loud screams and cries of terror and panic, just surged forwards and caught everyone they sought after, the 'mouths' opening up and swallowing their victims. Inside the tentacles, the victims weren't eaten; they were in fact dissolved of all nutrients until their skeletal remains were left behind.

Unknown to the passengers and the crew out in the open who were being picked off left and right so fast, the giant creature was concentrating on sending out its tentacles through the entire ship, finding more victims in other parts of the ship. As it lay beneath the keel of the Argonautica, feeling the more invigorated as its tentacles caught more and more passengers and crew, the creature knew it would only be a matter of time before it succeeded in feeding on everyone.
