It is now St. Patrick's day, early in the morning and the whole Town of Walnut Grove is feeling lucky with the findings of the four leaf clovers they all found yesterday. Mrs. Garvey has sown up her new green grass that her husband got her that got ripped but they still don't know how it happened.

At the Olsen's Mercantile even Mrs. Olsen is feeling lucky as she puts on her green dress and says to Nels, ''This is going to be a good day." Then Mrs. Olsen puts the fish on the stove to fry that Nels caught yesterday when he found a four leaf clover. She also made some green icing cupcakes.

Meanwhile at the Ingalls they are having breakfast with green eggs and ham. Grace asks, "Ma, how did you make those eggs green?"

Mrs. Ingalls answers, "Sweetie, I put some food coloring in them to put us in the mood for the day.

After breakfast Mrs. Ingalls tooks the cake out of the oven that she made for the picnic and puts some green icing on the cake with green sprinkles. She also put in the middle of the cake a decorative shamrock with a leprechaun and Grace says, "Ma that kind of looks like Patrick 'O Malley my leprechaun friend."

Mrs. Ingalls gives Grace a smile, "Yes, Grace, I'm sure it does."

It's now about 11am. and Charles Ingalls says to his family, "The picnic starts in a hour we should head into Town. They load up the wagon and head to Town. When they get to Town they see everyone sitting up the tables of food. The Olsens have their fish and cupcakes. The Graveys brought some biscuits and green lemonade. Others brought different kinds of pastas.

Meanwhile under the steps of the Olsen's Mercantile, that no one saw was Simon 'O Brien the mean leprechaun thinking to himself, "Huh! What's going on? I thought they wasn't going to have a celebration. I have to do something!"

Also nobody notices that Patrick 'O Malley the nice leprechaun that is in Grace's pocket as he whispers to Grace, "Grace over there is Simon 'O Brien. We need to keep an eye on him!"

Everyone begins to eat enjoying themselves but while they are eating and playing all different kinds of games Simeon 'O Brien is going around pinching everyone and folks begin to ask, "Who pitched me? I'm wearing green." After awhile it doesn't bother them because they are having too much fun.

Simon 'O Brien also comes up to Grace to pinch her but Patrick 'O Malley warns her. Grace just kicks him out of the way and says, "You mean ole leprechaun you are not welcome here!" Then Patrick 'O Malley laughs, 'Heee, Haaa, Heee, Haaa!'

Simon 'O Brien just stumps away!

Around 3pm while everyone is enjoying all the fun and fellowship, Rev. Alden announces, "In an hour we will start the parade."

At 4pm. the parade starts. There are green floats in the shapes of four leaf clovers, Shamrocks and leprechauns. Grace Ingalls has a big smile on her face as the parade is going on and pats her pocket with Patrick O'Malley in it and whispers, "Thanks 'O Malley for helping us to have this enjoyable day!"

The parade is now over and everyone heads for home. Simon 'O Brien is under the steps of the school and says to himself, "What a dumb picnic and parade they had! That cousin of mine is always ruining my fun!" Then he stumps off not being seen.

As the Ingalls are driving home it begins to rain just a little bit and there is a rainbow in the clouds and they all see Patrick 'O Malley in the middle of the rainbow waving down at them and says to them all, "HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!"

Grace replies back to him, "Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too 'O Malley!

Grace's Ma and Pa looks over to Grace and asks, "Grace was that your leprechaun friend?"

Grace answers, "Yes Ma, Yes Pa, he helped us have a fun day by getting rid of that mean cousin, 'O Brien, and look 'O Malley gave me this gold coin that says, 'Happy St Patrick's' on it."

Mrs. Ingalls says, "Grace that is a nice coin and we all are sorry that we didn't believe you that your friend existed."

"It's ok Ma!" Grace replies, "I'm just glad we could have a celebration."

Walnut Grove had a fun St. Patrick's Day!
