The day of the festival came. Aya Hoshino was reunited with her high school friends. They were updating each other about what had happened in their lives and how things were changing. It was going quite well, until they brought up the certain ice prince.
Ran Kotubuki and Miyu Yamazaki knew the dynamics of Aya and Rei's relationship. For some reason, they can easily tell when something was up.
"So what was it this time? Tell us now so we can still fix it while we're still here." Ran said being direct to the point.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Ran."
"Aya, Miyu knows we haven't seen each other for a while but… we're still friends right? You can trust us."
.:.:.
Jinnie Suzuki believed that when you meet people from your past, they'll bring back your old self. That's why she decided that no matter what happens, she'll do her best so that Aya Hoshino won't be pulled back to the unending cycle of her so called 'relationship'.
"It's not a matter of trust. It's about letting her decide what she really wants." Jinnie said as she sat beside Aya, across Ran and Miyu. She had one arm around Aya and the other on the table.
"And who are you?" Ran said, irked by the new comer's attitude.
"Jinnie Suzuki," Jinnie said, she leaned forward, rested her chin on her hand and smirked, "her roommate."
"Okay, roommate. What do you think Aya wants?!" An annoyed Ran taunted Jinnie.
"For you to stop meddling. She's a big girl. You don't always have to push her. It's her relationship, not yours. It's one thing to give advice, but it's another thing to stick your nose in her business." Jinnie retorted with a matter-of-fact tone.
"Why you! We only want what's best for her! And why don't you ask Aya! She's with Otohata because she loves him. Isn't that right Aya?!" Ran said, clearly ticked with the new comer, Miyu on the other hand was observing Jinnie quietly.
"Honestly, I'm at a loss right now, Ran. So can we please drop the subject? I'll talk when I'm ready." Aya said with a resigned voice.
"Glad that's over. Anyways, I'm here to take you. Keisuke's game is coming up. He'll throw a fit if we're late. Don't tell me you forgot?" With that, Jinnie left dragging Aya with her leaving a stupefied Ran and a worried Miyu.
Rei Otohata and Yuuya Asuo were walking around the campus and found themselves near the soccer exhibition game. Given that the duo were not a fan of soccer, they had no plans on watching. So when Rei stopped walking and was looking intently on the field, Yuuya wanted to see what caught his best friend's attention.
And that was strike three.
.:.:.
On the side of the field, the soccer varsity team was gathered around a familiar figure - Aya Hoshino. Keisuke had his arm around a blushing Aya and was proudly introducing her to his team. Jinnie punched Keisuke's shoulder and he finally let go of Aya. After wishing good luck to Keisuke and his team, the women went to the bleachers to cheer them on.
.:.:.
"You miss her, don't you?"
The question brought the ice prince back from his musings. Without removing his gaze from the woman who held his heart, he answered, "I do."
Those two words can be the sweetest of all the words. In weddings, it's a promise that binds two people together... but for Yuuya Asuo, those two words coming from his best friend are the most painful words he had heard. Because that was his way of admitting that he was losing Aya Hoshino.

"The sad thing is," she said, "the moment you start to miss someone, you know they're already gone."

AN: So sorry for the looooong wait. I was eaten alive by life. LOL. Found this in my dump files and decided to continue it since I've got nothing else to do given that there's a lock down. Stay safe guys.
ALSO *facepalms* funny how i used the words strike (and counted until 3) but then the sports mentioned is soccer... I know nothing with sports.
