This is just Alice looking at Warner firing his gun a few times. It was supposed to repeat the plot element that Alice keeps sneaking up on Warner without him noticing.
The room was quiet. Just how he liked it.
Chief commander Warner made sure to keep his gun skills at their best at all times. He spent two sessions a week to keep them all at top notch. He could always use the communal shooting range, which he did when he wanted to practice his skills against real weather conditions like fog or rain; but he was most comfortable in solitude. In his private gun range.
He raised his firearm. A handgun. He held it with a slightly bent elbow to brace against the recoil at eye's' height; which were covered in security glasses. He was turned to the side, to make a smaller target. And took aim at the human shaped piece of aluminum.
He held his breath.
He felt his finger close around the trigger. Tense.
Boom boom boom
The target jerked. Now there was three barely distinguishable holes in the target in the chest area.
This all happened in the span of only a few seconds.
He lowered the gun and admired his work.
"Did you really fire it?", someone said behind him.
He whirled around, raising his gun in the same move. Then he stood there with his arm ready to shoot and stared at his audience.
It was her, Alice, sitting on the bench against the wall with her chin resting in her hands. She was wearing a brown dress with red flowers on it. The cardigan was on as well. She wore black stockings.
"How did you get in here?!", he demanded.
"Elevator", she answered.
He blinked.
"Of course you took the elevator", he seethed through gritted teeth. More to himself than anyone.
Should he still be surprised that she managed to just walk in there by this point? No, not really.
He removed one of his earplugs and scowled.
"You do realize I have a loaded gun in my hand?", he asked. Gesturing for the firearm in his hand.
"Yes", she nodded.
"Next time warn me before I shoot you by accident", he ordered her. He secured the gun and lowered it.
"Okay", she said. She was looking at the gun. Deep in thought. She straightened her posture and asked:"Can you fire that again?"
She pointed at the gun.
He blinked.
"May I ask why I would do that?"
"Just do it…", she ushered and fanned her hand towards him.
He felt his eyebrows raise, and to his own surprise he turned around to comply.
"Plug your ears", he said and nodded for the can containing yellow silicone plugs.
He heard some movement behind him, then he plugged in his own again.
He could feel her intrigued gaze rest on his back.
He loaded the gun again, raised it, choose his aim.
And fired
Boom
The target jerked again, and this time the hole was between its eyes.
He turned back around, expecting to have made an awestricking impression on the girl; but all he saw was another frown. She was sitting with her chin in her hands again.
"What?", he demanded. For some some reason he was disappointed.
"There wasn't any fire…", she complained. Cocking her head at the gun in his hand.
So that was what she was looking for.
"Of course there's no fire", he reprimanded, scowling. He secured the gun with a flick of his thumb. Then he removed the earplugs from both ears and removed the magazine.
"That's an effect they use in Hollywood movies."
"Why?"
"It looks more impressive, I suppose. In reality there it would be a huge disadvantage if guns did that when fired."
"Why?", Alice asked.
"Because it reveals your position, and blinds you in the dark", he explained.
"How do they do that?", she wondered.
He shrugged.
"I don't know. Firecrackers in the muzzle maybe?" He walked to the gun wall and put the handgun he had used on the table.
"Those are way too big!", Alice protested behind him.
"What?", he asked. Meanwhile he started picking out the equipment to clean the firearm from the various drawers in the table. He flicked out the folded napkins and got the cleaning rod, and set to work.
"Firecrackers, they're way too big for that. Or maybe it's a mini firecracker", she pondered.
"Alice, firecrackers aren't that big."
"Yeah they are! Otherwise you wouldn't see them up in the sky!"
He paused.
"You're talking about fireworks", he decided.
Alice blinked.
"Is there a difference?"
"Quite so, yes."
"Firecrackers are smaller, much smaller than fireworks, and doesn't do much except explode."
She took a moment to take in this new information.
"What does firecrackers look like?", she asked.
He sighed and had to think of a quick but efficient description.
"Like red cigarettes tied to a string", he replied.
"You light the string, the fuse, and then they explode one after another as the fuse starts goes on."
"I think they're called bangers in Swedish", she said.
"Bangers?"
"Because they go bang."
