A/N: This stories' Red will be a combination of both his Origins counterpart and his game counterpart. Also, this story is based on the fangame Pokemon Reborn, just found this idea interesting, so I wanted to give it a shot.

It was cold, and the winds were incredibly powerful. Blizzards were occurring continuously without stop and the ground was covered in snow. This was Mt. Silver. One of the tallest, if not the tallest, mountains to ever exist in any region, also being one of the most dangerous with powerful pokemon and horrible conditions.
But, these factors didn't seem to bother a certain young man that was seen looking down from the tip of the summit as he had his left hand in his pocket and his right hand gripping the front of his cap and holding it down as his shirt swayed from the winds.
The young boy had fair skin, and his body was lean but had some visible muscle. His hair seemed to be straight and black in colour with his eyes glowing red, on his head was also a red cap with the front being white. He donned a black t-shirt with a red jacket over the top that had a white collar and black sleeves, he also wore a pair of black tight jeans and white and red running shoes.
Finally, he had on black fingerless gloves and six pokeballs that were attached to his waist and were hidden by his jacket. From closer inspection, you could see the figure of a small pokemon standing atop his right shoulder. It was small in stature and was yellow, the pokemon resembled that of a mouse and had a tail that was shaped like a lightning bolt. This was none other than Red and his partner Pikachu.
For those who don't know, Red is the one true champion of the Kanto region. A long-forgotten champion. Why? It's because he had left for Mt. Silver and had stayed for over four years, that's why everyone had forgotten him, his name only being remembered by a select few of individuals.
Red lifted up his cap, revealing the glowing red eyes that now stared towards the vast mountain range. His eyes showing power and superiority, he recalled everything that had happened to him since arriving atop the summit of this cold desolate mountain.
He fought his way to the top, battling against powerful pokemon that rested within. Mt. Silver is known as an incredibly dangerous place for a damn good reason, some even refer to it as the Champion's Peak.
The four years that he spent here, he felt like they went by so slowly, but those slow years had made him into someone of great strength. He recalled when he told his friend and rival, Blue. That he was going to be staying at Mt. Silver, he could remember clearly the shock that his rival displayed, it was understandable.
Red had requested for him to keep it a secret, even from his own mother. If he remembered correctly as to what Blue told him. Lance was filling in as Champion for both Kanto and Johto after his disappearance, while Blue became the Viridian City Gym Leader.
"..."
"..." Red turned his head slightly after hearing the small cry of his Pikachu, he stared for a second before smiling and looking back towards the horizon. "Perhaps... it is time for us to go beyond what we have currently."
Red has muttered as he stared up towards the sunn as he held the tip of his hat, his hair swaying in the wind as his Pikachu looked up as well and smiled. It had been a long time since he had actually interacted with anyone that wasn't his pokemon, years in fact.
The last person he ever spoke to was actually a young trainer that was his age, who had climbed up here to challenge him. From what he remembered, the trainer's name was Ethan Gold, someone who had defeated Lance and became the Champion of Johto.
The young trainer was strong, while he couldn't compare to the red-capped trainer, his strength was far above other trainers. In fact, there are only a select few individuals that Red knew of that could give him a slight challenge. Main ones being Blue and Ethan.
Others that came from other regions and had become champions of them, though they had all given up the titles to get away from all the stress. Being a champion was hard work, all the paperwork and responsibilities. He was surprised Lance could cope with it, especially since Ethan ended up retiring the title back to him, at least that's what he had heard.
The people that could give him a decent challenge all came from many regions, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, two from Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and more. Other than that, Red could only smile as he recalled the battle he had with Ethan. While it didn't last long, it was fun.
Red could be seen staring down at a young trainer his age, which was twelve years old or so. Having worn a red and yellow cap. They wore mainly red with black pants, and a bag that was strapped on. This person being none other than Ethan Gold, Champion of Johto.
Red was staring down at the trainer from his slightly raised podium spot at the peak of Mt. Silver. Red eyes staring into blue ones. Both of them had an incredible presence as both exerted pressure of incredible magnitudes. Red more so than Ethan.
