Ch 17
Ike rushed into town. He jumped from his horse before it came to a stop. He ran up the steps.
"Ike? Thought y'all were with the posse?"
'They got him!' signed Ike frantically.
"Are they bringing him here? He hurt?"
'I don't know. It wasn't looking good when I rode off. Buck and Noah were there.'
Teaspoon went and grabbed two shotguns from his cabinet. He threw one to Ike.
"Please, let me help you! This is my fault! I need to make it right!" Yelled Cody.
Teaspoon looked to Ike. He walked over and opened the cell.
"We are probably gonna need you. Jesse, stay here."
Teaspoon, Ike, and Cody walked out to wait on the posse.
Buck and Noah scooted closer to each other. Buck was able to untie Noah's hands. Noah untied himself and then Buck. They leapt onto their horses.
Kid and Lou raced back toward town as fast as they could.
Teaspoon saw the dust before he saw all the riders. He stood out in the street along with Cody and Ike. They pointed their guns. The posse came to a stop right in front of him.
"Move Teaspoon!"
"I can't do that! What y'all are about to do is wrong and you know it! He ain't had no fair trial!"
"What else do you need Hunter! We got people who saw him with that girl! Look at his hands for God's sake! The glass he used to stab that girl cut into his own flesh!"
"We ain't got all the facts Brown! You know Hickok! He ain't a murderer!"
"You got one more chance to move Teaspoon!" Yelled another man.
Teaspoon looked at Jimmy slumped over in his saddle. He saw blood dripping from his face.
"I can't! Don't make me kill you!"
Bill, the girl's father, walked out behind Teaspoon and put his gun to his head.
"Drop em, boys." He said.
"Bill, I know you're upset and angry but don't do this." Said Teaspoon.
"My daughter suffered before she died. She was all I had left. Now he will suffer just like she did."
"The man who killed your daughter will suffer but I'm tellin ya, it ain't Hickok!"
"Step aside Teaspoon."
Cody and Ike tossed their guns. Men dismounted and ran to pick them up. The posse pushed pass Teaspoon. Men holding them back. They rode up to the saloon. Teaspoon watched as they untied Jimmy from his saddle and pulled him down. He fell onto the dirt. Teaspoon couldn't see him anymore in the crowd.
Buck and Noah hit town at a dead run. They saw the posse gathered in front of the saloon. He saw Teaspoon and the others being held back.
Jimmy was kicked then hauled to his feet. They pulled him through the doors and upstairs to the front balcony. They pushed him outside. He fell onto the boards.
Teaspoon yelled for them to stop but he couldn't do anything to stop them. They pulled out a rope and put it around Jimmy's neck. Two men pulled Jimmy to his feet. Bill and another man turned to the town.
"My child suffered at the hands of this monster! He shouldn't get off so easy should he?!" Yelled Bill.
The crowd roared in agreement. Bill walked over to Jimmy and stared at him.
"You took away my baby. I can't let you live for that."
Jimmy blinked past the blood on his face to stare back at him. Bill pulled a knife.
"He deserves the same thing that he did to her! Except when he is just about to die, we'll hang him over the side!"
The crowd cheered as Bill stuck the knife in Jimmy's chest. He screamed out as his legs went weak but the men held him firmly.
"No!" Yelled Teaspoon and Cody.
They could only watch as Jimmy fell forward and his life began to run from his body.
