Emalf could feel the change in his mood when he awoke. He felt empty. Hollow. Alone.

Long ago, his friend had left. Long ago, his friend had turned away from him. Long, long ago, he had sang beside him, his arm around his shoulders. It has been years since he had last seen him. Sure, there's been the occasional letter. It would never compare to actually seeing him in person. The face he'd loved so much…

The demon pushed the thought away as he sat up, ruffling his hair. Adauchi did that when messing with me, he thought. He groaned, fed up with the thoughts already. He glanced at the clock beside his bed; 12 a.m.. Emalf rubbed his eyes, it can't possibly be that early!

He sighed and got up, going over to his desk in his room. He sat down and pulled out a paper and pen. It couldn't hurt to write to his friend and invite him to go karaoke again, right?

Adauchi lay in bed, awake. He had trouble sleeping for some time now. Looking at the clock, it was around 3 a.m.

A knock at the door interrupted his comfiness. He got up and walked over to the door.

'Hello?' His voice was raspy and quiet as he opened the door.

'Letter for Adauchi,' the maildevil said.

'It's 3 a.m.! Who would give me a letter at this time?'

'Don't ask me, but he gave me extra so I could get it to you by today.' The maildevil handed the letter and walked away.

Adauchi closed the door and looked down at the letter in his hand. Whoever it was really wanted him to see it. He turned it around and saw "EMALF" and big, bold letters. He smiled slightly at that. Of course…

Hey, bud! Long time I haven't heard from ya. Really miss messin' 'round with you, man. Wanna come on over to that karaoke place we used to go to?

Adauchi's smile grew, but then faded. He didn't want to be near his father, but he wanted to see his friend. He placed the letter on his nightstand and got back into bed. What was Emalf even doing up so early, anyway? He thought as he drifted to sleep.

All I've been posting is short chapters I'm so, so, so sorry.

You know what they say, Adauchi, when someone's thinking about you, you can't sleep. I can't think of the exact words, since it's 12 a.m..