Between both the trainers were two pokemon, with Pikachu being on Red's side of the field as Ethan had a pokemon that was cream coloured with greenish-blue fur. On its back were several red spots that seemed to spark fire every now and then. This was Typhlosion, Ethan's starter and partner since the start of his long journey.
Ethan was panting as Red seemed as calm as always. Ethan had a look of defeat as he weighed his option, Typhlosion was his only pokemon left. He had only managed to take out one of Red's pokemon, and that took his other five to do so! They were certainly not weak either!
It was during the battle that Ethan knew for sure that the legends that spoke about Red were indeed true, someone who's potential was unmatched. It had been rumoured about how Red had swept through the league with ease, and those stories definitely seemed believable.
At first, when he had challenged Red, he knew it was going to be tough, though he had some hope that he could win. But, after a small amount of time, he knew that he was way over his head for initiating this challenge. He was getting demolished...
"Typhlosion, use Flamethrower!" Ethan commanded. Typhlosion roared as the spots on his back flared into incredibly powerful flames. His Typhlosion was considered an anomaly among his kind, having a darker shade of fur and flames three times as powerful. All being as a result of strenuous training.
"..." Red didn't say anything as Pikachu calmly watched the attack heading towards them. In an instant, just as it was going to hit. Pikachu had darted forwards and appeared through the attack in a flash of lightning. To which the attack was broken and the small mouse was running at unimaginable speeds towards Typhlosion.
Ethan didn't manage to give a command as Red snapped his fingers, to which Pikachu gathered electricity in its right arm. The fist was then coated in blue electricity as Pikachu gave a cry before sending it towards the surprised pokemon.
"Typhlosion!" Ethan cried out as he saw his partner rocket away into the side of the mountain as the fist had connected. "Are you alright?!"
Ethan quickly rushed over towards his partner, before kneeling down to see that his pokemon was groaning in pain as swirls replaced its eyes. "I believe this match is over, well done."
Red's young yet masculine voice had sounded as Ethan looked to see Pikachu walking calmly over to his trainer. Ethan nodded with slump of his shoulders as he accepted his defeat, he knew his chances of winning were impossible after a small amount of time into the battle.
"Great job, Typhlosion. You did your best." Ethan smiled as he looked at his pokemon. Typhlosion had regained consciousness as he smiled sadly at his trainer. "Don't worry, they were just too strong. I should have prepared more. This one's on me."
"He's right... you and your team did very well." Ethan and Typhlosion looked to see Red walking over with Pikachu back on his shoulder. "You are the second strongest trainer I have ever faced."
"Really? Who's the first?" Ethan wondered curiously. Was there someone else that could rival such a powerful trainer? Red then looked at him with closed eyes before opening them as he muttered a single name, which made Ethan open his eyes in realisation. "Blue."
"Of course!" Ethan realised. From what he could remember, Blue was Red's rival during his journey. Of course he would be the strongest Red had faced! "You impressed me. Your skills are quite incredible indeed."
"But, we only beat one of your pokemon. It was a sweep." Ethan frowned as he looked down and away from the trainer that was the same age as him.
"You should feel proud, you are one of only a very select few that could." Red smiled softy as Pikachu gave a cry of agreement. Ethan looked into Red's eyes before turning to Typhlosion, who was staring into his trainer's eyes as it was silent for a bit. Both Ethan and his partner smiled as they nodded towards Red. Who had his arms crossed over his chest, to which Ethan then grinned.
"I'll... no, we'll beat you one day, Red!"
Red chuckled a bit at the memory, it was only a few months ago that the battle had taken place. He knew that the trainer was out there training, getting stronger for their rematch. Red heard Pikachu make a cry, which he then turned towards the pokemon. Red then nodded his head. "Yeah, I guess it's time..."
It was probably a good time for him to return home, after being up here in this death trap for two whole years, he had trained up a good amount and his pokemon have become far stronger than they were prior to when he became the champion. Well, he was a former champion now after having retired it back to Lance.
Red smiled softly with closed eyes before opening them slowly as the clouds that didn't even reach up to the top of the mountain began to part, which then revealed the land below him, the view of both the Kanto and Johto region came into his view. It was truly a sight to behold, but, it was time to move once again.
"Let's go..."
"Red... is that really you...?!"
The voice of a woman who was significantly older than Red had sounded. To which the young youth shyly looked away as he scratched his cheek with one finger. The woman appeared to have long black hair that draped over her left shoulder, wearing a pinkish-red attire with an apron over the top.
Red had cringed at the voice, for the person in front of him was none other than his mother, Karan. Someone that he hasn't seen for more than four years, back when he was ten. Red had left Mt. Silver an hour ago on one of his pokemon, which it didn't take long to arrive back in his home town, Pallet Town.
"Yeah... hey, mom."
Karan couldn't restrain herself for long as tears seemed to invade her eyes, causing her vision to go blurry. Red felt a huge emotion of guilt as he saw this, he didn't like it when his mother cried, especially if it had something to do with him. Though, he knew that her tears were justified.
"I-It... It really is you! R-Red!" He was suddenly pulled into a big embrace as she had taken hold of the young trainer. Red didn't resist or anything as he just returned the embrace, and he could feel her tears soaking the back of his shirt. It was as if he could feel her emotions, the amount of worry and sadness, as well as happiness.
"Sorry... mom. Sorry for leaving so suddenly..."
"Red, are you finished?"
"Yeah."
It had been around two hours or so since he had arrived back home to his mother, to which she had ordered him to get himself cleaned, that being because that he was rather dirty after being up in the mountain for such a long period of time. He really didn't care about getting clean while up there, it wasn't like there was anyone else up there.
He had quickly taken a shower as he cleaned himself up, getting rid of any signs of dirt or anything else. He had also then changed into a new pair of clothes that his mother seemed to have prepared, which were the exact same as to what he had been wearing for so long, but they were new and clean, void of rips and damages.
Red could be seen walking out through the doors of the house as his mother followed and stopped right at the door as he turned around to face her, to which she gave a smile as she looked down at the young trainer. Karan then bent down a bit before adjusting Red's cap as the youth blushed a bit in embarrassment.
"You do remember where Professor Oak's lab is, right?" His mother had asked as she placed both her hands on her hips. Red just silently nodded his head in response as he looked up at his mother. Karen smiled and nodded her head at this. "Good, I was worried you forgot after being gone for so long."
Karen then gave Red a quick embrace. To which they soon said their farewells as Red began running towards the laboratory, which reminded him of when he first started his journey. He remembered running just like this to get his first pokemon, but this time he didn't have Blue running beside him, which he could only chuckle as he remembered them racing.
It didn't take long before he had arrived at the lab, since it was actually rather close by to his house. He looked up at the large staircase leading to the lab, which he ran up with ease and without even looking tired in the slightest. He arrived at the front door, to which he stared at it for a second before knocking on it three times.
Red waited patiently as he could the sound of footsteps coming from inside the laboratory. He could hear some items falling to the ground as also the cry of someone who had probably fallen over, to which he sweatdropped at all the noise he was currently hearing. What the heck was happening in there?
"I-I'm sorry, I just haven't cleaned quite yet!" The voice of a wise man could be heard as the doors to the lab opened in front of Red. When the man came into view, he looked rather aged and was wearing a white lab coat. Having worn a red dress shirt underneath along with very light brown pants as well. "R-Red, it really is you! You really are back!"
"...? You knew I was coming...?" Red tilted his head in confusion.
"Yes, of course! Karen called me immediately, I think you were showering or something during it! Come on in!" Oak welcomed Red into the lab happily as the youth nodded before walking in and looking around, not much has changed other than that there were a few more machines or so around the place. "I can see that you're doing well, surprisingly after being up on Mt Silver for two years."
"...!"
"Don't be so surprised." Oak grinned. "Blue had informed me of everything that happened after you had told him about where you were going. Plus, even if he didn't, you know that I would have ended up finding out at some point, right?"
"... I suppose so." Red sighed. At least Blue didn't end up telling every single damn person in the world where he was, that would have caused some major annoyances. Blue was the only one that he had told about where his whereabouts were, to which he asked his rival to keep in a secret from everyone.
"Oh, I just remembered!" Oak called out. Red blinked as he turned around to look at the professor, who was running around trying to find something. He watched in confusion as he ran back over to the trainer with something in his hands. To which Red blinked at. "Take it! It's a new updated national Pokedex!"
"Really?" Red asked as he rose one eyebrow. Oak nodded his head with a smile as Red then took hold of the device, which looked quite similar to the original Kanto Pokedex, but it was far more refined and advanced looking than it was previously. His old Pokedex was not in such a good condition, the colour was coming off and everything.
"My, I haven't seen this in so long. It sure brings back memories." Oak chuckled as he took hold of Red's old Pokedex as Red fiddled around with the new one, which seemed to have many functions like calling, the map, basic Pokedex functions, and much more. "There's something else, though I'll need time to go get it."
"It's fine. I'll wait."
It had been around ten minutes since Professor Oak had gone off somewhere in the lab to go get whatever it was that he was looking for, to which Red had no idea what it was at all. Though, from what he saw of the professor's face, it must be rather important or urgent to have him go looking for it like that.
Red could now be seen walking out of the lab's back door and into the large backyard that all the pokemon that Professor Oak was holding onto for trainers were playing and hanging around, some even from different regions outside of the Kanto region. He sure has been busy since he left.
Red looked around and smiled at all the many kinds of pokemon that were playing and resting, he felt the warm air brush against his new clothes as his eyes were still obscured by his hat. He then reached towards his waist and took hold of all six of his Pokeballs before tossing them forwards onto the field.
"Red! I'm here, I finally got what- oh my goodness!" Professor Oak went bug-eyed as he had run out the lab, only to freeze and stare agape at what had caught his vision. Red turned around as Professor Oak could see the young trainer standing in front of six pokemon, and he knew that they belonged to the youth. "This... is incredible!"
Professor Oak could only gasp at the six pokemon that Red had standing behind him, and while the professor wouldn't normally react like this, his reasons were justified. In front of him were six pokemon that you would quake in fear under no matter who you were, pokemon that held auras of unfathomable power.
The other pokemon that he was holding for other trainers all backed away in fear and awe as they stopped their activities to stare at the titans that stood in front of the lab, it was truly a sight that none of them had ever seen. All of Red's pokemon being what you would consider... anomalies. Absolute aberrations from their species!
The first pokemon was none other than Pikachu, who was the same size as any other Pikachu you would normally find. But, there was a difference, its fur being a bit darker due to the cold weathers and the sharpness of the tail. Its ears being a bit pointier and its eyes having a strong sharp gaze, with blue electricity sparking around it every now and then.
The next pokemon was on all fours with midnight black fur along with golden ring patterns around its body and glowing red eyes, this being none other than an Umbreon, a dark-type evolution of the Eevee evolutionary line. This pokemon too was not normal as its stance was strong and seemed to be on guard yet calm as well.
The Umbreon's fur was beautiful as it was seen to be incredibly smooth and well taken care of, its piercing red eyes glowing continuously. The golden rings that littered its body were also seemingly tinted as if golden, not the normal yellow colour, but more of a beautiful jewel-like golden colour. Finally, muscles could even be seen visible from under its fur.
The next pokemon was mainly green in colour and stood on all four of its legs, and holding a bored expression on its face, this being Red's Venusaur. Who was by far much different from its species, being three times as large as its kind and with the flower on its back being slightly larger than the size of the pokemon itself. It also had what looked to be a scar running over its left eye.
Next up was a turtle pokemon that stood on both legs and had its arms crossed, keeping a narrowed look, this was none other than Red's Blastoise. Being three times as large as its normal species and with dark blue skin, the shell on its back being five times as hard as a normal Blastoise. The cannons on its back also seemed to be bigger in size, and looked like they could probably shoot far more powerful attacks than a normal Blastoise.
The next pokemon closely resembled a dragon that stood on two legs, with its neck being rather long and having a pair of glowing red eyes, and it was slightly slouched over as both arms held onto its knees as its head was held to the right, but its gaze held forwards as the eyes were glowing crimson.
This pokemon was none other than Charizard, Red's first-ever pokemon and partner since his journey had started two years ago. It was by far also an anomaly, being also three times as large as it species, and having the body of a deeper red than even its previous evolutionary stage, that of a Charmeleon.
The beast had incredibly defined and powerful looking wings as well as built arms and legs, a large scare could be found running along its back too. What caused Oak to drop his jaw, even more, was the flame that raged on the tip of its tail, burning at an incredible size, and the fact that it was a beautiful blue flame! The flame wasn't even being powered by the adrenaline of battle, this was it in its everyday stage!
"Wha...!" Professor Oak could only gasp in shock as he turned towards the last pokemon, a pokemon that he was well familiar with, which was a pokemon that had ended up causing Blue to suffer major injuries, only to soon be caught by the youth that it was standing close to as of right now.
The pokemon was none other than Mewtwo! A legendary psychic-type pokemon that is said to be a clone of Mew, another legendary pokemon! The beast in front of him being that of a normal-sized Mewtwo, but having a pair of constant glowing blue eyes and with the purple tail being a deeper shade. Furthermore, there was a dense yet incredibly thin powerful blue aura that surrounded the being, flowing up like fire.
"W-Wow, Red. You have certainly been training..." Professor Oak muttered as he held a nervous smile on his face. Red blinked under his cap for a second before shrugging his shoulders at the comment, to which he then added. "So, what did you go off to get anyway, professor?"
"Oh! Of course, take a look at this!" Professor Oak reached into his lab pocket before handing what look to be a form of some kind, like a sheet or something for someone to fill in. Red seemed confused as he looked at the form, why did he have this? "What is this, professor? What's it for?"
"It's a registration sheet." Professor Oak grinned. Red seemed confused at the response as he looked at the professor with a look that seemed to want answers. "A registration sheet to sign someone up to go all the way to the distant Reborn Region! To compete in the Reborn League!"
"Reborn?"
"Yeah. It's a region far off from here and the other regions, and it's said that the place doesn't even seem to be in good condition right now. Apparently there might be something sinister happening over there." Professor Oak said seriously. Red narrowed his eyes at this, his pokemon doing the same. Was it as bad as Team Rocket was in the past?
"It's said that the region right now seems to be in horrible condition, and its citizens are suffering from it." Red closed his eyes as he heard this. He knew there was more to this than Professor Oak was letting on, there was definitely something happening in the background, unless it was just coincidence that the region became what it is today, which he doubted.
"Aside from that, on a brighter note. Back to what I was saying before." Professor Oak interrupted Red's thoughts as the boy looked up at him, his eyes still being covered by his hat. "By signing this form, that means you are registering for the Reborn League, to which you will complete the registration when you get there."
"A new league, huh?"
"Yep. A new journey for you to partake in." Professor Oak smiled with a nod of his head. He then added something that really caught his and his pokemon's attention. "The league is said to be the most difficult of all, despite the region not being known by many. It has a total of eighteen gyms you need to go through. Knowing you though, I have a feeling you will be able to do it! So, how about it?"
"..." Red was silent as he turned towards his pokemon. All seemingly staring back at him with anticipated eyes, it seemed that they were all just curious as he was. Pikachu gave a cry of excitement as sparks flowed from his cheeks. Red smiled as he thought about it, a new journey did sound interesting, and this new region was interesting too.
Though, the thought of something sinister happening made him curious and also wary. He had managed to defeat Team Rocket when they were in their prime, being far stronger than they were now, from what he had heard. So, it was kind of in his person to start taking people down that were like them. More reason for him to go.
Professor Oak waited patiently as he then saw the young trainer in front of him turn his gaze upwards, now seeing the pair of eyes that held so much potential and determination. The pair of crimson glowing red eyes now staring into his as the young man gave a small smile on his face as he held the form.
"Very well. I'll accept the challenge."
